Daniel pulled his hand from Valeda's waist towards his nape. Valeda can feel his hair bristling. Quietly, Valeda enjoyed every touch that Daniel gave.
Valeda lowered her head, the shame overrunning her body as soon as she realized that Daniel was looking at her fixedly. The dimly lit living room lights hid Valeda's red face.
"Please watch your step, Val," whispered Daniel.
Valeda realized that his movements began not to be in rhythm with the music that flowed. His concentration was scrapped because he was too focused on the man God created before him.
"Your father is quietly watching us" Daniel added. "Do I have to do something much more convincing?"
"For example?" ask Valeda. He thought that Daniel would pull him down into his arms. It gives an intimate impression that all couples have.
Daniel pulled his hand from the nape of Valeda, then stroked Valeda's pointed chin. Their eyes intertwined for a few seconds. Daniel bowed, landing a kiss on Valeda's forehead.
Three seconds. Only three seconds of time passed. However, for Valeda, it felt like months. In that short time, Valeda was able to clearly remember how soft and warm Daniel's lips were. How Daniel's breath tickled his forehead. How Daniel's great hand rubbed his chin.
Valeda opened her eyes as soon as Daniel had pulled his lips from Valeda's forehead. Daniel smiled gently. The light of his eyes made Valeda fall.
'Val! Remember the rules, Val! You don't waver!' valeda's screams in the heart. Unknowingly, he had already stopped dancing. His feet no longer followed the rhythm of music that filled the middle room of his parents' house.
"Ehem!" Mr. Suherman was suddenly by their side. He looked at Daniel and Valeda who were still clinging to each other. "Are you not tired of dancing?" ask Mr. Suherman.
Daniel laughed a little. Actually, he and Valeda had only danced for about ten minutes. "Are you jealous because your only daughter is now, being engrossed with her boyfriend?" Daniel commented.
"Haha!" Mr. Suherman laughed crisply. "I've never felt jealous of anyone" he replied in a haughty tone. "Let's have a chat before you go home."
Valeda and Daniel exchanged glances, then nodded at the same time. Mr. Suherman led them to the living room, where there would only be three of them.
What a beautiful afternoon. The sky is very bright with a beautiful orange tinge, accompanying the sun that will sink. Mr. Suherman invited Daniel to dinner together. Despite the suddenness, Daniel agrees and comes with Valeda. It is impolite for Daniel to refuse the goodwill of his lover's parents even if he is just pretending. Daniel feels he has to play the role perfectly, because Valeda has helped him a lot.
Daniel and Valeda follow Mr. Suherman sitting first on the living room sofa of his house. The sound of dance music that flowed softly from the direction of the middle room, they could still hear.
Mrs Emely did not join. He was quite surprised by Daniel's presence, as it turned out that Mr. Suherman had not told him about this dinner invitation. So, after finishing dinner, Madam Emely immediately ran away from the dining table.
Ah, of course not just them. Valeda's three older brothers were also present. Alex is with his secretary - in connection with Mr. Suherman asking to bring a couple, but Alex is still alone. Unlike his other two brothers. It doesn't matter about Joan. He always brings a different woman every time Mr. Suherman invites dinner. This time, Lucas ventured to bring the wife he had secretly married. No one knows about Lucas' relationship except for Valeda and Daniel. Neither Mr. Suherman nor Mrs Emely paid much attention to Lucas because they were too focused on Daniel. Of course, Daniel was an ordinary man more interesting to watch, than the foreign woman Lucas brought.
After dinner, Mr. Suherman invited his children to dance to ease their digestion. This ritual has been going on for years. However, this time it felt strange for Mr. Suherman, because his little daughter was dancing.
Mr. Suherman raised his hand, asking a servant to bring them some warm tea. "I didn't expect it," Mr. Suherman started the conversation, "you guys can last all this time with vastly different social statuses."
"I didn't expect it either" replied Daniel. He glanced at Valeda.
"I can't comment on anything, because I married an ordinary woman, too" added Mr. Suherman. "Did you really feel right for each other?"
"If Val doesn't fit in, it can't be Val's been with Daniel all this time" Valeda replied.
"When are you getting married?"
"Me-married?" Valeda could not answer.
Daniel smiled wryly at Valeda. He had not expected to get such a question from Mr. Suherman.
"We haven't thought about getting there, Pa," Valeda continued.
Mr. Suherman crossed his arms in front of his chest. "Young people who are stricken with love like you, stepping wrong once, can make a good name bad."
"Val make sure there won't be anything like that, Pa!" Valeda answered quickly with a flushed face. "After all, we just started this relationship. Val wants to enjoy a longer courtship."
"Val," Daniel clasped Valeda's hand. "Your father's words were meant for me" he said.
"What?"
"Your father was worried that I would be a wolf pouncing on his prey mercilessly. After all, I'm a normal man" Daniel explained, because Valeda had a clueless face.
"Good, Papa! We are not such people!" snapped Valeda with a face as red as boiled shrimp. In fact, she was so ashamed of Daniel, because they were just pretending to be dating. Such a thing would never happen between the two of them.
"No need to dodge that hard" said Mr. Suherman. He was silent for a moment because a servant came in with a tray of three cups of warm tea for them. "If you feel fit, you'd better get married soon. My mom and dad will prepare everything. The problem of residence, Papa will try to buy a spacious and comfortable apartment, so you can stay there until giving birth to grandchildren for Papa later. Or, do you want to have a residential house like this one? Papa will make. You'll also get the rights to your abilities at the company later, Daniel."
Daniel gestured to Valeda as Mr. Suherman grabbed his teacup. Valeda gave a small nod, understanding what Daniel meant. "Pa, by the way, Val had only seen the woman Kak Lucas was carrying for the first time" Valeda said.
Mr. Suherman put his tea cup back on the table. "Why? Are you bothered by rumors that your brother is a same-sex person?" ask Mr. Suherman. "Well, in this place of ours, it is still taboo to talk about. Papa also did not want to draw any conclusions about anything. All three of your brothers only need to prove themselves if they want to hold the company that Papa will inherit for them."
Valeda looked at the silent Daniel. "Do you want a grandson?" ask Valeda suddenly.
Mr. Suherman was stunned to hear Valeda's question. "Good-grandson? You want to give Papa a grandson? Are you pregnant, Val?" Mr. Suherman clapped his hands with a summringah face. "The Father will not refuse!"
"Not us!" valeda replied quickly, so that the misunderstanding of his father did not spread here and there.
"Then who? Alex? Ahaha!" Mr. Suherman laughed again. "Alex is too focused. All the blind dates your mother set up were messy because Alex messed it up."
"Not Alex's sister."
"Then, Joan? Playboy like him can be loyal to one woman. Papa couldn't even remember the face of the woman he had brought before," argued Mr. Suherman. "What do you mean Lucas?"
Valeda swallowed his saliva with great difficulty. Daniel sat motionless next to him. Valeda did not dare to justify his father's words.
"Hhh..." Mr. Suherman let out a long sigh. "Lucas are the most unpredictable."
"Sister Lucas is married" the line slid from Daniel's mouth.
