I quickly got out of the school gate because I had to meet the shopkeeper at the agreed time. I have to be at my place of work before 05:00 because there will be a lot of things to explain to me before I actually start my new job.
It took me half an hour to get to the bookstore. I decided to go to the minimarket first, buy lemon water, pay for it, and immediately rush to the bookstore. I got to and still stood outside peering into the building that part of the wall using glass. Inside it looked dark, probably because it was filled only by her books and friends. Maybe also because the store owner has not had time to move the boxes that are still mounted in front of the glass and make the light that should be able to shine until the inside becomes closed. The counter area was empty and no one was standing guard.
I opened the door and the sound of bells attached above the door began to reverberate throughout the room. The old lady of the shop owner did not appear immediately and I decided to call again in a louder voice. Successfully, the woman appeared with a slow step from behind the door.
"Hello darling. Sorry if Oma didn't listen. I don't use a hearing aid." He explained as he put on a friendly smile and I immediately replied with a smile, "so you're still interested in the cooperation?" tanyakanya.
"Yes," I replied a little louder so I wouldn't have to repeat my sentence. The old woman again smiled wider to show her false teeth while smiling happily.
"good. Means Oma does not need to wash Oma anymore to help keep it here. Name Oma, Goddess. You can call Oma Dewi. By the way, whose name are you? I think Oma forgot to ask yesterday, what exactly did Oma ask but forgot?"
"Oma hasn't asked. My name is Aretta, Oma."
"Yes Aretta. If so Oma take a tour first yes while explaining anything you have to do here."
Oma Dewi asked me to follow her. He took me through several bookshelves that had been labeled with various genres. There are also textbooks and introductory books to study. In the other corner are the translation books. Some of J. K.'s famous works
Rowling and Dan Brown are also there. There are also sections for written books, pens, pencils, and stationary related books.
Oma Dewi explained to me about how I should sort books and call the publisher for book booking. He then led me inside the door he had used before. There is a writing 'staff only' which indicates if this place can not be entered by just anyone.
"This is a special staff room that is usually only used by Oma and Oma's grandchildren. But it's only increasing because there's you. So, if you see anyone other than the three of us, you can immediately report to the security guard up ahead."
I'm nagging. The explanation of Oma Dewi was interrupted when the sound of a bell rang indicating the presence of visitors who came. I told Oma Dewi about this, we went out together and found a mother who brought her two children. Oma Dewi hinted at me to follow her into the counter.
"Oma wants to see firsthand how you deal with customers" he said, pushing me into the counter and standing right in front of the cashier's desk.
"Yes mbak. Want to ask for help with a children's storybook. My son is already getting bigger so it needs a slightly thicker storybook and if there can be a lot of hidden messages in it too. So can you show me where it is?"
"Good mom. Come with me" I replied as I stepped out of the counter and asked the mother to follow me. I took him to the special books section of children who have more colorful space.
"For children's books everything is here Mother. If you want a recommendation you can choose from the storybook that is here to the shelf number two." I let the mother and the child choose for themselves because I honestly didn't know enough about the children's stories. After the mother picked out some books, I helped bring her back to the counter. Oma Dewi was still waiting for me there and showed me how to use the cash register. It was an easy task I remember.
The mother came out of the store after paying all the purchase fees and Oma Dewi asked me to contact some publishers for book reservations. I can order through the website, but because Oma has been a long-time customer, the publisher makes it easy for her to contact the headquarters directly.
"Oma likes the way you work" he said when I finished ordering and closed the call, "now Oma will clear your working hours. For weekends you can start working from you home from school until 07.00 pm. Continue to work for your weekend from 09.00 am to 07.00 pm. You know that the weekend is always crowded and later Oma's grandson will also come to help," he explained.
I nodded in understanding. I'm happy to be able to work those hours because during the move here I never did anything during the weekend and work was the right choice.
"Okay Oma" I said.
Oma Dewi nodded then left me alone to re-start my first job in this place. I've changed my shirt with a regular shirt. And before I left, Oma Dewi said that I could read any book here.
I glanced at the shelf behind me. Surprised while scanning all the books. The section here is a sample or refund book whose quality is not good. Oma Dewi said she did deliberately provide a place for this book because if anyone wants to read but does not have the money to buy they can rent at a price of 5000 per book. The risk of borrowing a book is prone to not be returned, but Oma Dewi does not mind it because he thinks as long as everyone can read it makes him happy.
I picked up one of the novels and started reading it. Just 2 pages and there are more buyers coming. I didn't expect this bookstore to be getting crowded in the afternoon. Today, many have come to rent or buy several stationeries and books. My Soreku on the first day of work was quite busy and I loved this activity. I let out a sigh of relief as the sun began to return to its quarrel. The sky started to darken and Oma Dewi had also returned to the store with her sweet smile.
"Good work Aretta. You can go home now" he said.
I nodded quickly and immediately cleaned up my belongings, "Aretta will come on time tomorrow Oma. Good bye."
"She be careful on the road. Goodbye too" he replied as I began to disappear behind the door.
