It was the day before noon when Ryan's car drove into the courtyard of the mansion. From inside the car, came out the middle-aged man with his simple-looking appearance. Just wrapped in cloth trousers and a sweatshirt, the man slowly walked into the house.
In front of the door, Kania was already standing with Tania in her carriage. Seeing them, the man smiled. "My son-in-law." The man smiled as Kania shook his hand while kissing the back of his hand. His face looked happy as he looked at his granddaughter and son-in-law who were standing up to greet him.
"Tania, Grandpa misses you so much." The man took Tania from the sling of Kania. Although the little girl initially felt reluctant, but when she saw Kania nodding for her, the little girl finally did not dodge when her grandfather carried her.
"Grandfather's grandson is getting bigger. Grandpa misses you so much." The middle-aged man kissed her grandson's cheek and made Tania laugh.
"Dad, you better take a break first. Let my wife take care of Tania."
"It's okay. I came here because I miss my granddaughter. My daughter-in-law, come here, sit with me here." The man looked at Kania who had just stood up. Kania then sat not far from him. The two brothers were busy putting their father's suitcases into the room.
Bi Suri came with a glass of his employer's favorite coffee. With a smile, the man started sipping the coffee Bi Suri had just placed on the table. "Hmm, Bi Suri's coffee is the most delicious." Praise him with a smile. Bi Suri simply smiled and returned to the kitchen.
"My daughter-in-law, are my two children bothering you?"
Kania smiled and looked at that wise-looking old face. "No, Dad. They don't bother me. I'm happy because the house is crowded with the presence of Father and also sister-in-law."
The man smiled back. "Thank God then."
After finishing putting their father's belongings, the two brothers sat down near their father. "Dad, is Daddy's business over there done?" arya asked trying to find out.
"Oh, Dad has finished it. Oh, yeah, I'm not going back there. I want to stay here with you." Suddenly, Arya was surprised when she heard the words of her father.
"Why are you quiet? Don't you like Daddy living with you?"
"No, Dad. Stay here until anytime. My husband and I are so happy that you can stay with us." Kania smiled as she said that sentence. For some reason, he agreed to her in-laws request. Seeing her, Kania was very happy because her figure reminded her of the father.
"What do you mean by Father? Why don't you want to go back there? Then, what about our company and our house that's there?" Ryan was so surprised when he heard his father's explanation.
"Don't worry, everything's fine. Better get some rest. After that, I'll explain it to you." The man handed his granddaughter over to Kania and stepped away towards his room. Seen, his vulnerable face looked tired.
"Sister, what do you mean by father? Why would you say something like that?"
"Of that, we'll wait until Dad explains it. Right now, you don't think the no-no first."
From the look on his face, Ryan looked so anxious. If his father doesn't return to America, he won't go back there either. Irritated, the young man walked towards his room.
"Kania, I want to talk to you." Arya walked towards the room and Kania followed her from behind.
"Sit down." Arya sat on the sofa chair and Kania sat next to her.
"You've heard from Dad that he's going to stay here and not come back to America. You know, right, if that's true, then we'll forever keep playing. And earlier, you didn't mind when dad said to stay here. Honestly, I don't understand your way of thinking. Do you want us to be in this charade forever?"
Kania understood the man's worries. He also realized, what he said earlier will make him continue to be in the house and will continue to undergo a marriage charade that either ends until when.
"I'm sorry. I don't mean to take that decision unilaterally. I just spontaneously uttered without any intention. Honestly, I was happy to see your father, but if you mind what I said earlier, I'm sorry." Kania lowered her face and looked regretful on that beautiful face of hers.
"I'm not mad at you, but I'm worried about you. I don't mind dad staying here, but I don't think that you're still here. Kania, are you aware of what you said earlier? Do you want to go on a show while you're here?"
"I don't mind!" Kania raised her face and looked at Arya with the glare of her sparkling eyes.
"You don't mind? Have you thought about it? Kania, do you realize that your decision will not make you regret it? Do you want to have a show for the rest of your life?"
"Why? Do you no longer want to continue this charade?" Kania's face suddenly changed. His face looks sad.
Arya looked at Kania who seemed to change. His eyes suddenly turned soft. "I like being here. When I saw your father, I remembered my old father. When I was at the dinner table, I remembered my family joking around with breakfast. Looking at Tania, it was like seeing a shadow of myself. I ... I want to be in the middle of your family because I ... " Kania was silent. Her tears slowly fell. The longing for family, the longing for warmth and togetherness of a family make Kania feel comfortable in their midst.
"I'm happy here. Even though our marriage was a charade, everything I gave and what I felt was not a charade. I don't want to play in front of them. Arya, give me a little time with them. I will leave if someday you find a woman who can give love to Tania and your family. I promise, I'll go, but before that happens, please let me stay here." Kania looked begging.
"Well, if you still want to survive, I won't forbid. If you can love them like your own family, I can't forbid it either. If that's your decision, I'll follow."
"really? Can I still live here? You don't mind, do you?" Arya nodded and smiled at him. Suddenly, Kania immediately hugged the man. "thank you. I'm glad if you don't mind, I'm happy." Kania smiled happily while hugging Arya. The man was still stunned as Kania hugged him. At a glance, she smiled as Kania let go of her embrace and walked out from inside the room with her carefree smile.
"Ah, I'd be crazy if she kept doing this to me. Is he that stupid? Ah, Kania. You can drive me crazy with that attitude." Arya smiled re-imagining Kania's behavior which to her was adorable.
Inside Tania's room, the girl smiled as she hugged her little daughter. "Mama why?"
"Mama is happy. We'll be together longer. Mama loves you." Kania kissed the little girl's cheeks with a smile. Tania who saw her mother smiling happily made her smile and kissed her cheek back.
Inside the room, Wicaksana seemed to be lying down while looking at the ceiling of the room. Her face looks beautiful. The man sat down and picked up a suitcase on the floor. The suitcase that was not too big was then opened and took a brown map lying on top of a pile of clothes.
With his trembling hands, Wicaksana opened the map. Each sheet is opened. Suddenly, her tears fell down her wrinkled cheeks. "I'm sorry dad. I can't be straight with you guys. I want to spend the rest of my life with you. I'm happy that the end of my life could be in your midst." The water is slowly being washed away. The chocolate map was then saved back.
The map was the result of his health check. Shortly before his arrival to Indonesia, Wicaksana conducted a health test. Therefore, his arrival missed the previous schedule. Not wanting her youngest child to be suspicious, Wicaksana finally asked her child to come first.
Wicaksana slowly wiped away her tears. That old face looks so sad. How not, the doctor turned out to have sentenced his life that can only last for two years. It was like being struck by lightning when the doctor said that. The middle-aged man could not help but cry. Even so, he did not want to dissolve in his sadness and had to show his cheerful face in front of his family. He did not want to, they were sad when they heard about his illness.
"Ah, it's okay if God gives me that fast time. As long as I'm with my family, I will sincerely accept my destiny."
Wicaksana smiled among tears. A worn photo was stared at by her with a happy smiling face. "My wife, wait for me. Soon, we will meet. I'm sorry, because I still want to be with our children, grandchildren and daughter-in-law. I want to make them happy. After that, I'll definitely see you."
Back, the man wiped his tears. Although sad, he had to pretend tough in front of his family. Even though he was sick, he had to pretend to be healthy and strong in front of them.
"Dad, are you asleep?" Arya's voice shocked her. While wiping away her tears, Wicaksana got up and opened the door of her room.
"What's up, son?"
"It's time we had lunch, Dad."
"All right." Wicaksana went out and closed the door to her room. In the dining room, Ryan and Tania were already waiting. While Kania, still helping Bi Suri to prepare food.
"Where's your wife?"
"In the kitchen, Dad. He's helping Bi Suri."
"Arya, don't make your wife take care of the kitchen anymore. Pity her for having to look after Tania and also take care of you. Anyway, you should find a housekeeper to help Bi Suri. I don't want my son-in-law to be exhausted. Understood?"
"Yes, Dad. Maybe Bi Suri's niece came to work here for a while."
"Good then."
Kania came from the kitchen carrying two dishes filled with side dishes and placed them on the table.
"My daughter, sit down."
"Good, Dad." Kania then sat down beside Arya.
"From now on, you no longer take care of the kitchen. Your job is to look after my grandson and your husband. I don't want you to be tired."
Just as Kania wanted to answer, her hand was suddenly grabbed by Arya, as if she wanted to signal Kania to obey her father's words.
"Good, Dad."
The man smiled. "Come, we eat" he said, scooping rice into his plate.
Lunch looks more crowded than usual. The presence of his father makes the atmosphere of the house more colorful. Tania, looks familiar to her grandfather. Although long time no see, but Tania did not hesitate when invited to play by him.
In the middle room, they sat while chatting. Arya seemed to sit down while discussing with her father. While Ryan, seemed to lie on the sofa chair while staring at his cellphone.
"Ryan, call your sister-in-law." The young man got up from his seat and headed to Tania's room, where Kania was sleeping.
Ryan knocked on the door slowly and soon the door opened. Seeing Kania, Ryan barged in and immediately closed the door again.
"What do you want?" asked Kania with a lowered voice.
Ryan did not reply, but his face looked flat with a gaze that led to the pretty face of the girl. "Why? Are you scared?"
"Come out, I don't want any slander."
"Don't worry, right now I won't mess with you. I just wanted to ask, did you enjoy every night with my brother?"
"What are you talking about? Aren't you ashamed to ask your sister-in-law that?"
Ryan chuckled and looked at Kania as his hand touched the girl's face. "Why should I be ashamed? Ah, if only my brother knew what his wife's behavior was like, I'm sure he'd leave you."
"Whatever, I'm not afraid of your threats." Kania then opens the door, but Ryan's burly hand immediately pulls Kania's hand until their bodies are so close. Kania was startled as Ryan's gaze pointed at her and slowly Kania could feel the young man's breath suddenly drawing closer to her face.
"Come out, my dad wants to talk to you." Ryan whispered in Kania's ear and then left Kania holding the tremors in her chest.
Kania's heart beats violently when she sees the face of the young man who once made her fall in love. Ah, that face looked dazzling to the point of making Kania immediately close her eyes.
After arranging her heart, Kania then went to the living room where Wicaksana smiled upon seeing her arrival. "Sit down."
Kania then sat down in front of the man. Next to her, Arya sat down. Seeing them, Wicaksana smiled. "Prepare, I'll have your wedding reception and after that you'll be on your honeymoon."
Sontak, Kania and Arya are shocked. Not only them, Ryan who looked engrossed with his phone was no less surprised to make him immediately sit and look at Kania. "What's? Honeymoon?"
