67. Advance

Rangga seemed to dislike Daniel who underestimated him. His face was bent and his eyebrows were perfectly wrinkled. Daniel had never seen Rangga this sorry before.

"Ah, what is it?" Valeda noticed the bag on the table. Before Rangga came, the bag was not there.

She smiled back at Valeda. "I brought you lunch, Love," replied Rangga kalem. Instantly his expression turned calm again.

Valeda glanced at Daniel. He remembered that Daniel did not like it if Rangga called him 'Love'. But, that's been going on for a long time. Valeda needs time to talk about it with Rangga.

"You don't have to bother bringing us lunch" replied Valeda.

Rangga. "I didn't bring it to Daniel. Just you," said Rangga. "Do you have time? After dinner, I'll take you away."

Valeda was worried. A second ago, Daniel warned him not to trust anyone who came and ate nothing. But, this is Rangga. Rangga who is his family and also his best friend since childhood. Valeda felt that he knew Rangga inside and out. Why can't he trust anyone who came after this?

"You said you were hungry, didn't you, Val?" suddenly Daniel made a sound.

Valeda gasped and became confused by Daniel's words. He threw a 'what do you mean' look at Daniel without making a sound.

"If you don't want to, let me eat" Daniel snatched the bag on the table, but deftly caught Rangga. "Well, whoa... Until you take care of food for Valeda? What is this? Gold?"

"It's none of your business" hardik Rangga. "Is Valeda's salary still lacking, so you'll take her lunch too?"

Daniel smiled in anguish. "Was Valeda that poor, until you bring him all lunch?" hatch Daniel. "Actually, what's in that food, until I can't try it?"

Rangga laughed loudly. "What suspicions did you just say? Are you acting as a detective? Or did your sister's death drive you crazy?"

Daniel smiled in anguish. "Whoever loses his brother will go mad" Daniel replied.

Silence fell around them. Rangga did not continue his argument, while Daniel stared straight at Rangga, as if unafraid. Valeda who was in the middle, became confused as to how.

"Mmm," Valeda twisted his brain. "I-I'll eat the food you brought, Ga," Valeda said in the end.

"How about we eat in the car?" bargain Rangga. "There's a place I want to go with you, Val."

Valeda turned to look at Daniel. Daniel nodded at a glance. "I can't hold you back, can I? You're not a prisoner" Daniel was a joke.

Rangga stood up without trying to mince words again. His intention to leave that place was clearly visible on his face. In fact, he did not seem to want to cover up his wish.

"Rangga, I want to talk to Daniel a little more. Can you wait for me outside?" valeda asked, before following Rangga walking towards his office door.

There was a flash of hatred that Rangga threw at Daniel for a few seconds. But, he finally relented and walked out of Valeda's room.

Valeda turned around, he was about to say something to Daniel. However, before he let out a sound, Daniel gave a signal to be silent. Daniel moved closer. "All will be well. You're not the target" whispered Daniel as slowly as possible.

Bad thoughts suddenly ambushed Valeda's consciousness. Seeing Daniel looking straight at him, he seemed to know what the man in front of him was thinking.

"It's okay. You take it easy" Daniel said again, this time smiling. Daniel knew that he had said something that worried Valeda. Daniel rubbed Valeda's cheek with the back of his hand. Valeda's cheeks were cold. Daniel knows Valeda can't be calm at the moment. Valeda is no ordinary woman. But, this time things were different and he was good at reading the situation.

"Val," Daniel said slowly in a soft tone. "I love you so much. Sorry if I broke my promise. But, I don't want to let you go again."

Valeda laughed softly. "What, anyway? Why are you suddenly talking like that?"

Daniel laughed softly. "I believe in you. You can control things when I'm not around, right?"

Valeda nodded confidently. He wanted the man before him to trust him. Valeda realized that Daniel had been through a lot for his sake. He declares his love twice and ends their contract. The thought that Daniel said the same thing a second ago, made his heart flower.

"I'll pick you up as soon as possible. Be patient..."

Valeda nodded once more. He knew he could trust Daniel. Valeda followed Rangga who was waiting for him outside.

Daniel sat back on the couch. He stretched his neck. He had to immediately think of a way to get out of this situation. Daniel knew that the more he bought time, the more likely his younger siblings were to be in danger. So is he with himself. He is confronted by a madman who has no mercy.

"Do I have to break into his house to look for evidence?" ask Daniel to himself. Then, he shook his head quickly. "That's the same as me burying myself alive."

Daniel rises. He walked as fast as he could. While passing Celine outside Valeda's office, Daniel pauses.

"Are you going now?" Celine mince words.

"I have to catch a rat that makes me like this" Daniel replied with a smile.

"Kris can take you, '" said Celine.

Daniel looked at Celine closely. "You better be careful. It's possible that the rat is also targeting you" Daniel said.

Celine moved uneasily. "Actually.." he said slowly. "I'm worried about Kris."

"Is something going on?" ask Daniel. Celine did not answer. Daniel knew that Celine was weighing whether or not she was going to tell a story. "Tell me. Whatever it is, even if it's just a little thing."

"My family and I can protect ourselves. We are quite wary of anything around us, because our world is like this" Celine began. "But Kris..."

Daniel understood at once with Celine's intention. "You can prove your love for Kris right now. If money doesn't matter to you, of course what Valeda did to me, you can do to Kris" Daniel suggested.

Celine smiled little. Actually he had hired some people to look after Kris and his family.

"I have to go" said Daniel.

"Be careful!"

Daniel thought of a way he might be able to lure his enemy out and make a mistake.
