Episode 54
Since then, Gibran decided to leave the village. He did not want to acknowledge himself as the son of the Damar Scouts. For every time he bears that name, though it is called with reverence, he is disgusted with himself. He also did not want to take a penny of the inheritance from Juragan Damar even though legally he has the same rights as Mahesa. It could be said, that half of the wealth of Juragan Damar's legacy was his. But he didn't want to take it all. He left everything behind, ran away from his past, became a vagabond to punish himself who was already a disgrace.
“Basic bastard!!!” the screams did not stop echoing in Gibran's ears.
Hearing the appellation addressed to him with contempt, made Gibran feel like something very bad and worthless. He felt small and worthless. He felt his life was filled with dirt from the moment he was born. Although Manira tries to remind him that he is great, but the strands of the past cannot be removed. The fact that he was a child born from such a relationship is a history that can never be changed by all the ink in this world. No one could deny that the blood flowing within him was filthy and disgusting blood. If he had been disgusted at himself, how could he have risen?
“Still thinking of the same problem?” asked Manira who suddenly appeared in her white clothes. The beautiful woman stood in front of Gibran and looked at him as if she wanted to say that Gibran was not alone.
Gibran was stunned, startled, and again Manira appeared before him as if she could read his entire mind. Everyone thought of him as crazy. Only Manira would sit with him and talk to him. Only Manira could understand his whole heart without him saying anything. Although like the earth and sky the difference between them, but Manira did not see the difference at all. To him, the madman who had never bathed and his white clothes had already turned brown because never washed this was a smart man but all his intelligence was covered by his bitter past. He needs a friend and he needs someone who can listen to him. Just like Manira herself who when she wants a interlocutor who knows everything about her love, she finds it only in Gibran's crazy self.
Gibran was shocked to hear the mother's screams. He saw that mother was so anxious that she was almost desperate.
“You know who Helly is?” ask Manira.
Gibran silent.
“It was the name of his dog that had been missing since last night,” Manira explained. “You know what that means??? If dogs alone can be so important, why do you feel that you are not important?”
Gibran contemplates Manira's speech.
“Have you heard of a plane crash years ago??? Everyone was sent to search for them. Without knowing anything about the passengers, what his job was, what his name was, from which family, from which country, what color of his skin, whether he was a criminal or a saint. But dozens of planes and helicopters were flown in to search for them. Hundreds of soldiers, SAR teams and even civilians were deployed to search for them. The search continues even to cost hundreds of millions just to find those who may have become corpses. It all shows that all humans are important, including YOU,”, Manira said trying to open Gibran's mind to stop feeling that she herself is worthless. “....so never shrink yourself,” Manira continued.
