Episode 83
“Mmmmm..” Manira wiped away her tears. He was confused as to what reason to give. “I'll be out,” Manira stands up and rushes back to the show room before Mahesa gets angry.
“Wait,” Mahesa pulls Manira's hand. “Playing his violin as usual,”
“Again?” Manira surprise.
“Why? Any problems?”
“Mahesa, I'm not comfortable with the way they look at me. They look at me like they see comfort women with their dirty fantasies, ” complained Manira who began to feel uncomfortable with the gaze of the men who saw her with a naughty look as if she wanted to spend the night with him. Sometimes Manira feels like a cheap woman who is offering herself in front of the guests of Mahesa.
“Do not overdo it. They're my friends and they're respectable..” Mahesa begins to get annoyed with Manira's defiant attitude. “Again just playing violin, what's wrong?”
Pok!!!!!
Mahesa begins to dare to hit Manira. Their quarrel or rather the arrogance of Mahesa who never want to be denied makes him choose to solve the problem by beating his own wife. For him it is the most powerful way to shut the mouth of someone who talks too much. Once again Manira was made to distrust the original attitude of Mahesa which turned out to be very terrible.
“You think you deserve to be my wife?” ask Mahesa who finally discusses the social gap and their very different backgrounds. Manira is just an ordinary country girl while Mahesa has everything with all her luxurious life.
“Mahesa..” Manira doesn't believe Mahesa brought this up.
Manira is offended by Mahesa's words. He felt that Mahesa regretted marrying him. At that moment, Manira felt that she had no meaning in the presence of Mahesa. She was like a foolish woman from the village who dreamed of becoming a queen in the king's palace. Manira feels her pride is being played with. She felt humiliated, feeling to be someone who had no self-esteem before her own husband. Although not clearly, it seems that Mahesa began to show his degree as a great person and consider Manira just like a small painting on display on one of the walls of his house.
“The only thing you have is your beauty and your cleverness playing the violin. That's all you can do for me so do it well and make them happy,” Mahesa concluded.
Manira had no other choice. With a sore heart, he sat back in front of the guests and played his violin. His heart was very sick, confused to think about this really the man he loved so much? A man who turns out not to be as good as he imagined but still, he can't stop loving her. Slowly her tears flowed, not because the song she was playing was a sad song but because she was crying for herself who could never stop loving Mahesa until this very second. Crying that there were too many things that he had sacrificed even to have to fight his parents and hurt many people but it turned out all like nothing at all.
In one his heart rebelled, in the other he still could not lose. His whole life changed. He felt like a puppet controlled by Mahesa. He is not being himself. The happiness he had dreamed of all this time, was not as beautiful as he had imagined. He was like someone who had died and left his body in this place.
