Episode 2

Parent Damar tidied up his clothes after spending some time with Ratmi in one of the empty rooms in his house. They look very calm and comfortable as if they do not feel that they have just made a mistake that is betraying their respective partners. They are in a relationship beyond the limits of reasonableness but they do not feel guilty at all.

“If you can give me a child, I will give you whatever you want,” said Juragan Damar while buttoning his shirt.

After being married to Sarifah for five years, Juragan Damar was never given a child. His instincts as a man began to think mischievously to find other ways to have children. He could not wait any longer especially lately his wife was often sickly and could not give him happiness like before. Juragan Damar's ambition to soon have children, gave Ratmi a way to take over Sarifah's position as the legal wife of Juragan Damar. The Damar scouts had everything: money, wealth and big names. If he could subdue her then Ratmi would definitely be able to obtain everything. Hearing Juragan Damar's tantalizing offer, Ratmi smiled mysteriously as if she was planning something sneaky. He was tired of living a poor life with Hasan who only worked as a salty fish seller in the market. She wants to rise to the rank of mistress, the wife of a wealthy courtier.

“Why didn't the boss just divorce the boss' wife and find another woman who could give a child to the boss?” ask Ratmi.

“So the juragan married Sarifah not for love?”

“To be able to live we need money,” replied Juragan Damar with a sneaky tone. “But money alone is not enough. Everyone needs something called love to feel the beauty of life. Just as eating is not enough, we also need to drink,”

“That means that the coach gets a lot of money from Sarifah and gets love from me?” ratmi asked, increasingly daring to look at Juragan Damar as if without boundaries between workers and employers.

Juragan Damar turned his body, looking at Ratmi who was still sleeping on the bed.

“Are you not the same???” ask the Damar Scouts. “You married Hasan because you loved him. But love is not enough. You need this,” Juragan Damar took out a lump of money and gave it to Ratmi, “,” continued Juragan Damar who could read very clearly that Ratmi also faced a life path that was almost the same as him. Ratmi gets her love but does not get a decent life. He was like a person who drank a lot of water until bloated but his stomach never felt full because there was no food he had eaten. Drinking without eating will keep you hungry. Eating without drinking will be a drag. The problem is, few people can eat and drink easily. Few people can get love and wealth at once in their grasp.

“We cooperate.... You get what you want and I get what I want,” continued Parent Damar.
