43. Desire (Author POV)

On the eve of their wedding day, Elin and Javier intend to visit the grave of the late Arbei.

Javier plans to pick up Elin after his meeting ends today.

"I'm sorry for having to attend the meeting, it's because I've already delayed the meeting twice. But I'll pick you up later" Javier said with an unkind look at Elin.

"It's okay, brother. That's not a problem. We can go to Mom's grave in the afternoon."

Javier reviewed a thin smile and rubbed Elin's hair affectionately.

"All right, I'm leaving now, My Dear."

"Hm ..." Elin nodded her head.

Javier steals a kiss on Elin's cheek, making the girl shake her head while chuckling, then after that Javier really moves from his apartment.

In two days, a maid assigned by Javier will still come to clean. Javier never sued Elin for cleaning the house. However, occasionally Elin still kekeuh to do homework because he is bored if he continues to relax.

To this day, Elin decides to spend her time watching movies in the tv room after Javier leaves for his office. Elin has a list of movies to watch.

But over time Elin began to get bored with his film. He instead thought about Javier's request that they want to get married as soon as possible.

There was actually one more obstacle that made him hesitant to accept the marriage quickly. Although now he believes Javier has loved him but Elin still has ideals that he never revealed to Javier at all.

Elin wanted to be a student. He wanted to sit in college like his other friends. For this reason, he has not answered Javier's invitation regarding their wedding date.

Elin is confused as to whether or not he should state this to Javier. He wants to get an education even though only up to S1 only.

In that anxiety, Elin finally moved from her seat. He went into the space that Javier used as a space to work. There Elin borrowed Javier's laptop that was always available there.

Elin began surfing in the internet world, he wanted to find out the requirements to enter the world of university. In fact, Elin was once offered a scholarship because he was one of the outstanding students but he was unable to take that path when suddenly his mother was sentenced to be sick. Elin's attention was immediately drawn to her mother, until then Liam - her stepbrother - took advantage of the situation and made Elin's life really have to end in the man's hands.

To be honest, until now Elin has not been able to forget all the crimes she had received from Liam. His grudge against his brother is still there today and the intention to avenge the man is still very big in Elin's chest.

But Elin was quite grateful that she was finally able to escape the shackles of her life with Liam.

Elin long enough to find out about the university he wanted to enter. Although he has not discussed this with Javier, not necessarily he can actually go to college again but it never hurts to dream and know about his dream.

At 3 pm local time, Javier went straight home to the Apartment and did not find Elin anywhere. He looked for the girl and it turned out that Elin was in her study.

Elin seemed to fall asleep on the sofa in a sitting position and held a laptop whose screen seemed to light up.

"What's he doing?" javier's inner curious.

Javier approaches and sees what Elin is looking for on her laptop. The flat object screen showed that Elin was reading an article about a fairly elite university in their country.

Javier frowned, then started to sit by Elin's side without any intention of waking the girl up.

Very slowly, Javier grabbed the laptop from Elin's lap and saw in more detail the history of the page that Elin had visited.

"Do you want to go to college?" muttered Javier.

Javier sighed heavily, he knew the age of Elin who had not even 20 years was the time when Elin should have been in education.

Why did Javier suddenly feel selfish by inviting Elin to get married? Is this the reason Elin wouldn't mention a date for their wedding? So Elin still wants to go to college?

Along with that, Elin seemed to wake up from her sleep. He was a little jolted when he found out that Javier was sitting by his side staring at the laptop screen that should still be in Elin's hands.

"You awake?"

"When are you coming home, brother? I'm sorry I overslept" said Elin. Elin would bet if now Javier is wondering about Elin who is in his study.

However, when he realized again if the laptop he was using was already in the lap of Javier then Elin concluded that the man already knew everything about it.

Eventually Elin could not dodge and continued to cover up his desire. He confessed to Javier about it.

"Is this what's stopping you from marrying me?"

With doubt Elin nodded her head.

"Alright, I'll approve if you go to college. I'll pay for it myself" Javier broke up.

Elin is certainly happy but he cannot accept Javier's help for free because their status is not married and only limited to the bond of a couple not husband and wife.

"I can't accept your help because I haven't become anyone to you yet, Brother."

"But you're my future wife" said Javier calmly.

"But we're not married yet."

"So what's your decision?"

"I heard Gladwin's company became one of the donors to the university I dreamed of. That's your family's company, isn't it, brother? They used to give scholarships to high-achieving children."

"So you mean---"

"Yes, Brother. I want to try that scholarship. Let me prove that I'm worthy."

"Then our wedding?" Javier looked at Elin seriously, Elin of course knew there was disappointment in that look and he felt quite guilty about it.

Elin held Javier's hands together. "Give me time, brother. Until I actually get that scholarship, we're getting married. It doesn't matter if I have to be a student and double as your wife" she assured Javier.

Javier sighed, although heavy but he also had to appreciate Elin's desire not just thinking about his ego.

"You really don't have to bother, Elin. If you consider that you're nothing to me, then we're married and you'll be my wife, I'll pay for your college if you want. That easy. It doesn't make any difference, does it? Through the scholarship everything will feel longer" said Javier at length.

"Then I ask you to wait, brother. I'm gonna try first."

"I can't wait for that, Elin. Then I give you a shortcut" Javier said with a grin.

Elin rolled her eyeballs.

"Haha, what do you have me for if your wish for college alone should expect that scholarship. I won't allow it because the process is so long."

"It's actually what kept you from letting me through the scholarship because you couldn't wait for that long process, right? Because if I go through that process the same as you the longer we wait for our wedding day?" guess Elin looked into Javier's eyes.

"Yup. You're smart, honey. So, we're getting married as soon as possible and you can go to college as fast as you want."

Elin massaged her temple. Sometimes Javier always takes everything lightly. Naturally, because Javier has access to facilitate it, but what is wrong if Elin wants to try his own business?

"How's it?" javier asked Elin. This situation can actually be used so that Elin wants to accelerate their marriage.

Elin, who initially thought her desire to go to college would delay their marriage, thought hard now.

"I thought that with me going to college, you'd be willing to postpone the wedding, but why the opposite? You're even urging me to get married as soon as possible so I can pay for my college?" Elin scratched her head which was not itchy.

While there Javier only reviewed the smile of his flagship smirk in response to Elin's speech. He looked very relaxed even though he was a little gamang if their marriage would really be postponed long enough.

"That's it, don't think much, because nothing will be delayed about our marriage. And get ready as we'll be visiting your mother's grave soon."

If Javier had made a decision like this, Elin would have felt he had no chance to refuse. The only chance Elin had was to say yes and yes.

"Alright .." said Elin resignedly.
