Love Kania

The Part 33

"I'd better go back." It had been an hour that Kania and Ryan were sitting together at the bamboo hall and Kania decided to return soon. Ryan did not refuse, even he let Kania slowly go to leave him who while still staring at the pounding waves.

The day that began to go by day made Kania rush to go home. Moreover, Arya is going home for lunch. Since there is Kania, Arya prefers to spend her lunch time at home. Just like he used to do when his late wife was still around.

In the taxi, Kania sat down and recalled the time with Ryan. At least, he would no longer be hated by the young man. And Ryan himself began to try to accept the fact that the woman he once loved and hated, has now become his own brother-in-law. Ryan has decided to return to America and forget about the girl.

In front of the courtyard of the house, Kania accelerated her footsteps. Until his steps stopped when he saw Arya standing at the door of the house. "Sorry, I'm late." Kania lowered her face when she saw Arya staring at her.

"What are you doing? Come on, come in." Arya walked up to him and grabbed his hand. Kania raised her face and she was shocked when she saw Bastian and Selly already standing in front of her. "You guys?"

Bastian and Selly nodded almost simultaneously. "Why are you surprised to see us?" Bastian smiles. Likewise with Selly who temporarily grasped the hand of Tania who was standing next to him.

"What are you guys coming here for? Is there anything important?" ask Kania while sitting down.

Bastian walked up to him with a box in his hand. The box was placed on the table. "Happy birthday." Bastian opened the box and it was a birthday cake.

The birthday cake looks simple with chocolate decorations on each corner. Kania smiled to make her shed tears. "Send my gratitude to your mother. She never forgot my birthday and always made me a birthday cake." Kania wiped away her tears as she eyed the kindness and care of the woman. Seeing Bastian who gave her a birthday cake, Kania immediately knew that the cake was made by the mother of her best friend.

Every birthday, the woman often makes a birthday cake for Kania. For him, Kania is not only a friend of his son, but also as his daughter.

"Come, Ma. Cut the cake." Tania looked enthusiastic when she saw the birthday cake.

"What kind of lunch have you had yet?" kania asked the little girl.

"Not yet, Ma."

"Then, the cake Mama save first and we should have lunch, after that Mama just cut the cake. It's okay, right?"

"Yes, Ma." Tania nodded and closed the cake back.

"You haven't had lunch either. Aye, right?" ask Arya Kania. The man smiled while nodding.

"We should have lunch first. I'll have Bi Suri prepare the food. Wait a minute, yeah." Kania goes to the kitchen and is followed by Selly. The two women looked compact enough to make Arya and Bastian stare at them.

The sound of a motorcycle rang out in the courtyard. Ryan, who had just arrived, approached his brother and handed him a box of cookies. "It's Sister's cake."

"Thank you, yeah." Ryan nodded and rushed into his room. Soon, he came out and sat down with his brother.

"Where are you from?" arya asked as her sister sat beside her.

"I just met an old friend. It just so happened that today was her birthday, so I invited her to lunch, but she couldn't because her boyfriend was already waiting for her." Ryan looked towards Bastian who was sitting in front of him. And Bastian realizes Ryan's words were purposely aimed at him.

"Whose birthday cake did you order for, brother? Feeling, in our family there's no birthday today?" asked Ryan who pretended to know nothing.

"This is for your sister-in-law. Today, he's his birthday."

Hearing her brother's remark, Ryan smiled as he glanced at Kania who was while preparing food on the dining table. "Oh, my sister-in-law has a birthday." Ryan stood up and walked towards Kania. "Happy birthday brother-in-law." Ryan said those words with a smile that emanated from the corner of his lips. Kania just replied to him with a smile. "Thank you."

Suddenly, the young man's attitude made Bastian and Selly look at him. Seeing the attitude of Kania who responded to Ryan with ordinary course, Bastian became astonished. "What's wrong with those two?"

Although surprised, Bastian can not do anything, other than see the behavior of Ryan who seemed ordinary. Until lunch is over, Ryan still acts as if he and Kania are like a brother and sister-in-law.

"Sister, where's dad?" ryan asked who had not seen his father.

"Dad's still at his friend's house. He said, just a little afternoon to come home."

While in the hospital, Wicaksana was seen lying in the check room. The middle-aged man appeared to be examined by a doctor.

"How's my condition? How long can I last?" ask the doctor.

"Already, Fahri. Just tell me, I'll hear it." Wicaksana slowly sat down and looked at his best friend.

Doctor Fahri is a doctor and his best friend who has been monitoring his condition. On the grounds of visiting a friend's house, Wicaksana turned out to go to the hospital to check his health condition.

Seeing the condition of Wicaksana, the doctor who is familiarly called doctor Fahri it can only calm his best friend. "Don't think too much and be optimistic. Although medical analysis says your age is not long, but the analysis of the Almighty can be more or less than that. Bang, stay happy and live with passion, so I'm sure I can extend your age a little bit." Wicaksana smiled and nodded.

"Thank you, I'll remember what you said. Ah, I still want to live longer with my two children, my daughter-in-law and my granddaughter. I still want to see my son-in-law give me another grandchild and my youngest son get married." Wicaksana smiles while imagining that Kania can give her a grandchild and Ryan is getting married. That way, he could leave them quietly.

Before he dies, he wants to see his family happy with their partner. He wanted to fondle his grandchildren so that when he met his wife later, he could raise his head and say that he had managed to look after their children. Slowly, Wicaksana shed tears.

"Bang, be optimistic and stay upbeat." Doctor Fahri looks encouraging for him. Wicaksana nodded and wiped away her tears.

Late in the afternoon, Wicaksana returned home. His face looked pale as he entered the door of the house. Kania who saw his arrival, slowly approached him. "Dad why? Is Dad sick?" kania asked as she grabbed the middle-aged man's hand and invited him to sit down.

"Dad's okay." Wicaksana lied, but Kania didn't just believe.

Seeing the tired-looking condition of Wicaksana, Kania finally went to the kitchen and prepared warm honey water for her. "Drink, Dad." Kania gave him a glass of warm honey water. With a smile, Wicaksana accepted it and immediately gulped it down. "Thank you, son."

"Dad better take a break first. Come on, I'll take you to the room." Just as Kania wanted to grab her father-in-law's hand, Ryan suddenly appeared in front of her.

"Dad why?"

"Have it, you two don't look so panicked. Dad's okay, really. It's common for old people like Dad." Wicaksana slowly stood up, but his legs seemed to be not strong enough to support his own body so that it almost made him fall.

"Dad," Kania and Ryan said almost simultaneously. Kania's hand was accidentally touched by Ryan because he was panicked to see his father who almost fell. The young man's hand touched the father's shoulder which was also held by Kania. Suddenly, Kania released her hand from the shoulder of the Wicaksana.

"Well, I'll just rest in the room." Ryan then led his father into the room, while Kania could only look at them.

Seeing Wicaksana's condition, Kania became worried. The old man's face looked tired and weak. His face was not only pale, but it also looked increasingly thin.

In the room, Ryan accompanied the father who was lying down. Wicaksana stared at the face of his youngest son until he unconsciously made him shed tears.

"Why are you crying?" asked Ryan who was slowly sitting by the bed.

"Married, Son. I want you to get married soon." The words of the father made Ryan can only smile bitterly.

"Dad, what's wrong? Why did you suddenly ask me to get married?"

Wicaksana smiled as she stroked the face of her son. "What's wrong if a parent asks their adult child to get married? Ryan, get married and build a happy household like your brother. I am so grateful that your brother was finally able to get married and forget the sadness of losing his late wife. I've never seen the joy on your sister's face after Rani's departure, but Kania's presence can make your sister happy."

"Are you happy with your brother-in-law in the middle of our family?"

Wicaksana then sat down and leaned on her bed. "Kania is a kind woman. Your sister told Dad about your sister-in-law. Kania is an orphan girl. Kania's past makes Dad feel sorry for her." Ryan listened carefully to every word his father said.

"Indeed, what kind of past made you feel sorry for your sister-in-law?"

"The old man Kania used to be a capable person. Until finally, one day his father was deceived by his own best friend to make them bankrupt. Since then, Kania decided to quit college and help the family economy while paying the debt of her father who began to get caught up in gambling and drunkenness. Not to mention the torture he and his mother got from his father to make his mother kill his father. Not long ago, Kania lost her mother to leukemia. Your brother deliberately told the journey of your sister-in-law's life to Dad so that Dad did not know it from others to make Dad disappointed. However, I am not at all angry or disappointed with your brother's choice because I believe he can make your brother happy. Your sister married him because Kania loved Tania and Tania loved him very much. I really hope they'll be happy forever."

Every word the Wicaksana spoke made the young man's heart rumble. Everything he knew about Kania turned out to be only half of it because he did not know anything. With tears in his eyes, Ryan left his father and stepped out of the room. His eyes were wildly looking for Kania's figure. Until his eyes fell on the girl who had just come out of Tania's room.

Seeing him, Ryan immediately rushed over to him. Without saying anything, Ryan grabbed the girl by the hand and took her to the backyard. Kania who tried to resist, could not do anything because the young man's hand clasped his wrist tightly. Until arriving in the backyard, Kania saw the face of the young man who had been soaked with tears.

"Ryan, what's wrong? Why are you crying? Did something happen to Dad?" asked Kania who thought something had happened to her father-in-law.

"Explain to me what happened four years ago. Explain to me about our relationship and why you're not being frank with me. Kania, please explain everything to me!!" Highlight Ryan's eyes look so sharp that they hit the canary.

He was shocked to hear Ryan's every question and made him want to leave the young man, but his steps came to a halt as his hand was reached by Ryan, and once again Kania burst into tears upon seeing the young man's wailing face in front of him. "Kania, do I not deserve to know about your problems to make you hurt me?" Suddenly, Kania was stunned by the clear water droplets that slowly fell down on her face.
