After a long debate, now the three people are busy in their minds. Hudson rubbed his chin while thinking of a way for his chess piece to defeat Eve's king piece that was still standing far across. Eve was also no less serious even a small squeak on her forehead was clearly visible. And Ashley, the only person who could not play chess among them could only sigh boredly as she opened the small fan, then fanned it to the face.
"A little more I won," Hudson said proudly as he carried the piece of the fort forward. Towards the enemy king. "Games are not fun without bets. If I win, what will you do, Eve?"
Eve let the king's pawn slide forward even closer to the main piece. "Ec ... You can ask me anything" Eve replied and then she regained consciousness. "Ah, shouldn't I offer the duke a little treasure to you who owns the entire Sasanian mainland."
"Hoho, you're good at talking. But let me tell you the truth. It is true that I controlled the treasures of the land of Sasania. But your father was able to command treasures all over the world thanks to his own hard work." Hudson's comments still focused on his fortress. "Then I do the same to you. You're free to ask me for anything. Well, even if you're impossible to win," he concluded with a dismissive tone.
Is that the Duke of Lumiere? Thinking of the king's words, Eve knew very well that the number one in Sasania was not lying to her. If the duke had a lot of treasures, then his subordinates would also not be few. If Eve becomes king, this kind of Duke of Lumiere is her main enemy. Of course, with that much treasure does not rule out the possibility that one day the duke will defect and send assassins or —the worst thing again— rebellion.
But the king was different from Eve. He never felt the Duke of Lumiere was a threat to him.
"If you win, just squeeze the treasure of this man, Eve," Ashley said as she glanced at her husband in a familiar and threatening tone.
"Squeeze off. How much money you want, my treasure will never run out" Hudson said arrogantly.
"Have you never heard a story about someone who was drowned in the ground because of his arrogance?" said Ashley fiercely with eyes pinched, "you want to be made like that?!"
"Ck, that's so chatty" Hudson complained as he pretended to cover his ringing earlobes. "Well, I've been walking. It's your turn, Lady."
Short daydreams are spoiled. Eve looked back at the chessboard that lay in front of her. One more step, His Majesty the King will win. It's not far from Eve's king's pawn. If the king's pawn is defeated, the game is over.
"You are too ambitious to get rid of my king, Your Majesty." Eve moved the horse-headed piece that Hudson had unknowingly infiltrated her area from out of nowhere. Unfortunately, the location of the horse pawn is in the most strategic place. Sure enough, in one go, Eve managed to get rid of the king piece belonging to Hudson that the old man replied with bulging eyes.
"I won."
"Ap-What? How can?!" said flabbergasted. "This is just the beginning. The game earlier, I just gave up on you. Now come on, let's go!"
"Let's lose!" spray Ashley who is also nicknamed Eve.
"I rarely play chess, so it's a little stiff" he said.
"Your Majesty, I see you're having a lot of fun here, huh?"
Hudson's body froze. With a slow movement, he turned his head towards the door then gave a wide forced smile.
"Lucas, let your father sit here for a moment. Don't you see how many wrinkles are on my face?" Hudson pointed to his own face. "This is due to my activities that full day struggling with government problems without thinking about time to play for a while. There's you anyway, right. You always help me without being told to."
Eve's heart suddenly shook. The blue bead widened when it recognized the figure called the king was Lucas was now getting closer to walking towards them. His eyes were not wrong, nor were his memories. That guy Xerr!
"Your Majesty, come back. The ministers are already preparing in the hall." Lucas emphasized his sentence still with a polite tone of speech. Even so his palm landed on the king's shoulder, as if giving a warning. With a forced smile, Hudson finally raised his hand.
"Well, our game for today looks like it should end here, Lady." Hudson smiled badly. "Meet me when you know what you want, just like our bet just now."
The king glanced at his son. "Ah, yes. It just so happens that Lucas is here. Lady Luvena, let's introduce that she's my son, Prince Lucas. And Lucas, she's the Duke of Lumiere's legitimate daughter, Luvena Lumiera," she said kindly, "a few days ago the Lumiere family came here, but you left so you didn't get to know her."
Or maybe Lucas and Xerr are twins?
Lucas welcomes Eve's palm and kisses her. "It's good to meet you, Lady."
"An honor can meet you, Your Highness," said Eve doubtfully. Feels awkward. A few days ago he was a tight-lipped guy with the exact same look as Prince Lucas. No, Eve was sure they were the same person.
Why did Xerr— mean Lucas was being dishonest about his identity to Eve? This guy really ....
"I'm waiting for you in front of the hall. I beg. Soon," Lucas stressed. His father this ... if not reminded carefully, he quickly forget. The young man looked down a little. "I'm sorry. Please enjoy your time."
"Prince Lucas was indeed that cold with the people around him. Please understand," Hudson said after the son who often helped him control himself left. He got up, hugged Ashley by the waist and kissed her forehead.
"Be careful. Now you can tour the palace to spend some time together. But remember, don't let one of you get hurt, okay?"
Ashley developed a smile then nodded in spirit. "of course. I'm not that stupid to hurt myself!"
"Did I hear wrong?" Hudson squinted and ruffled Ashley's hair. "Two days ago there was someone who had fallen in the western pavilion for running when she knew very well that she was wearing a big dress. About who is that guy?"
"Ah, Your Grace. Don't mention it!" Ashley punched her husband's chest shyly.
Eve grimaced. He just found out, as hell as it feels to be a mosquito. "Em, there seems to be something I have to do. You guys just go ahead, excuse me."
Eve hurriedly got out of there. As soon as he closed the door, he heaved a sigh of relief. It feels very awkward to be among a couple who are. If it's Queen Ashley, Eve can understand. But if King Hudson is older than the Duke of Lumiere, Eve herself is not out of her mind.
"Lady Luvena."
Eve looked. Not far away, right next to the most massive pillar in the palace, Lucas stood with his flat face.
"Come with me for a minute, shall you?"
"I should have said that," Eve grieved. "You have to explain everything to me— Xerr—eh, Lucas, wait a minute!" Seeing Lucas move away, Eve finally chases him from behind.
The man ... This time he couldn't escape!
