Looking at the person who was now standing and smiling at him, Ryan was aghast. Not only was that person looking at him, but his father and brother were now staring at him. "Ryan, why are you standing there? Come on in, isn't she the woman you want to introduce me to?"
That person is Dafina. A sweet and beautiful girl who willingly came from America only to meet a lover who has not met for almost a month. "Sorry, if my arrival surprises you." Dafina smiled as she looked at Ryan who had still not moved from where he was standing.
Slowly, Kania appeared and walked beside Ryan who was still not moving. Looking at Kania, the smile on Dafina's face faded. "The girl ... " Dafina sat down with a rumble that was seeping in her chest. Straight away, his gaze was fixed on Arya who was walking closer to Kania.
"Here, I help." Arya picked up the item that Kania had brought with her loving gaze. Seeing them, Dafina became confused until she was surprised by the Wicaksana greeting that invited her to sit down.
"Sit down, you must be tired from just traveling far. If you don't mind, can we talk for a minute?" Dafina smiled and sat down.
"Ryan, come on, sit down." Wicaksana called his son. Ryan put down his luggage and sat down next to his father.
Before long, Kania came while carrying a few cups of tea and placed on the table. Looking at Kania closely, Dafina was stunned with a beautiful face that now troubled her heart. "Why did this girl get to go home with Ryan's family? What don't-don't ... "
"I'm sorry, are you my son's girlfriend?" ask Wicaksana who distracts Dafina. Hearing Wicaksana's question, Dafina smiled shyly.
"Ah, so it's true. Thank goodness, I finally got to meet my son's girlfriend." Wicaksana smiled as she sipped the tea that Kania had just served.
"Oh, yeah, what's your name, son?"
"My name is Dafina Saraswati, Om."
Wicaksana smiled again and looked at Ryan who had been silent. "Ryan, why are you just quiet? Are you ashamed that Dad's here?"
"No, Dad. I was just surprised that Dafina came without telling me." Ryan tried to cover up his shock behind a smile that was forced.
Before long, Arya came with Kania while holding Tania. Dafina looked at them with curiosity that was so bothersome to her.
"This is my eldest son, Arya, with his wife, Kania, and this is Ryan's niece, Tania." Wicaksana introduced his son, son-in-law and grandson.
Dafina nodded while introducing herself. Next to Arya, Kania sat down while holding Tania who was now holding her.
Seeing them, Dafina breathed a sigh of relief as if she was taking off the burden that had stuck in her heart. Kania's face was not the first time she had seen him. Dafina knew who Kania was and she was shocked when she saw Kania.
At first, he thought that he was too late because he thought that the lover he had just dated a year ago had abandoned him and returned to Kania, but in fact he was wrong because the girl was actually married to her lover's sister.
"You guys talk, we don't want to interrupt. We better leave them." Wicaksana then stood up and was followed by Arya and Kania. Wicaksana enters her room, as well as Arya and Kania who rush into Tania's room. Their daughter apparently missed them so much that she asked her parents to accompany her in the room.
"That's uncle's girlfriend, huh, Ma?" tania asked as they had just entered the room.
"Why? Isn't she pretty?"
"Yes, Ma, but Mama is prettier, really." Hearing her daughter's words, Arya smiled and kissed the cheek of the baby.
"Yes, Tania's mother is the most beautiful. Yeah, right, my wife?" Arya looked at Kania who was now smiling at her. Seeing the smile on Kania's face, Arya was stunned.
Tania then sat in a small chair that she used to wear while playing while holding a fairy tale book that Kania often read to her. While spelling letter by letter, Tania read the writing in the book. Looking at her daughter who had started learning to read, Arya smiled and sat on the bed beside Kania who was also sitting beside her.
"Did you teach him to read?" Kania nodded while watching Tania who was loudly spelling out letters.
"It turns out your efforts worked. He is good at lettering and also spelling. It's not in vain that I marry you." Arya then lay down while looking at Kania with a smile.
"No need, just accompany me. Looking at you, I'm happy, really." Kania smiled and picked up a pillow and placed it under her husband's head. "Rest."
While lying down, Arya clasped Kania's hand. In fact, he occasionally kissed the back of his wife's hand with a smile on his face. Seeing her, Kania feels unbearable because she has not been able to be frank about her past with Ryan. If left unchecked, she is afraid that Arya will hate her and even leave her.
"Why are you nervous?" asked Arya who slowly opened her eyes that had been closed earlier.
"You haven't slept?"
Arya shakes. "How can I sleep if my wife is agitated. What are you thinking?" Arya then put her head on Kania's lap. Without a doubt, Arya began to behave like a husband who spoiled his wife. Seeing Arya's attitude towards him, Kania just smiled.
"I didn't think of anything. Sleep on." Kania's right hand was clasped by Arya while occasionally being let out. Seeing her husband's face on her lap, Kania smiled. The man's eyes were closed and Kania could freely see the look of a handsome and tender face that was now silent before his eyes. Without a doubt, Kania gently stroked her husband's head while occasionally stroking his thick, black, well-engraved forehead. The man's sharp nose looks in harmony with his white skin to create a face that is so charming.
"I love you." Arya spoke without opening her eyes as if she wanted to express her feelings now. Kania's hand that had once stroked Arya's head, momentarily stopped. Feeling the soft caress stopped, Arya then grabbed Kania's hand and held it tightly. "I love you and I want us to stay together forever. I love you so much."
Hearing the expression of the man's heart, Kania let out tears. How very happy he was because the man who had captured his heart was in love with him. But for some reason, Kania felt like there was a huge barrier between them.
Looking at Kania who was just silent made Arya open her eyes and how surprised she was when she saw the tears hanging on her eyes. Immediately, Arya got up and sat down in front of Kania. "Why are you crying? Did my words hurt you?" Arya feels guilty to the point of making her wipe away the tears on Kania's cheeks.
Kania shook her head and looked at Arya who looked worried about her. Slowly, Arya hugged him and gently stroked the head of Kania. "I'm sorry if it made you cry. I promise, I'll never make you cry again." Arya's words felt so touching that it made Kania return her embrace. Kania drowned herself in Arya's arms and she cried there. She weeps over her love story that will either end in whom. He cries because his love is now at stake because of the selfishness of the love that began to be shown by the ex-lover who still expects it. And he wept because he wept for his dishonesty that he had not dared to utter.
While out there, Ryan seemed to be sitting in the courtyard with Dafina who was still silent beside him. Until Ryan spontaneously said something that made Dafina feel in disbelief. "Sorry, we'd better end our relationship." Sure enough, Dafina was surprised that the girl looked at Ryan as if in disbelief.
"Whatchu mean? Ryan, you're kidding me, right?" Dafina still considers that his lover's words are only a joke, but not for Ryan who has been unanimous with his decision.
"I'm sorry I wasn't kidding. I think you know why I asked to end this relationship. I've found my happiness and it's on him." Ryan looked straight ahead as if he wanted to avoid Dafina's gaze that began to get wet with tears.
"Is it because of that woman?" Dafina, who knows Ryan's past, apparently knows that his girlfriend will never be able to forget her first love. Yes, Kania is Ryan's first love and Dafina is just a place of escape. Dafina, who realized her position now, could only smile bitterly when she knew that her lover actually wanted to end a relationship that was already impossible for her to maintain.
Dafina is very understanding of Ryan's attitude that can not just forget his love story in the past. Dafina realized, in Ryan's eyes he was only a friend because the love offered by him was not able to eliminate the enormous love for Kania. Although angry and disappointed, Dafina could not do anything, because she realized that she was not the self that Ryan wanted, but the woman who was now married to her own brother.
"Ryan, how can you be with her if she is married to your sister. Would you take it from your own brother?"
"I didn't take it, I just wanted to take mine that he borrowed. He only married because of covenant not because of love." Dafina still did not understand Ryan's words, even though she chose to be quiet.
"I'm sorry I didn't tell you from the beginning. I didn't mean to hurt you, it's just that we can't continue this relationship. I hope you can understand." Ryan turned his gaze to Dafina who was now holding back tears with tears filling her eyes. Even so, Dafina could still smile between her tears to make Ryan embrace her. "I'm sorry, I know I was wrong, but I can't live without it. I was wrong because I did not find out about him and I left without knowing the problems he was facing. I just wanted to make amends all this time who hated her so much, it turned out that hate made me love her even more. I'm sorry, Dafina."
The girl nodded and tried to accept the reality that felt so stifling her chest. The love he felt for the young man, in fact, could not make him accepted in his heart. The love that had been stored for a year, finally evaporated and disappeared because the love that Ryan had saved for years turned out to be for another woman who could not be lost from the young man's heart and mind.
Dafina wiped her tears and tried to smile in front of Ryan. "If it's your decision, I'll accept it because I know how much you love her. I won't hold you back because it will only make me more hurt. I hope that what you want with him can be realized. I wish you happiness with him. " The point of tears slowly fell as Dafina said it all. Ryan hugged her back and said a thousand words of apology.
Dafina then got up and resigned. He has nothing left to discuss with Ryan. With a disappointed heart, Dafina left Ryan staring at her disappearance.
With forced footsteps, Ryan walked into his room and threw his body on the bed. He was very cruel to Dafina. A woman who has filled the emptiness of her heart for almost a year. However, he must be able to make a decision because his decision to be with Kania was his last decision even though he knew, his decision was not easily accepted by his family. "I have to be patient. I'll wait for the right time to explain everything to Arya and Dad. I hope they will understand my decision." Ryan closed his eyes and only the shadow of Kania's face played into his memory. At first glance, Ryan smiled as he imagined the face of Kania who smiled spoiled at him until he fell asleep in the cradle of his beautiful dreams.
While in his room, Wicaksana seemed to shed tears as his gaze was directed at a worn-out photograph in his hand. Her vulnerable face smiled when she saw the beautiful face that was smiling in the photo. "My wife, I miss you so much. Do you miss me too? Ah, I know that because you often come in my dreams. Does that mean, we'll meet soon?"
For several days, Wicaksana often dreamed of meeting his wife. In his dream, his wife came and smiled at him. Holding hands, they walked down a vast green field. A white light seemed to radiate as if illuminating their steps. For a moment, Wicaksana smiled as he recalled his wife's smile. "I'm tired. I want to see you soon, but how can I go while I can't make our son happy. Ah, hopefully the presence of Dafina can change our son's stance so that I can see you soon." A glimmer of hope that his youngest son could get married soon, but his hope was only a false hope because Ryan had given up hope.
Now, their feelings are being played with by fate. The hope of being with loved ones, apparently not always can be realized because they must be able to choose on whom the hope will end. Could it be, someone has to go back to bear the disappointment or have to defend even though they have to make others disappointed?
