I WASN'T...

I WASN'T...
Call for a Date

"What do you want to eat?" satya asked as she drove her car through the crowded city streets. On Friday, the traffic was heavy. We're on our way home from Rena's house. I could finally hear for myself that Rena's parents didn't mind if I received a heart donor from Rena.

"Gue wants to eat meat" said Gilang from the back of the car.

"Gue is not lo," said Satya. "Lo nyamber hold, like a catfish."

"Yes, how else. I am a very laper. So excited to meet Debi, I was not in the mood for breakfast," replied Gilang with shoulders lifted.

"Mistake it yourself" Satya sneered. "Deb, you have to know how crazy this guy is! He's hanging out at our school from the first hour of class, for fear of being left to the hospital."

I giggled amusedly, considering Gilang was indeed a person who was blind. "He doesn't know the way, but he's afraid to take a taxi."

"Fear why? Kidnapped?" Satya asked with a serious face.

"Yes, dong!" sambar Gilang again. "Gue is handsome like this, surely many have evil intentions if there is a gap!"

"Lang, ngaca, gih!"

"You guys, if you fight, get hungry" cut me off. "As much as you want to eat where. I'm going with you." Actually I don't want to eat. Lately, my appetite has not been good. But I have to eat to heal wounds and improve my nutritional status, right? The doctor said, I have to maintain stamina, because I take drugs that weaken my antibodies. Once I get sick, even if it's just the common cold, it'll be bad for my body.

We stopped in front of a famous steakhouse. Gilang clapped his hands boisterously like an SD child whose wish was fulfilled. He wanted to buy us a full meal here.

"Gil, you really can spend all your orders?" ask me to doubt. Just imagine, he ordered two servings of double sirloin steak, tenderloin steak, spaghetti, and potato wedges.

"Gue doesn't want to be the trash can from the rest of your order" Satya warned.

"Ease, really!" Gilang said with certainty. "Gue to the toilet, yeah!" then rush to the washroom.

I looked around the restaurant. The place was not so crowded, probably because it was not yet dinner time, while it was too late for lunch.

"It's like a date, huh?"

I turned my head in shock to hear Satya's sudden comment in the middle of our silence. I looked around again, making sure who knew what Satya meant there were couples around us. "Ki... We?" tanya I was nervous, because I did not see any other young people besides me and Satya at the restaurant.

Satya smiled knot. "So your mood is good, next week want to go on a date with me?"

"Ke-dating?" I could feel the heat on my cheeks running through my ears. Satya looked at me without blinking, while I was even misbehaving. "Satya doesn't have to be ready for the graduation exam?"

"If so, would you like to study together?" Satya propped up her chin with one hand. Her smile was still attached to her beautiful lips, perfectly curved like a crescent moon.

"Our lessons are different, brother."

"Gue can teach you how well you are treated. Look, I'm a good teacher."

I swallowed with great difficulty. Holy hooch! The heart cannot relax either! I panicked myself.

"Excuse me, order!" a waiter approached with a tray full of our orders. "Double sirloin steak, tenderloin steak, spaghetti, potato wedges, chicken steak, potato salad," the waiter dictated our order. "For a drink, please wait a minute."

"Thank you" answered Satya and I before the servant left.

Not long after, Gilang returned from the toilet. Without saying much more, he devoured the order already available on the table.

"Wanna try?" bargain Satya suddenly, brandishing a piece of chicken steak towards me. "Byeah!"

Spontaneous, I open my mouth. Don't know why, I don't want to miss the chance to get a bribe from Satya.

"Lo eat it yourself!" Satya shuddered in disgust.

"Mighty mole! I want to try the chicken steak!"

Satya pushed her order to reach out to Gilang herself. "Please, Young Master!"

The words of Satya, who asked me to go on a date, kept ringing in my ears. The pounding that kept my body warm, kept coming.

"Debi?" call someone from outside my room.

I knew right away that it was Brother Dika. "So, Brother!"

Dika's sister appeared from behind the door. "Again what?" ask, then walk closer.

"No longer what," answered me who was daydreaming from earlier. "Same mother Dad is still discussing the problem so move or not?"

"Yes." Yeah." Brother Dika is sitting next to me. "Dad would support your opinion to stay here. But, Mother didn't. You yourself know, don't you, how persistent Mom is."

I took a long breath. My mother is the same as me if I made a decision. We're gonna be very stubborn and annoying people. "If according to Brother Dika, Debi how good, huh?"

Brother Dika twisted my long hair. "Sister supports you. Moving from here is not a way out. Why forget Rena? Wouldn't it be nice if the heartache we bring lasts forever? Rena deserves a special place in your heart."

"Sir Dika is right. Rena has to remember Debi forever."

Dika smiled hearing my answer. "By the way, how was your trip with Satya and Gilang?"

"They fought on, like a kindergarten boy fighting over toys."

"Rarely, you know, there are friends like them."

"Oh, yes, Brother!" I decided to tell you about the new sensations I have received since Rena's heart was in my body. "Rena's heart is hyperactive. Not in ugly. This heart sometimes beats because Kak Satya is near me."

Kak Dika's forehead is wrinkled. "meaning?"

"If Sis Satya holds Debi's hand, watches Debi silently, or swoops Debi, Rena's heart will beat a lot!"

"You've got a time near Satya?"

"Not Debi, Brother!" i'm correcting. "This is Rena's heart. Those reactions arise because Rena has a crush on Kak Satya."

"Don't bod-"

"Debi?" Mom cut our conversation. He came into my room with my father. "We had a discussion about your move."

"Debi wants to stay here, ma'am!" sambar I quickly while getting up from sitting. I want to express my desire once again, as a sign that I made a decision steadily.

She looked at the father who was silent behind her. Dad nodded once, as if answering a question that came out of Mom's eyes. "Alright, Mother relented," replied Mother in the end. "Mother didn't move you out of town."

I smiled sumringah, thanking Father and Sister Dika who supported my desire. In this way, I can still continue to live here and the date promise with Satya, can be fulfilled.
