The orange sky quickly changed color to dark. The wind was blowing colder than before but that did not mean it could prevent Uncle Johan and Lumiere's family from eating together directly in the wild, precisely in front of their house which provides several empty plots of land that can be used as a dinner place.
Various fish and meat are burned on charcoal that is still burning, creating a distinctive aroma that forces the stomach to signal to be filled immediately. Five-meter long decorative lights are installed at the top as lighting. Perfect especially when they talk warmly and familiar like a family.
Aided by Eve and Aunt Sese, Margaret joins them all. Beckett, who was initially busy flipping fish on the fire, as the first person to know the whereabouts of Margaret then made a sound.
"Eh, Bi— means mama why are you here? Should've taken a lot of rest."
Ethan deftly gives a chair so that the duchess can sit by the bonfire. Margaret smiled wryly, not expecting that Britney's son wasn't as bad as her mother.
"He's right. You should have stayed in your room until you fully recovered" Zachary said. He approached and gave his coat to Margaret. "It's pretty cold here."
Touched? No, Margaret never even expected the warmth of the man again.
"It's been a few days in the room making me very bored so what's wrong with joining you guys?" Margaret chuckles. "Eve had previously said the same sentence as you to me. So please, don't forbid me to have fun here with you guys."
"Of course you can join us here." Ethan clasped his sister's shoulder strongly. "Beck, you don't have to ban mama."
"As per our agreement. Mama had to go back to the room before midnight, yeah," Eve was worried. "I don't want my mom to push herself."
"Don't worry, mama is stronger than Eve imagined." Margaret gently stroked her daughter's mane.
"Of course, my mother is not a weak woman. My mother is the strongest!"
"You are smart to praise, yes," replied Margaret smiling and circulating her gaze. "Rep, Eve. By the way where's your brother?"
Eve knew very well who Margaret meant. Declans. "Maybe you're doing something. He'll be here any minute. Mama take it easy."
"Eh, Margaret?" Sarah— Johan's wife smiled when she saw him. The woman had just come from her home, picking up some of the cutlery to be used. "Have you gone?"
Margaret nodded. "Much better. My health is thanks to all of you, thank you very much."
"Hoi, the food is ripe. Come here, don't forget to bring your own plates!"
"Well, let's have dinner" Sarah asked as she helped Margaret walk up to a table lined with food from grilled sausages, fish, and even chicken. Perfect, really like a two-family party.
"Tonight is the first time we ate with her father and sister Eve, yes" Sarah said lightly. He thrust his fork at the still steaming sausage and placed it on the plate. "We hope we can get to know you more."
Beckett nodded quickly as he devoured his catch of fish today. The taste of the fish he caught was completely different. More delicious of course. Even the cuisine of the chefs in the castle was not comparable. Of course very good, because after several times trial— where previously Beckett only get garbage— then he can get the best fish.
"Ish, shameful," Eve blatantly sneered. The others laughed when they heard it.
"Don't kid!" reply Beckett without stopping the chewing.
In addition to the catch of the fish itself, it turns out that after a day of activities outside it is considered quite effective to make the food more delicious. Beckett was exhausted, and the pay for this fish was truly special!
"Let's take it again. The food is still a lot," said Johan happy. The man also took the grilled chicken and placed it on his plate.
Amidst the fun of the two families, Eve realizes that neither Declan nor Garlein are around. Given the events of a few hours ago, it does not rule out the possibility of the two getting back into an argument without being known by anyone. Thinking about it, Eve became unappetizing. He put his plate back on the table.
"Why? No like?"
Hearing the rebuke of the Duke of Lumiere, both Johan, Sarah, and Margaret both stared at Eve.
"No, it's not that. It feels incomplete if you eat foods as lively as this without the company of orange syrup," alibi smoothly. To complete it, Eve threw a warm smile then stood up.
"You guys eat first. I want to take syrup at home. It won't be long!"
...----------------...
The sky looks so dark tonight. There was no moon hanging above, leaving a deep silence that accompanied Garlein in his solitude. Completely alone, and he could only hear the neighing of the night beast deep in the forest.
Garlein knew that his father and mother were busy with Eve's family who had never been seen the trunk of his nose. And he had no intention of joining them. Not for the moment.
"I heard that in the forest south of Clingeer there were three wild bears."
The surprised Garlein quickly turned his gaze towards the origin of the sound. Declan still looks so stunning with his simple clothes. The man's chest was firm, just like the one from the military forces. His gaze was sharp, even having shrunk Garlein's guts at the beginning of their meeting.
Garlein looked away and then screeched. "Sokot know."
"There's never anything wrong with my words."
"Snack." Contrary to the evasive gesture he just showed, Garlein was now blatantly staring right in front of Declan's eyeballs.
"Many things people rarely know about Clingeer, but you do. Where did your family come from, is it from the village around here? Or are you educated people?"
"Five books every day. That's my father's duty." Declan decided to sit next to Garlein who was amazed at the answer. "If it doesn't fit his terms, he'll give a sentence."
"Typical a very cruel man."
Hearing Garlein's comment, Declan chuckled. "Thanks to his cruelty I managed to become a useful person."
"Looks like you know a lot about the outside world" Garlein replied.
"Well, that's how. Next, I will teach Eve about the vast outside world. A place where he should not be sympathetic let alone to cause trouble. That's my way ... way to make up for my negligence all this time against him."
"Can I join?"
"Eh?"
"I want to know the outside world too, Dec," he said expectantly. But Garlein covered it while staring at the empty sky. "I have a plan for myself. Living in Clingeer has really made my life assured, but I haven't tried what life is like out there. A life without parental money, living in a different home, then choosing a partner based on love. I want to make it all happen."
Garlein lowered his gaze. Kicking the pebbles he managed to make away. Hah ... what can she expect from someone who already has a negative image of her? Last afternoon, they had a fight started by his mouth that could not bear to sneer. No, blasphemy more precisely. And his request just now sounded like a self-informed human being.
"of course. Whatever you want to know, you can write me a letter."
Garlein. "But .. I already offended you about Eve. How can you even help me?"
"What you said this afternoon, it's true." Declan closed his eyes and took a deep breath. "I shouldn't have acted that way."
Silence takes over. Again, only the neighing of the night beasts dominated their sense of hearing. Not long after, they heard hasty footsteps heard from the opposite direction. Declan stood back up, standby. However after finding out who was approaching, his smile was slowly etched.
"Ah, apparently you're here. Hurry up, dinner's ready. If it's too late you don't get to it!"
"My ration food, you're the one who spent it." Declan ruffled Eve's blonde mane heartlessly. The girl made him cluck in annoyance.
"Ish, no-no. I want to eat with you. Point." Eve directed her gaze at Garlein. "You too, Garlein. If you two don't want to eat, then neither will I!"
"Well, who said we wouldn't eat? Come on, let's go there!" timpal Garlein hurriedly while dragging Declan and Eve together.
