The bells placed above the door of the florist chime softly as someone pushes the door to enter. Madam Fiona, a widowed shopkeeper at the age of thirty-two, turned her head quickly to the origin of the voice. His smile grew as he knew who was standing in the doorway. The shovel and the flowers he would plant were instantly left behind. Taking off her gloves, Madam Fiona walked over to the customer.
"Xerr, long time no here. How are you?" ask the woman enthusiastically. For him, Xerr himself is like a son even though their age is not far adrift.
Xerr, the young man with a mane as thick as charcoal was smiling widely. Scratching her head that wasn't itchy at all, she finally confessed. "These few weeks have happened so many things that I didn't have time to stop by. But madam take it easy, I'm always healthy!"
"So what? You always keep a lot of things secret to me!" Madam Fiona is eager to hit Xerr if the man who has a height away from her is not evasive. Madam Fiona quipped, "didn't you think of me like your own mother?!"
"B-don't you, madam!" Trying to dodge, Xerr unintentionally looked behind the woman. Within a few seconds his gaze was locked onto the pair of blue beads that were coming back to look at him. They made eye contact, but quickly the jewel-like blue-eyed girl threw away her face.
"Because of you!" Madam Fiona finally managed to land her punch on Xerr's back, while the one who was hit was silent as if nothing had ever happened. "Hey, what are you looking at!"
"Who is he, madam?" Xerr looked back at Madam Fiona. "Your new customers? I've never seen him come here."
Madam Fiona chuckled, "You are, you always pay attention to every customer, especially female customers. It's not wrong, you have to get married quickly." The woman finally decided to resign. Returning to his routine regardless of Xerr like the beginning. "Sarah, Devina, Erlia, Cala, Demore, British, Roxie, Gabriella? They're all pretty, like you, and are pretty rich. So, what's lacking." he shook his head dizzy. "I don't understand your way of thinking."
"Don't talk about it again, madam. You still have guests." Xerr pointed at Eve who was sitting behind him with a thumbs up. "Oh, yes. Just as always please prepare a bouquet of white carnations for me, don't forget to wrap it with a box."
After the man walked away, Madam Fiona fell silent and muttered, "You always miss your late mother, Xerr."
Decades passed and Xerr was still mourning his mother's death. As Madam Fiona knows, Xerr's mother lost her life while battling an illness. That's it already. Xerr did not clearly tell. But one thing is certain, to this day Xerr is still grieving and usually he will order a bouquet of white carnations to be placed on the navel of the mother.
Xerr knew, he wouldn't know if he didn't find out. With a friendly expression, he walked over to Eve who was seen sitting alone on a waiting sofa. The girl seemed distracted especially after Xerr managed to land her butt right next to Eve.
Eve breathed a rough sigh. "There's still another empty place, sir," he growled as he glanced at the empty sofa beside Xerr.
"I can't sit there," Xerr replied casually. "It's like there's an invisible magnet inside you so I can't make myself go far."
Eve glanced at the cynics then shifted slowly. What the fuck is that cheap seduction?!
"What's your name, Miss." Xerr moved along until they were crammed back. "Are you from a merchant family, a wealthy family, or even a noble family? Woah, if you really come from a noble family, then I would really be surprised."
Furthermore, instead of dodging like before, Eve actually stared back with a sharp grin on her face. Now that the distance between the two was very close, even Xerr could smell the orange scent of the girl beside him.
In his heart, Xerr was satisfied. I am excited about her adorable new toy. Without waiting for long, he immediately approached Eve who had already walked out of the flower shop with a bouquet of flowers in her hand. Xerr did not lose. He also immediately took a box of her bouquet of flowers and followed the girl, forgetting Madam Fiona who yelled at her from behind a glass wall.
"Don't think badly of me. I'm a good man" said Xerr, still scooping although Eve did not look at him at all. "Still not believing? To make sure, what if we knew each other. I hear the candle festival is about to be held."
"Wax festival's still two months away, don't make it up!" Eve could not bear to not comment. "What does the candle festival have to do with my thinking that you're not a good man?"
Xerr smiled broadly and hugged Eve's neck like a close friend. Eve desperately tried to get rid of the man's muscular arm, but she could not. "We can take a walk together, enjoy the event until late at night or maybe until the morning. That way you can get to know me better, right."
"Just do it in your dreams!" Not out of her mind, Eve finally bit Xerr's arm so hard that she screamed pain and the man's embrace escaped.
"The heat" murmured Xerr but the amused glint of his gray bead could not be lied to. "But like it or not, we have to keep going together. Point."
Eve secretly glanced at Xerr with a look of pity. This poor man had never felt Declan's anger and if he remained reckless, Declan's tantrum would definitely be accepted.
Oh, and also the other two Eve sisters. Ethan and Beckett. They certainly will not remain silent either.
"If you can meet me when the candle festival is held, then I'm willing to follow your request just now." Eve smiled obliquely. During the festival, Eve intends to languish inside the castle for a full day. There was no way this pitch-black unraveling man in front of him could break through the tight defenses of Lumiere castle. The challenge he gave was the same as impossible. "Goodbye. I hope we never see each other again."
Xerr was still standing observing as Eve boarded her horse carriage from a distance and slowly disappeared from her sight. The official flag of nobility was indeed not planted on the horse carriage because it was not used in attending formal events, only going to buy flowers. But Xerr knew full well who the car belonged to.
Nobles Lumiere. The noble family that is closest to his kinship with the royal family.
"I collect your promise, Lady Luvena," Xerr murmured before leaving in a flash of shadow.
