Eve's Last Step

"Lumiero's Lord is inside?"

The soldier standing in front of the door gasped in shock. Not usually Eve who often barged in suddenly wanted to ask them first.

They give gestures of respect. One of them replied, "His Lordship is not here, My Lady. Since an hour ago the duke summoned His Lordship to the library."

"Oh, so." Eve nodded in understanding. "Are they going to be long?"

Unfinished the soldier said, Eve quickly turned around and left with wide steps impressed to run. If her manners teacher knew, maybe Eve would get in big trouble. Fortunately today her schedule learned to embroider, so Eve did not have to bother to be graceful.

"Declan and His Grace are together. This golden opportunity cannot be missed!" exclaim Eve happy. Like shooting two birds in one arrow, he could take Declan and ask the Duke of Lumiere for permission for their impromptu journey. But Eve did not expect more given Zachary's difficult-to-negotiate nature.

The Lumiere Library is located on the second floor of the castle. A four-meter-high old wooden door bordered between the hallway and the space with the distinctive aroma of the book. Eve turned to a round table next to the window with two chairs occupied by Declan and Zachary, respectively. On the table, there was an old book with yellowish paper and two cups of coffee that were still billowing accompanied them.

Eve approached both. Feeling strange about the question that Zachary had previously thrown. "You guys. I'm looking for you."

"Eve, can you just let me work quietly for a day? This time, what else did you do to come here? Though I'm sure the soldier in front of my workspace told you. I'm working with the duke. Can't you wait a minute?" declan bursts who is upset because lately Eve has always stuck with her. Earlier this morning she did not hear Eve's usual screaming voice at her bedroom door. Act like an alarm. Declan had already taken a sigh of relief. Maybe he won't be disturbed. Unfortunately Declan is wrong, Eve seems to intend to make it difficult.

Eve smothers her mouth. "Declan, I didn't expect...."

Declan. In a split second, his anger evaporated instantly. He shouldn't have scolded Eve, let alone that her sister was a girl. She was the back for Eve. Other than their maniacal father, to whom else could Eve pour out her heart?

"Eve I don't intend to talk—"

"Only?"

"No, I'm with Declan."

"What harm? You're my mother's son too" Eve said in self-defense.

"Say, Luvena." Zachary propped his head up on the table using both hands. "What do you think is my reason for letting you go back there?"

"No need for your excuses, Your Grace. Like it or not, I'll go anyway" Eve said.

Zachary raised his eyebrows. "Dare to fight?"

Given the condition that Margaret could stay in the castle again was to be kind, Eve slowly changed her expression. Forced. He smiled broadly, almost horribly. "No, Your Grace. Sure didn't. I mean .. Like it or not, I will try to get you to join our group. Must be so much fun. Don't you, Declan?"

Leaving those of you who may be happy for my departure. Yeah, that's deserved. From the beginning I was troublesome and disturbing, right."

Both Declan and Zachary looked at each other without a sound. Come to think of it, they were quite sorry for Eve's next fate. Brodsway is not a country that upholds women but does not mean they treat women as they please. It's just that the regional leadership is not allowed to be occupied by a woman. Unlike Sasanians who equalize the position of both men and women as long as there is a lineage.

"We're leaving." Zachary sighed, inversely proportional to Eve who was smiling brightly. His password succeeded without persuading any further. Declan just nodded slowly, lazy to argue let alone issue an opinion — which he thinks— is not important

For this episode I often delete some parts because it feels less suitable. It depends on the mood, though. And lately my mood has been pretty big.

Ok, I hope you guys can understand. Btw, three people consisting of the same father of two children will nyamperin Margaret. If you were Margaret, what would you do when you saw Zachary's face suddenly appear in front of the house?
