When the sky was dark, the three men who were both sons of the Duke of Lumiere entered the castle gate valiantly. The horse they ride looks healthy and shiny so that it adds to the charisma of its master sitting on top. After the main gate was opened, there was a garden that split the road into two circular shaped which in the middle was built a fountain as high as five meters.
The one who first came down and handed his horse harness to the stewards of the stables was Ethan, the only —-black girly man that his mother, Britney—, had left among the three. He frowned, then again fumbled at the back of his horse with a puzzled expression.
Feeling that something was wrong with her brother, Declan the second child who had just stepped off the horse came over. The man with the neatly shaved blond hair said, "What's up, Ethan?"
"I put a money bag around here. Strangely it's gone." Ethan is still trying to find the thing he means even though it is clear, the money bag has disappeared. "Or did I forget where to put it?"
Beckett, the youngest with shoulder-length blond hair, follows her two brothers who are pacing around Ethan's horse. Watching that, his forehead formed a faint frown. Then he got off the horse and decided to observe the two in silence.
"none. Looks like it's gone" Declan chirped in, but his eyes were still moving to and fro, still trying to find the thing Ethan meant.
"Ah, yes, that's it. It's a little." Anyway." Ethan shook his head, trying to forget the money bag. "Come, we go inside."
The three of them entered the castle. When the main door was opened, the servants had already greeted them with their heads bowed, neatly lined up from the door leaf forming a straight line formation all the way to the front of the stairs. Declan as the heir took the first step followed by Ethan and Beckett. Although in terms of age Ethan is older, but in terms of basic position Declan is the more important because it was born by the legal wife of the Duke of Lumiere at that time. While Ethan was born in the state of his mother who is still a mistress.
"What exactly is Ethan looking for?" Beckett finally opened his voice as they reached the second floor. He looked at his two brothers confused, "Maybe I can help."
"That thing's gone, Beckett. Never mind, just a few pieces of gold," said Ethan who felt no need to extend a small problem.
"Oh, just money?" Beckett chuckled, "Until we've searched so hard for so little money we used to spend in one go out there? Ethan, please don't act like a poor man."
"Not the poor are in question here." Ethan restores his black hair and sits on a milk-white sofa set in a warm room. Declan and Beckett are sitting next to him. "But the missing bag .. actually belongs to Declan."
Feeling his name being mentioned, Declan reflexively straightened his back then looked at Ethan once more. "What's? Please say it clearly."
"So morning when I pulled the tax, I forgot to bring a bag or something. It just so happens that there's a sizable bag I found in your horse's backpack, Declan. So I'm going to borrow it" replied Ethan, although he was a little hesitant at first. But he knows very well Declan is not a stingy person let alone likes to find problems with small things. "Don't worry, whatever the price of the money bag will be changed. Don't be afraid."
Declan clenched his hand. Beckett and Ethan clearly saw that, making the two look at each other. As Ethan turned his head towards Beckett, the man replied to him with a faint slit.
"Next time don't ever take things out of my backpack."
Declan looked up, his eyes turning red as a result of restraining emotions. "Do you know where I got that bag?"
Ethan and Beckett both shook their heads. Watching Declan get angry is enough to make them feel insecure. Because of the three of them, Declan was the one who had the worst temperament.
Big without complete parents and living with people's banter over his father and mother's fractured relationship makes Declan grow up to be a cold-hearted man. And today, if not a direct order from the Duke of Lumiere, Ethan suspects Declan will carry out the task together with himself and Beckett. Declan was really a closed person.
"The bag was my mother's last gift the night before she actually left here. And Ethan has lost it. Thank you, you're a big deal, brother. To the extent that I don't have any more relics from the former duchess."
That's irony. Ethan's lips were tightly clenched. As tough men, it feels heavy to say 'sorry' even though their status is a fellow brother. Without waiting for Ethan's self-defense, Declan leaves. Walk towards the door and then close it back with a little emotion so that there is a loud impact sound produced by the door.
"You're making trouble with him" Beckett's comment, which didn't help to improve the mood of his sibling, who was now leaning on his head, resigned.
Ethan clucked, looking at Beckett exasperatedly, "It was also his own fault. Already know valuable objects, why even taken everywhere?"
"Yes, it was stolen—" Ethan instantly fell silent after realizing it. Right, Ethan clearly remembered that if he tethered the pouch firmly, it was impossible to just fall. Most likely if Declan's favorite object was really stolen.
"Where do you know?!"
"I saw the face of the thief" Beckett said casually. The man recalled Eve's face. Women who in this day they have met twice and at the end of their meeting must have caused harm on their side. Beckett admits, that woman was a real thief. "If you knew who the thief was, it would be very upset."
"really? Who's that?" Ethan's curious.
"I'm sorry to Declan first, I just mentioned who it was," Beckett replied with an amused grin. He knew Ethan would never apologize to anyone on this earth.
"I'm not wrong. The thief took it, not me!"
"Your ego is too big to admit wrong," Beckett said again upset Ethan and got up from his seat. "Hey, where are you going?"
"Why don't you see your face" Ethan snuggled and grabbed the doorknob. Before he manages to pull it, it is pushed from the outside causing Ethan to take several steps back.
"It just so happens you're here." Zachary Lumiero standing in the doorway. His hands were folded in front of his chest while watching his two sons. "Where's Declan?"
"Somewhere," Beckett replied curiously. "What's up, Your Grace?"
"There are some things I need to tell you." Zachary came in, took a seat directly across from Beckett. With a sigh, Ethan was forced to return to his seat. "I'm going to Serenious for a few days, so the responsibility of the castle is left to you, especially to Declan."
Ethan frowned, "Didn't you usually go too? Then why are you saying goodbye to us this time?"
"Someone is coming" Zachary replied softly, "She. Declan's biological sister. She had been taken by the former duchess to her mansion after we separated. Well, we have to accept it staying here."
"Female sister?" beo Beckett won't. "No-no, I don't like it. Just refuse his arrival, if necessary close all access to the castle Lumiere so that he suffers out there and choose to go home!"
"This is the request of His Majesty the King, Beckett." Zachary looked at his son wrong. Yes, he also wants the same thing as his youngest son, but what can be done ....
Ethan let out a weary sigh, "Just like Beckett, I actually rejected the arrival of your other child, Your Grace, too." Ethan cleared his throat, clearing his suddenly-drying throat. "What if she just claimed to be your daughter? We need to be vigilant, Lumiere's enemies are scattered like stars out there. You never talked about your daughter to us, Your Grace."
"I don't like it" replied Zachary short. "If she was from the same mother as you, I might consider some of my property for her. Honey, she was born to Margaret as well as a woman. It's no use."
"Party man," Beckett sneered boldly. Although she came from Britney's womb, it felt like there was a lot of pity that she often addressed to Margaret's children, especially Declan. Declan himself, his existence in the Lumiere castle can be said only as the legitimate heir only. Britney came from a brothel, once a war loot that Zachary later discovered. With such a position, it was impossible for his sons to gain the support of other nobles as heirs to the Duke of Lumiere.
Margaret was only used as Lumiere's successor? Beckett thinks so.
Feeling no need to respond any further, Zachary stood up again. "Yep, that's all I want to tell you. Since he'll come when I'm not here, I hope you can welcome him. No fancy welcome, just keep an eye on every treatment until I get back."
