AS A SLEEPING FRIEND

AS A SLEEPING FRIEND
34. I'm sorry (Author POV)

As Elin's condition had improved, she was allowed to go home by the Doctor. This reawakens Elin that he has no place to return except for Javier.

"I don't even have a home" the inner Elin thought of her next abode. Given her mother's absence, there is no chance of Elin returning to her parents' home. After all, there was Liam who was avoided by Elin.

Although Elin was eager to avenge Liam's treatment of him, but he realized that until now he did not have the power to fight his stepbrother. Because of that, Elin might dare to demand the right to the house she used to live in with Liam and his family.

"Let's go home!" Suddenly Javier's voice is heard, he has just finished taking care of the administration for Elin at the Hospital, it is time to bring the girl back to the Apartment.

"Is our deal still going on?" elin asked, because Javier again invited him to go home together, it means Elin will really return to the man's apartment and connect their agreement to become Javier's bedmate again.

"Of course, unless you've answered my call to marry."

Elin threw her gaze in the other direction, she did not want to see Javier at the other end.

Javier also did not want to discuss this further, given the health condition of Elin who has just recovered. He did not force the girl. What is clear, he will still wait for Elin's answer and decision regarding this matter, as long as Elin has not rejected it then he and Elin still have a chance to connect their agreement. At least, it will continue for a month, which is the grace period given by Javier's father in order to free Elin forever.

"Would I reject you then our deal will be over?" said Elin who again asked that, even though Javier had been silent for quite a long time and did not want to discuss it further.

"Yes. I was only given a month to stay with you. Whether or not you recover from the trauma, then I must keep you free."

Elin digested Javier's sentence carefully. He can conclude that he does not have much time to answer Javier's call. The choice is only 2. Yes or no. If yes, then they will marry even without the love of the man. But if not, then Javier will release Elin as agreed with his father. And if that happens then Elin will live alone without anyone in the world.

"Well, I'll answer you, brother."

Javier looked at Elin with a surprised look. I don't know why he felt so excited waiting for the girl's answer. He also did not expect that Elin would answer him now.

"Would you answer that?" Javier's feelings are suddenly not good, but he hopes Elin does not answer this quickly because he is still calm in a position like now where they are not required to get married or immediately separated. Javier wants to make good use of his one month and hopes to recover. That way, he did not need to marry Elin, nor did he have to free the girl as soon as possible.

"I know you weren't expecting that wedding" Elin said.

Javier fell silent in front of the hospital bed where Elin was still lying there.

"... I also know that you find it difficult to let go of me when your traumatic condition has not healed."

Now Elin stared fixedly at Javier's eyes. He remembered Cassie's words asking him to be more observant and see the man's feelings from the look in his eyes.

"I'm ... so grateful to you for ever redeeming me from a gambling establishment. So, consider our togetherness all along as a form of my gratitude for your kindness."

I don't know why Javier's feelings dinged when the sentence was triggered from Elin's lips. Now, he's getting bad. Javier is not ready to marry, but he is also not ready if rejected by Elin because it means Elin will leave him forever.

"I've got a decision on your offer, brother." Elin suddenly grabbed Javier's hand and grasped it, there was no rejection from the man, instead Javier felt Elin's attitude hinted something bad would happen soon.

"... I refuse to marry you" Elin continued.

Javier's gaze immediately focused on Elin's eyes right then and there, he could not believe that Elin had actually rejected him. There was a disappointed look in his eyes but he was also relieved that he did not have to marry Elin as soon as possible. Javier's in the middle of a worry right now.

"You're rejecting me?" javier asked with a voice that sounded vibrating.

Elin nodded, still clutching Javier's fingers, and now their gazes were intertwined with each other.

Javier shook his head, wanting to refute Elin's words but the girl's words had a point. She doesn't love Elin, does she?

"Then, what about me, Elin?" Somehow Javier's voice again vibrated when he said that.

Elin commented on the faint smile that looked bitter. "Why are you asking me? Of course you'll be fine. Do you think I'm turning down this marriage proposal just because I think of myself? No, sis. I do this also because I think of you, I don't want you to marry me with compulsion. It'll weigh you down, "he said at length.

"But, Elin ..."

Elin took off her hand on Javier, then she shook her head at the man.

"Already, Brother. I also know, even if I accept you you'll still not be happy."

"But at least we can still be together" Javier said.

"Together in a bond without taste? Sorry, I can't."

"alright. Now what's your plan?" ask Javier who won't force Elin again.

"Free me, brother. You don't have to wait a month to do that. Let me go," said Elin.

Javier's eyes were wide. He was not ready for this even though he had told Elin that if the girl rejected him then Elin would be free of him.

"... I'd be very grateful if you let me live without pain. Our growing togetherness will make my heart ache even more because my feelings are just clapping one hand at you."

Javier mangosteen. One hand clenched tightly together to express which emotions. At Elin's refusal or because of the girl's request who wants to be released from him immediately. He never thought if it turned out to be so heavy as it is today.

"alright. I'll set you free, Medeline Forza."

The corner of Elin's eyes suddenly felt watery, he was sure that right now he could not stem the rain that would soon fall on his cheeks.

"Thank you, Brother. Thank you for really setting me free now" Elin said in a very quiet voice. That's because he forced to talk when in fact he really wanted to cry right now.

Without a word, Javier immediately turned away, he came out of the room where Elin was.

"I was just trying to grant your wish, I didn't think it was hard enough for me" Javier muttered at the door.

While there, Elin finally spilled tears that had filled her eyes.

"I'm sorry, brother. I'm sorry," sobs Elin.

Elin knew it was hard for him. He has no one but Javier. But, he also could not have expected the man to continue because in the end, sooner or later Javier will still leave him and it will be much more painful when his feelings for the man get bigger.
