63. Joint

Valeda entered the ER room for the umpteenth time. He didn't expect that he would come to his hospital this often.

He looked around. The atmosphere of the hospital ER was quite crowded at that time, as usual days.

"Miss Valeda?" someone said his name.

Valeda turned his head and found a middle-aged man in a white shirt standing nearby. "Good day, Doc," Valeda said hello to the person he knew as the director of his hospital.

"Is Miss looking for Mr Daniel?" terka Doctor Alan. "I went straight down to check on Mr. Daniel as soon as I got a report from the ER doctor. Miss don't have to worry."

Just getting there, Valeda was already relieved. He finally understood why he entrusted his hospital to someone like Doctor Alan. In addition to his soothing smile, Doctor Alan was smart to control the atmosphere. He looks like Daniel.

"Let's take Miss to see Mr. Daniel. I'll explain everything when Miss has seen Mr. Daniel first."

Valeda nodded in agreement with Doctor Alan's words. He followed Doctor Alan towards a bed covered in blue curtains along the ankle.

"Please," Dr. Alan split the curtain so that Valeda could enter.

Valeda bowed as he passed Doctor Alan. He did not dare to look at Daniel, even though they were only a meter away.

"Wal..."

Valeda was startled and spontaneously raised his head, upon hearing Daniel's voice. Tears immediately flooded his eye patch. Their eyes met and it made Valeda happy.

"You're here" Daniel said with a smile.

Valeda immediately hugged Daniel while crying as she pleased. He can't cover how relieved he is. Finding Daniel alive makes Valeda forget himself.

Daniel returned Valeda's embrace. Actually, he was happy to see the woman in front of him. The first thing Daniel wanted to see when he opened his eyes was Valeda. "Hey, hey, don't hug me too tight" Daniel asked.

Valeda took off his embrace. He rubbed his tears violently. "What's going on?" ask Valeda.

"Some one attacked me. I don't know what they mean yet" replied Daniel.

Valeda turned to Doctor Alan who was still standing near the foot of the bed. "What's Daniel's condition right now, Doc?" ask Valeda.

"Mr Daniel came in with a minor head injury, a stab wound to the back, and some hand injuries. According to the people who drove him here, Mr. Daniel was attacked by several people. Fortunately, Mr. Daniel's injuries were not severe. We've treated all his wounds. CT scans are not too problematic either. Mr. Daniel only needs to rest for a few days in the hospital for observation of his head injury" Dr. Alan explained.

Valeda nodded in understanding. "Thank you, Doc. Now, I want some time alone with Daniel" Valeda said.

"All right." Doctor Alan nodded once and withdrew from Daniel's room.

"How did you know I was here?" Daniel stroked Valeda's head. "How long have we not seen each other?"

"Don't be lebay!" Valeda laughed softly, but her tears still dripped. "We just met yesterday."

"You want to cry or laugh, anyway? Pick one, dong," seduced Daniel.

Valeda again wiped away her cheek-drenched tears. "I was so scared that I finally saw you."

"I will not die for this" said Daniel.

Valeda punched Daniel in the arm with an annoyed face. "Don't say anything about death!"

Daniel rubbed Valeda's cheek, he could feel how worried Valeda was. His cheeks felt cold because of the tears that kept wetting.

The curtains open violently. Valeda looked back. How shocked he was when he saw his parents standing there.

"Papa? Mama?" Valeda stood up from his seat. "Why are you here?" ask Valeda.

"Everyone knows where you are" replied Mrs Emely in a stern tone. "What the fuck? Why did this happen? Then, why are you the one who should be the topic of media talks, Val?"

Valeda's forehead is wrinkled. "What does Mama mean?"

Mr. Suherman handed over three newspapers to Valeda. "You're in the headlines. All the news about the incident that befell the children of the orphanage as well as Daniel," replied Mr. Suherman.

Valeda read the headlines on the first page of the paper one by one. Everything does display its name, but in an unpleasant context.

"You should have kept your good name, Val. Why is this just because of that guy?" hiss Mrs Emely.

Valeda hugged the newspaper. He didn't want Daniel to see it. "Val will handle this, Ma" replied Valeda.

"No, Val," said Mr. Suherman. "Not this time. Look, you're accused of being the cause of all these accidents."

Valeda gulped with great difficulty as her father said so in front of Daniel. Actually, Valeda also knew the possibility of that happening. Valeda has many business competitors. There will be plenty of loopholes for those who want to take down Valeda, if Valeda has someone weak next to him.

"You should be dating someone who can protect you and protect your company" added Mrs Emely.

"If it's like this, we can't keep quiet, Val" said Mr. Suherman. "Connect with Daniel. We will compensate you for your precious first love."

Valeda bit her lower lip. He did not want to part from Daniel in this way. Daniel was an important person to him. At the very least, he had to straighten out a few things and figure out who was the mastermind behind all this. If he parted with Daniel right now, everything would be in vain.

"Sorry, Sir. I don't agree." Suddenly Daniel spoke.

"You have no right to speak, Daniel," replied Mr. Suherman.

"Although, given my current aggrieved, I would like to speak." Daniel sounded good. His eyes flashed, looking back at Mr. Suherman. "I won't part with Valeda, unless Valeda himself wants it."

Valeda turned to Daniel. Without hesitation, Daniel returned his gaze. Valeda could not judge the meaning of Daniel's gaze for her. Valeda's head was filled with great fear, if Daniel ended up hating him.

"You've been feeling how hard it is with Valeda, haven't you?" Mr. Suherman added. "You have too many weaknesses and it will affect Valeda."

"I admit, there are too many people I have to protect. From this incident as well, I admit, the rich have a dirty way of fulfilling their desires."

"Haha! Are you accusing us?" Mrs Emely sounded offended.

"I didn't say anything about it" replied Daniel kalem. "Once I was with Valeda, I realized there would be a lot of obstacles that I had to face. Do you think I'm not ready for this kind of thing?"

"How dare you—"

"I will find the mastermind behind all the chaos. Don't involve Valeda, "Daniel interrupted Madame Emely's sentence.

An agonizing silence approached them for a few seconds. Valeda did not dare to take any action to end it. Hearing Daniel say that, made him confused should feel sad or happy.

The touch of Daniel in his hand made Valeda wake up from the daydream. Daniel stroked her slowly, as if to tell Valeda that everything would be fine.

"Val wants to be with Daniel, Pa.." said Valeda quietly, but can still be heard by his parents.
