"What?" ask Valeda. His ears were ringing at once like they were clogged. He could hear Rangga shrieking quietly behind him, but also could not hear his father snorting in annoyance in front of him. Daniel's big smile didn't explain anything. A second ago he said something else when he met Rangga in his office, then this second he instead said that Valeda was pregnant.
Valeda's head turned rapidly. Daniel's smile is charming, but Valeda must know their position now. Daniel said he was going to lure someone, I don't know who that is. Daniel's current words must have something to do with the plan he had. Daniel can't just talk nonsense.
Valeda traced Daniel's face. He smiled broadly and charmingly, but there was something different about his eyes. It was not a gaze that expressed happiness, but vigilance. Valeda quickly caught up to the situation.
"You lied!" Rangga.
Daniel looked back at Valeda, where Rangga was standing not far from the black sofa that Daniel was sitting on. Daniel examined Rangga's face. He knew that Rangga and Mr. Suherman were not fools. Of course they don't believe what he says. However, he had managed to make Mr. Suherman upset. He loved his daughter so much. His daughter is the only son of Mr. Suherman who is "insistent" and has equal intelligence regarding business.
"You promised not to touch Love!" Rangga. He could not hide the angry tone in his voice.
Daniel leaned back. He took a deep breath, then released it slowly. "I'm sorry." said Daniel slowly. "But I want Mr. Suherman to know the truth. I don't want Valeda to be agitated by this. Especially at a young age."
BRACKET!
Rangga kicked off Mr. Suherman's desk next to him. "YOU KNOW FOR YOURSELF THAT LOVE IS YOUNG! YOU'RE LYING, AREN'T YOU!?" the emotions of Rangga. He didn't even care about his painful throbbing hands. His face was as red as fire and he seemed ready to devour Daniel alive.
Mr. Suherman raised his left hand. "Enough" he said. Mr. Suherman knew, if he did not stop Rangga, there would be fights in his study, sooner or later. "I wasn't thinking clearly and was immediately angry at Val," Mr. Suherman continued. "If it's true what you're saying, we'd better go straight to the hospital and check Val's contents."
Valeda swallowed his saliva with great difficulty. He knew that his father was not easily fooled. Of course Mr. Suherman will ask for proof of what Daniel said. 'God! How's now? The doctor must have said I wasn't pregnant!' batin Valeda. Cold sweat spots began to form on his forehead.
Valeda saw Daniel reach into the backpack that had been perched sweetly at his feet. "I've guessed you'd say that, sir," said Daniel. He pulled out an envelope with the logo of one of the famous hospitals in the area. It is not a hospital owned by Valeda. If he were to use Valeda hospital, Mr. Suherman would suspect the USG's results. "This is the result of Valeda's USG last night." Daniel thrust the envelope at Mr. Suherman.
Mr. Suherman did not immediately welcome the envelope from Daniel's hand. He examined Daniel's facial features for a few seconds, before deciding to receive the envelope. "Every night?" Mr. Suherman repeated Daniel's words.
"Yes, Sir. Last night," Daniel said, not forgetting a big smile.
'This kid is very good at theatrics, ' Valeda thought. However, in his little heart, he wished Daniel's plan to go smoothly. Although he didn't know for sure, he would also get into trouble if they missteps or Mr. Suherman would become suspicious.
Mr. Suherman opened the envelope, making Valeda's heart leap as if it were coming out of his chest cavity. His sharp eyes read a piece of paper from inside the envelope very carefully, as if looking for a gap to deny the news that his daughter was pregnant. "Eight weeks.." he muttered almost inaudibly. Then his hand began to reach into the envelope again, removing some sheets of USG prints. "God.." whispered.
"No way!" exclamation Rangga. "Oom, let's go to the hospital one more time to make sure!" her door. Both of Rangga's hands clenched at his sides. He was ready to beat Daniel. "This is all Daniel's engineering! Don't be fooled by him!"
"Haha!" Daniel laughed crisply in response to Rangga's words. "Your words are unfounded, Rangga," he said. "I'm not a person with a lot of ruse. I just want my loved ones to be happy with me and I won't use dirty ways to get what I want" Daniel said in a low tone.
"Rangga, come on," Mr. Suherman interceded again. He threw the ultrasound onto the table. His hand rubbed his face with an uneasy feeling. "Let's talk honestly" Suherman began. "Daniel, do you think that I don't know who you really are?"
Daniel remained silent. He doesn't want to guess. Daniel chose to wait for Mr. Suherman to say what he wanted to say. Daniel does not want to be trapped inside the house of the man who wants to kill him at this time for claiming to have impregnated his daughter.
"You're Hendra's son, right? One of my employees first?" Mr. Suherman continued. "You're the kid who caused the fire in the greenhouse and almost got Val to shit."
Daniel's hand clenched. He could barely control his emotions. The fact that it was he who had saved Valeda from the flames, was not in the spotlight in Mr. Suherman's talk.
"How did you get to know Val when you were all grown up? Ah, of course! Who doesn't know Val? She is a beautiful and smart woman. All the men admired him. Then, you deliberately approached her, right? Cheap tricks that lowly people like yourself use" said Mr. Suherman. "Your father failed to raise you."
"Papa, enough!" bentak Valeda's. "Papa's words are outrageous!"
"Val, did you know that Daniel almost killed you when you were kids?" Mr. Suherman refused to stop.
"But Val's alive, right?" bela Valedav. "Val still doesn't remember clearly, but Val is convinced that Daniel wasn't the one who caused the fire!"
Both of Mr. Suherman's eyes were squeaking. "You're defending him more now than your father? I clearly saw the two of you coming out of that greenhouse!"
"That means Daniel helped Val, right?" Valeda still defends.
Mr. Suherman held his breath. He could barely control himself in front of his only daughter. "No. Whatever your reasons, I can't let you marry this obscure man! I don't even know her parents!"
"If you can quickly recognize me, you should know if both of my parents have died by suicide, right?" Daniel added.
"God!" Mr. Suherman snorted. "You heard it yourself, Val? His parents alone could not handle the rigors of the world. How could you live with a man like this? Leave him and throw the child in your womb!"
Valeda stands. He was concerned to hear Mr. Suherman's words. "Enough, Papa!" annoyed. He pulled Daniel up to stand next to him. "Whatever Papa says, I still love Daniel and I know what kind of person he is! I'll marry her!" Valeda pulled Daniel's hand without warning.
Daniel grabs his backpack in a hurry and follows Valeda's hand to the outside. Daniel breathed a sigh of relief. For a while, he was safe from Mr. Suherman's lunge. He's just waiting to see if anyone catches the bait now.
