Mr. Suherman did not budge. He and Daniel looked at each other. The atmosphere present in the living room turned extremely cold.
"You kidding?" Mr. Suherman let out a voice.
Daniel shook his head slowly. "Sister Lucas is not as brave as Valeda, because Kak Lucas' life is in the hands of Mr. Suherman and Mrs Emely. Brother Lucas is very afraid if you or Mrs Emely know, that she has fallen in love with an ordinary woman."
Mr. Suherman got up from his seat. His face looks crooked. It is clear that he is angry.
"Sir, free angry now," Daniel added. "Rather than being angry, how about you see your adorable grandkids?"
"What's? 'Grandsons'? Does that mean I have more than one grandchild?" hiss Mr. Suherman.
"Sister Lucas had twins" Daniel replied.
Mr. Suherman fell sitting on his couch. "How long has he been lying to his parents?"
"Sir, why are you focusing on that?" ask Daniel. "Did you not see the bright side? After all, up to this point, Brother Lucas can still keep your family's good name."
"It's not a trivial matter" said Mr. Suherman."
"Nothing about Valeda's marriage that you just said" Daniel added. "Master can easily discuss a wedding in front of your daughter. Shouldn't your son's problems be made easy too?"
"What do you mean, Daniel?" ask Mr. Suherman. He sat straight on his couch. His eyes glinted at the words of Daniel.
"You can make a good impression by announcing the marriage of Brother Lucas. Make it clear that all this time, you hid the truth because you wanted to protect Lucas' wife and children. I think, enjoying the days with your grandchildren, is more important than asking us to get married quickly." Daniel grabbed his cup of tea, then sipped it. He deliberately sipped his tea many times, giving time for Master Suherman to think.
Valeda threw a look of admiration from Daniel. He believes in giving up his future in Daniel's hands.
'Ah, not the future to live together forever, sure! But to get out of the match-making problem my parents did, ' Inner Valeda tried to assert her chaotic thoughts. He feels too carried away, so he must repeatedly remind that he must not fall in love with Daniel, his own co-worker.
Mr. Suherman pinched his painful forehead. Getting the news about one of her children being married, turned out to be a heavy blow for her. There were a couple of grandchildren that he did not know about. "I have to talk to Lucas" said Mr. Suherman in a calmer tone.
"We won't interfere more than this. But, the news you have grandkids that you are very protective of, will raise your good name. I will help whatever I can" Daniel got up from his seat. Valeda hurriedly followed.
"You're coming back now?" ask Mr. Suherman.
Daniel nodded. "I'd like to give you some privacy, Sir," Daniel replied. "After all, Valeda seems tired after working hard all day. I'll make sure he rests well tonight."
"Ohuk!" Mr. Suherman coughed at Daniel's words. "W-are you accompanying Valeda to sleep?"
"I don't think I'll get permission to do what you say" Daniel said with a smile.
"You're so good at talking, Dan. Alright, be careful on the road," said Mr. Suherman. He walked towards Valeda, then hugged his daughter. "Take care of yourself, honey. If anything bothers you, call Papa immediately."
"No need to worry, Pa," replied Valeda.
Mr. Suherman walked out of his living room, letting his daughter and Daniel fare as Daniel had said just a moment ago.
"Daniel!" hiss Valeda while squeezing Daniel's suit sleeve. "I didn't expect that you would say everything now. I thought, we're just going to talk about Kak Lucas' wife indirectly."
In fact, their original plan would only address the 'woman Lucas brought' this afternoon. Lucas had never brought a woman before if there was a family event. Valeda intended to get a good gap and tell Mr. Suherman slowly. But Daniel did something beyond expectations.
Valeda can't say what Daniel did was wrong, because Daniel coped well with everything. Only, he was a bit shocked. His father was shocked too.
"Do you prefer that Mr. Suherman discuss how we get married?" ask Daniel.
Valeda's face turned red. "That's not what I mean, Dan!" valeda Protest.
Daniel patted Valeda on the head with a big smile. "You're funny when you're panicking. Come on, let's go home first!"
Valeda walked beside Daniel to the outside of the house. During the trip to the car, Valeda again lost the subject. He just kept quiet and looked at Daniel silently.
The gust of night wind brushed Daniel's hair, making him a little messy.
"Time passes quickly, yes?" said Daniel.
"Why did you become like a grandfather who wants to give a lecture to his grandson who wants to marry?" valeda Goda.
"What, anyway? Not very connected!" Daniel chuckles. Daniel opens the car door for Valeda upon their arrival where Valeda's sedan is parked.
"Where is Kris?" ask Valeda while getting in the car.
Daniel, who was asked that question when he was alone with Valeda Daritadi, circulated his gaze in all directions. Daniel did not see Kris around the car or in the gazebo where the drivers were gathered.
"We'll just wait a minute in the car" Daniel replied. He came in the back seat. The wind that night was not so strong, but it could make them get the flu.
"Hey, Daniel," call Valeda to Daniel who looks out the window.
"Hm?" ask Daniel without looking.
"You've been dating, haven't you? Tell me what it's like!"
Daniel turned his head, instead looking at Valeda with a face full of questions. "Are you sure you want to hear? Will you not be jealous?"
"Haha!" Valeda laughed crisply. "Tell me, then see if I'm jealous or bored."
Daniel leaned against the car seat while crossing his arms in front of his chest. "When I still think of nothing but myself, I like a woman. He was my classmate in the eleventh grade."
"His name?" cut Valeda.
"Diamond."
"Wow! What a unique name!"
Daniel nodded in agreement. "She is beautiful like a diamond. In fact, prettier than you."
"Oh, huh?" Valeda doesn't believe that. "Have photos? I want to see."
"You know for yourself that I don't play social media" Daniel replied. "A diamond is a beautiful woman. She was an idol at my school. Boys chasing him-"
"Includes you" interrupted Valeda.
Daniel shrugged his shoulders. "I don't really remember how I fell in love with her. I just remember all the kids chasing him, so I did the same thing." Daniel scratches his chin, trying to remember his high school days. "He's the son of a top official in the government."
"Gee... Beautiful, rich, and kind. It's perfect!"
Daniel shook his head when he heard Valeda's comment. "He's not kind. Just as a woman is aware that she is beautiful and rich, she takes advantage of circumstances."
"Smart lady," praised Valeda as he nodded.
"Diamonds love to take advantage of the men who approach them. I also knew I was being used. But, I like it. Being next to a beautiful diamond is a pride for me. I don't know since when, I've gotten used to her nature."
"Have you guys been dating long enough?" ask Valeda.
"It was only until my father went bankrupt and my life changed drastically. Women like Diamonds will not want to be with men who, even to eat, have to work in three different places" Daniel replied. "He just left immediately."
"Do you love her?"
Daniel did not answer Valeda's question. He himself was not so sure of what he felt for the Diamond at that time. "I don't know. I've long forgotten it."
"Have you really forgotten?" Valeda.
"If I said I still have some memories that I can't forget, why?"
