"We're home."
Hearing the Duke of Lumiere's orders, Baron O'Neil who was originally sitting quietly nodded and followed his master's footsteps from behind. Two bodyguards were in front of them to show the way, even though the duke himself had often set foot in the palace which he had automatically memorized with the intricacies of the palace hallway. But it was all done in the name of formality.
From the opposite direction, a soldier known to be from Lumiere castle seemed to be running fast. After arriving in front of the duke's entourage, he lowered his head deeply. The warrior is a trusted warrior of the Duke of Lumiere whose identity is deliberately kept secret from the others. Usually it was he who would deliver the important news if Zachary was leaving the castle.
"What's this?"
"Report, Your Grace. Something happened in the castle."
"Say it clearly."
"Some time ago Lady Luvena's servant said that Her Ladyship was not in her room."
"Maybe he's with his other siblings, don't panic so much." Zachary wanted to get past the soldier, but his next words succeeded in getting Zachary on board.
"Sorry, but according to reports, all the lords did allow Her Ladyship to leave, but whether along with whom, it was not yet known. It's clearly not alone."
Zachary. "Allows leaving? Even Declan also allowed it even though he knew very well the plan I was making?" he said he didn't believe. Zachary thinks he knows his son that well. Declan would never act if his actions did not benefit Sasania.
Or did Zachary misjudge it?
"You go. And Baron O'Neil, order the troops to spread rapidly around Lumiere. He shouldn't have gone far, at least find him before afternoon or you all get punished!"
"Okay, Your Grace!" answer them in unison.
"Normally Declan is reliable, but this time what happened." Zachary incised his pulsating temple. The man again stepped out onto his waiting carriage on the last step of the stairs. With a fucked up mind.
After all this was done, Zachary promised to reward the four of them for being involved in such a big problem. The problem they were doing was not Lumiere's internal matter anymore, but rather the problem related to Sasania's own gains.
Special Eve. The troublemaker who never wanted to comply with Zachary's wishes would be punished twice or even more than the others.
That is the consequence if you dare to fight.
...----------------...
Hudson was busy with his routine. The sun was getting higher so he decided to forget about the parchments for a moment, stepping out to breathe fresh air. Together with several bodyguards, the goal this time is the western garden, the queen's favorite park because there stands a beautiful pavilion surrounded by flowers by the work of the previous queen and the mother of the crown prince, he said, Queen Sophia.
And sure enough, his guess. From afar, Hudson had already recognized the beautiful curled body silhouette. Ashley seemed to be sitting on her back, looking busy arranging the flower stems arranged in a large bouquet with two loyal servants.
"It seems Her Majesty the Queen is busy."
Ashley hurriedly turned around. As soon as she saw the figure of her husband approaching, her smile was no less beautiful than the flowers she was holding. The young lady stood up and saluted him respectfully.
"It was unexpected that His Majesty the King would come here. If you know that, I will make a bouquet of more flowers," said Ashley happy.
"So that bouquet wasn't for me?" Hudson frowned as Ashley replied with a nod of her head. "For whom?"
Ashley tries to remember the last time she met Lumiere's little girl. Ah, it's been a long time. Moreover, at that time Eve was monopolized by the King to accompany him to play chess, almost all day. After recalling that, Ashley felt annoyed again.
Eve was his friend, not His Majesty's!
"After this I want to go to Lumiere Castle, is it okay?" he continued expectantly.
"Lady Luvena can't keep you company for a while." Hudson cleared his throat, turning his gaze away from his wife. "Later tonight is her wedding."
"Married?!" Ashley was surprised not to play. His eyes followed Hudson everywhere until the middle-aged man decided to sit on a bench near the fountain. Ashley hurriedly approached him.
"What does this mean, why is it so rushed? Was that really a request from Eve herself?"
That row of questions made Hudson sigh.
"That's my order to the Duke of Lumiere to get them married as soon as possible. In any way, they should get married."
"But why?" Ashley looks unsatisfied.
"For my son Lucas to stop loving that girl."
"Love?" Ashley gnashing. Honestly, all her life, she never knew what love was.
Ashley never understood Lucas' position. He was never in a position to love someone until he was willing to fight. All he knows is that his life has turned into the queen of a man who is more worthy of being a father than a husband.
"Maybe telling you something can make my heart a little more relieved." Hudson smiled faintly. After that he told how his bet with Lucas began. The kingdom is a guarantee. Hudson knows he's crazy, but it's too late to call off the bet. All he can do is try his best to get Lucas to stop his attack on Brodsway.
"If Eve becomes part of Brodsway, I'm sure Lucas will relinquish and will let Brodsway stand for his loved ones. Therefore I want Eve to marry the Brodsway prince as soon as possible" explained Hudson a little worried. It is clear from his view that sometimes feels empty, but still trying to stay strong.
"You shouldn't be this exaggerated" Ashley advised, touching her husband's shoulder. "The crown prince now has no allies behind him. How could he cut Brodsway out on his own?"
"A little bit more I'm starting to get to know the boy. If he's willing, it means he's really capable." His gaze turned worried again. "Especially from the beginning, the bet came from his idea. I felt something really big standing behind him and just waiting for time, he could erase everything. I don't know what it is, I don't know myself. But for sure Lucas would've conquered Brodsway if I had just kept watching."
Ashley silently listened. Inwardly, he could not deny the prowess of his stepson.
"Lucas don't get that bad, Ashley. If asked to choose between the Duke of Lumiere and the crown prince, I would say without a doubt that the crown prince is more dangerous. The man grew himself into a calm person. Like ocean. It is not known how deep his power is. And it really scared me."
For the first time, Hudson dared to tell his greatest fear to others. Not the king of other countries or the rebels who are more and more lately, but his own son.
"I know myself too. If in the end he succeeds in becoming king, he will certainly be much better than me. I know very well."
More like a monologue, but here's what Hudson likes about Ashley. He is a good listener.
"Unfortunately I cannot give up the throne for free to him. Ashley .. I still want to be king."
