Somehow I felt displeased when he said that he only regarded me as his disciple. I shouldn't have thought that way, because after all, he's still my teacher. I averted my eyes so that Mr. Aidan would not see a tinge of disappointment from my eyes. My gaze was only on the thread on the sofa that was starting to break.
Suddenly Mr. Aidan cleared his throat and made me look at him. He pointed towards the plate in front of me that served a few packs of used market snacks.
"It's nice to see you have breakfast. Don't forget breakfast is the main thing" he said.
I tilted my head in wonder. It wasn't mine because I never ordered anything extra for my morning menu. It seems to belong to the person who sat before me. I should have said it if it was my opening, but somehow I just smiled and nodded.
Come to think of it as nothing to admit if it was mine because Mr. Aidan would have asked me how I ate today. Remember he's a counselor and he's on duty to make sure I don't fall down like before.
"Ah yes sir," I replied slowly to cover my confused face. Mr. Aidan smiled. This time it seemed sincere and relieved to know that I had filled my stomach.
I paused for a moment and thought about asking something. I haven't had my mind decided yet, my lips have taken over first, "Where's my father finished?" ask me in the end.
"Aidan, Arettaa," he recalled.
I nodded and repeated my question as he commanded. It feels strange to say his name without frills. Such a deliberately created distance suddenly disappeared in an instant. It's just a phrase.
"Not from anywhere. I'm here from now on" he said, raising one of his eyebrows. He seemed to be clueless about the direction of my conversation.
"So I saw you here. But I think you left when I ordered a drink. And now you're here again, so where are you really?" I said while explaining the meaning of my question.
He nodded his head understandingly when I finished explaining, but did not immediately reply. His facial expression seemed to indicate if he was still thinking whether he should say this as well or not.
"I have a bookstore around here. He needs help lifting the cardboard, I was there to help. Because he was old, he found it hard to do anything by himself. I advised Oma to find a new employee so I can help her," he explained. It seemed like the sentence he said when he wanted to get close to me was no joke. The proof without thinking he immediately told me what he had done clearly without me being forced.
"Near here is just Glory Books, don't tell me the store. I'm a new employee there and I'm starting work today." I didn't ask, just made sure. What kind of coincidence is this. I was a little surprised that I was working in my teacher's grandmother's bookstore.
"Oh so you're the young girl called Oma. He said you were very enthusiastic and positive Vives, so Oma immediately accepted without an interview."
I chuckled at the story from Mr. Aidan. I didn't expect if my presence was as sticky as it was in her grandmother's mind.
"You're beautiful when you smile again. Often his smile let not be counted judes." Mr. Aidan said it was slow. I don't know how to respond. This limit should not be broken any further.
"20 minutes later, class will begin. I suggested that you leave now," he said, and it resuscitated me.
He immediately stood up and he thrust his hand at me, as usual my body reacted first. I accepted his hand and placed my hand on his palm. It feels warm and the grip is snug. He is indeed a grown man, proof that his hands are not wet like a teenager's hands when first holding. He pulled me and helped me to stand up straight.
He and I would rush out until the maids came closer to our table. I frowned a little while looking at him. I've seen this woman before, at school and it looks like she works here in the morning. He glanced at Mr. Aidan and the man also immediately turned to look at me as he returned his gaze.
"I'm sorry in advance because I missed cleaning this plate," he said, bowing politely many times.
My eyes wide. I gripped the woman in my heart. If he's acting like that, surely Mr. Aidan will know if this plate isn't mine. I hope that man doesn't hear anything because of this woman's small voice. I turned around to make sure and immediately grimaced as Mr. Aidan looked at me with a rough sigh. My guess is he must have heard what the waiter said.
I don't know why Mr. Aidan's view is disturbing. He looked at me with a disappointed look and then immediately left.
Butwhy?
The waiter was still standing in front of us. He raised his head due to the uncomfortable atmosphere. Not just for him, for me it happens.
"Have I misspoken?" ask him while gripping his fingers. The woman tagged Hana looked at me with an apologetic look.
"No. He just has to go to school" I said. I helped her not to feel guilty because the real guilt came from me. I do condemn my stupidity. Besides who would have thought if that guy would find out if I lied this fast.
"I apologize once again" he said before rushing the dirty dishes back to the back.
I'm gonna go leave the cafe. Now that he knew if I lied, would he also take revenge because I had dared to lie? Everyone I've ever lied to is always avenging them.
I remember lying to one of my little friends. He had a nice pencil, because I was jealous I picked it up and wrote my name using that pencil on paper. Just a few minutes later, the owner of the pencil came and he asked about the pencil. I said if this was mine, she couldn't believe it because she didn't find her pencil in her pencil case. After school I was stopped. He and his friend dragged me into the bathroom. The closet at my school has a seating toilet system. He put my face in it. All his friends who were there laughed and mocked me fat, slovenly Aluna who liked to lie. Fortunately, they did not label me as a thief.
That's one example, there are others. And because every time I lie always gets an unpleasant ending, since then I stop to lie. Because if I get caught, I will get angry especially if I dare to lie to Mama. A punch and a slap would definitely adorn my body.
