Julie POV.
I brought a lot of food that afternoon. Yesterday they brought me some food when I went to see him at least I could repay the kindness of Uncle and Aunt.
I arrived with two large bags of food before lunch. Aunt Joan smiled to see me coming.
"Aunt me brought you food."
"Gosh, that's a lot. Why did you buy this much. Louis can't eat anything other than hospital food."
"I know this is for you. Hey Louis..." I greet her a little brighter looking on her face today. She could smile at me, my heart was already blooming happy when she smiled at me. I feel like my cheeks are warming up happily. This feeling drives me crazy.
"You came here, Auntie and Uncle, need a short break, last night Aunt was afraid to leave him. Can you stay until afternoon. Maybe 6 Aunty's coming again, Bibi's hotel is near here. There's a nurse you can leave if you want to go."
"Mom I'm fine, rest tonight don't wait for me anymore."
"We'll be here by 6, we'll be home by night. Then back in the morning." His father also came all the way here to see his son. Their parents still consider their children forever need to be cared for. My mom and dad did the same thing.
"I've got Henry on night duty, you guys don't have to wait for me too late he can sleep on the couch." Louis doesn't want them to get tired from looking after him.
"Alright, we'll come by 5 o'clock if so. We go home first. Julie, I'm sorry if she's troubling you."
"No Aunty, it won't be a hassle."
"All right, we're leaving. Thanks for the food, don't forget to eat."
"Yes Auntie."
I drove them out and back with my heart pounding in. Stupid, simple things can make my heart pound like this I feel like I want to escape, but I also want to see it again.
"How are you feeling? Is anyone sick? Do I have to get you something you need?" I sat down and came to his side.
"I'm good. Don't bother you."
"I don't feel bothered."
"Eat, you haven't eaten."
"Later on." I saw him, he saw me. Our thoughts may be different, whatever he thinks, we have a lot of time to talk about it I guess.
"Why are you here?" The question took me a step back, why am I here. He doesn't know why, that's very clear.
"I'm worried about you."
"Julie, you should know why I'm acting this way to you, sometimes I see you as a mirror of the past, all unfair to you."
"I know, I don't mind whatever your initial reason is, which I know I like you for what you are. It's the past, it's the present, you can't think of me as someone else. Let's just get to know each other. As to why I should like you, I don't know, if I could choose I might not choose you. But I can't lie to my own feelings."
I looked into her eyes without fear, that was the truth, if I could choose who I wanted to fall in love with. Maybe I'd prefer Colin but I can't control the direction of my heart. Even though I thought it was annoying before, I hated it but I still ran here.
He silently looked out the window. Maybe some of his heart still thinks of his dead wife. But he no longer exists.
"You are stubborn. You can choose to forget me after I treated you so cruelly. Why are you so stupid. I tried to keep you safe, but you ran excitedly into danger. Stupid." Now he pushes my forehead with his finger.
He saw me smiling at him. Maybe he's out of ways to tell me to leave.
"I'm sorry to yell at you on our last phone." I held her hand. He let me, maybe fight it can't because he's sick, while I can take over. While I was happy just by being able to hold her hand like this.
"When do you work?"
"Next week, I can accompany you."
"Not to spend your time."
"I have time to spend. You'll argue with me, and then wait if you're cured, you can try, now you're powerless, just obey me." He glared at me and I smiled winning.
His face flinched a sign he was in pain as he tried to shift slightly.
"What's the pain, you need to take medicine? Or should I call a doctor?"
"No, I'm fine. It's been shot, you can't expect not to get sick. If you follow me one day there may be this risk." He said I followed him. Could it be that he didn't reject the end but still tried to test me so I could leave?
"I don't mind." I'm smiling now. "You hungry? I bought chicken cream soup? You can eat this, right? There's bread, eggs, pudding, my doctor friend said, you should get this menu." The smell of his chicken soup made him turn his head, I knew he was hungry.
"Rabbe?"
"I can eat by myself." She refused to be fed so I took the food table for her and put her soup in front of her. But I don't think he can move bending too far. The face of her pain looked troubled as she bowed.
"I'm sorry, you can't bend. Sick right?" This time he was helpless, however he needed my help.
"Nake?"
"Yes, thank you." This time he knew himself too. I can make him thank you. I know he doesn't want to feel helpless, but I like how he has to depend on me.
"I added the bottle okay, or you want the egg."
"Yes, I'll have eggs." I bribed him without much talk. He looks hungry, maybe this morning the breakfast menu is still limited.
"You didn't have breakfast this morning?"
"I was only given one small cup of soup and a slice of bread, a pudding. From yesterday my food was rationed like a prisoner. The doctor said I should wait for my digestive function to return." I thought the food was still rationed. "You don't eat?"
"Later after this."
"What are you eating?"
"I bought a steak. But you can't seem like it yet, I'll ask the doctor first if I can. If I could buy it for dinner. Okay. My friend says if you're starving, it can usually eat harder." He gave his consent.
"I can have the potatoes. My food's all mushy." I'm laughing a little. I scraped the food bag and gave her the potatoes she wanted.
"If I get scolded by the doctor for giving you this you'll have to admit your own fault."
"Not going to, I'm starving, how the hungry can be cured." He can already refute people's words at least his brain is fully functional now.
