The weather that afternoon when Valeda reached the lobby of his office was very bad. A gray cloud hung low above his head. Heavy rain greets the earth endlessly. Cold air penetrates to the bones.
"It feels like it represents my feelings" Valeda murmured to herself. He took a few steps and extended his hand. Dense rain spots hit his palm. It feels cold and painful.
"Miss!" kris' voice sounded from behind Valeda. He walked quickly to Valeda on the porch of the office. "Why not call me when I'm done?" ask him with a breath.
"Why is that so boring? You're running off?" Valeda asked back.
"I went to Miss's room to check if Miss is still busy or has come home. But it looks like we didn't meet in the same elevator. When I got to the top, Celine said that Miss had come down from there" replied Kris.
Valeda has been down since ten minutes ago and enjoys the sound of rain falling. "You go home first. I'm driving alone." Valeda reached out her hand, asking Kris to hand over her car keys.
"But, Miss--"
"Have, don't argue. I'm trying to drive myself" Valeda cut.
Kris handed over the car keys with a heavy heart. He knows that his boss is in trouble and it always ends badly if Valeda drives his own car. "I'll wait until Miss gets home."
"What's different about being taken home?" reject Valeda. "You go first. Or, pick up Celine and have her have dinner together."
Kris did not flinch. He was still not sure to leave his nona alone. He felt responsible for Valeda's safety from the beginning of Valeda's eye-opening, to his return to his apartment.
Valeda sighed because Kris did not leave either. He approached Kris and glanced around before whispering. "There's actually someone I'm waiting for."
"But Daniel is home" Kris replied quickly. "I met him an hour ago."
Valeda stomped his feet. "You don't have to explain everything! Now, home!" hiss Valeda is upset.
Valeda actually knew that Daniel had come home from here. When he passed Daniel's table, the place was empty. The office hours have passed since an hour ago. Valeda doesn't want to believe that Daniel is avoiding him. So, he decided to wait for Daniel in the office. Who knows, Daniel comes over with coffee and greets Valeda who is waiting in the lobby of his office.
Valeda turned and turned to look at Kris. He had no intention of chatting with Kris at this time. His mind was too chaotic and he felt ridiculous because of it.
'He cannot come, ' Inner Valeda was sad. He turned back to face Chris. "I went home by myself" he said, then went to the elevator to go to the basement floor, where his car had been parked since this morning.
The steps are getting more and more shaky. Valeda was very disappointed that he could not solve the problem with Daniel. He became as agitated as he was now.
Valeda got into his car. He took a deep breath before turning the key. Just a second ago the roar of his car filled the basement floor, his phone ringing from inside the bag.
Valeda reached into her bag and saw who called her at this hour. "Rangga," he murmured while reading the name on the phone screen. "Ah, right... She'll take Mama and Papa to dinner."
Valeda's finger did not move to receive incoming calls from Rangga. He just stared at the phone screen in silence. On the seventh ring, Valeda's phone finally went quiet again.
TING!
Valeda. A message came into his cell phone. Apparently Rangga who did not know that Valeda deliberately did not pick up the phone from him, sent a message. Valeda opened the message half-heartedly. He already knew that Rangga would send a short message containing news about dinner later. Valeda is not intending to attend any events.
He throws his phone into the bag after reading Rangga's short message quickly. Nothing arouses his interest at the moment. Valeda put his teeth in and started stepping on the gas pedal. His mind led him down the road to the Orphanage of the Rising Sun.
Valeda stopped his car not far from the orphanage. The two-meter-high chocolate gate was tightly closed. Valeda did not hear anything because of the sound of rain hitting the body of his car.
One minute... Two minutes... Three minutes... Four minutes... Five minutes finally passed. Valeda just looked blankly at the gate of the orphanage. His courage shrank as time went on. He didn't even pay attention to his stomach wailing for food, as it was past lunch and now dinner time.
But Daniel was not alone. He carried a little child curled up in his arms, sheltering from the torrent of rain behind Daniel's arms. "Crazy him! Why don't you wear an umbrella!?" exclaimed Valeda when aware of the situation.
Valeda grabbed an umbrella on the back seat of his car and got out of the car immediately. He did not open his umbrella properly when he was outside the car. His eyes were fixed on Daniel who was running towards him. "Daniel!" exclaim Valeda fast.
Daniel, who was initially focused on looking at the path in front of him, turned his head toward the source of the voice. Valeda wasted no time and immediately thrust out the umbrella that he finally managed to open onto Daniel's head. "Valeda's? Why are you here?" ask Daniel.
Valeda did not reply, but lowered his head to see who Daniel was carrying. "Why roses?" valeda asked, realizing who the owner of the long wavy hair was.
"In-he has a high fever" Daniel answered. The panic took hold of him again. "I have to go to the hospital right away."
"Get in the car! I'll drop you off!" valeda's orders. He pulled Daniel's arm and led him towards the car. "Hurry up!" Valeda opened the back door when he arrived.
Daniel got into the car quickly. As soon as the back door closed, Valeda ran towards the steering bench and also entered as fast as he could. He didn't care if his velvet seat was wet with rainwater. This is the first time Valeda doesn't care about her favorite things. Valeda turned the car around and headed for the hospital at high speed.
"Damn!" daniel is on his way.
Valeda glanced back through the rearview mirror and saw the Roses convulsing, while Daniel tried to keep the Roses on their backs and raise the heads of the Roses. "Is the rose okay?" Valeda panicked. His legs shook violently, while his hands were ice-cold.
"Roses!" exclaim Daniel. "Roses, listen Brother Dan! Breathe out!" Daniel gave artificial breath to the blue rose.
Valeda pulled his gaze back to the front. He could not see what was happening behind him. 'Focus, Val! All you can do now is get to the hospital quickly! Don't panic!' valeda thought, trying to regain his consciousness.
Valeda prayed during the journey that the state of the Roses would not worsen, so that the Roses could survive to the hospital, and so that he would not see the desperate face of Daniel as he was now. Ten minutes that felt like a century had passed. Valeda stopped in front of his hospital just like that. He went out and opened the door for Daniel.
Daniel darted into the IGD while carrying the Rose in his arms. Valeda followed behind with her legs shaking violently. He could not feel his fingers. His head was empty and his ears were buzzing.
Valeda stood near the entrance, watching the Roses on a bed mobbed with four medics. Daniel took a few steps back to make room for the officers. Valeda coughed on his own saliva because his throat was so dry. He dared not approach the Rose or Daniel.
One of the medics came to Daniel and they talked for a long time. Sayup-sayup, Valeda can hear Daniel explain the condition of the Roses carefully.
"Miss!"
Valeda turned around, finding Kris and Celine behind him. "You guys?"
"Kris insisted on following you, so I lent him my car" Celine explained. "What's wrong?"
Valeda. He doesn't know in detail what happened. However, if you have to tell me what Valeda saw in the car earlier, he chose to be quiet. The face of the Rose that turned blue during the seizure caused a trauma in his memory.
Celine looked at Kris. Kris, who seemed to understand Celine's thoughts, nodded once and then left Valeda with Celine. "Are you okay?" ask Celine. He took off Kris's coat, which was draped over his shoulder, and then replaced it with Valeda's wet shoulder.
"That's all right," said Valeda.
Celine squeezed Valeda's shoulder as she looked straight at him. "You need this more!" says firmly. "Come, let's find a seat first. You need to calm yourself."
Valeda agreed. He should be able to master himself, so he can think more clearly and calmly. Valeda glanced at Daniel who was still standing near the bed of the Roses. Kris was there, too, talking to the medics who had been talking to Daniel.
'Yes, God... Do not let anything bad happen, Valeda prayed in his heart.
