The Marrying Bet

The Marrying Bet
Reason Virda

Virda gathers with his relatives in order family arisan which is usually done every six months. Relatives unceasingly praised how Virda's life had changed by one hundred and eighty degrees in the past ten years.

Virda's husband used to be a fish-gatherer whose business flourished when her second child was born. They and their families lived prosperous and prosperous, making all the families of her husband who came from the village come and live fully dependent on the generosity of her husband, Mr. Vicram.

However, Vicram's business went bankrupt, and left the man with a heart attack. Vicram's sudden death caused his extended family great loss. Her husband's extended family decided to return to their hometown, leaving Virda and her two sons behind.

At that time Virda was desperate, if he had a daughter who could be betrothed to a rich man, maybe his life would not be full of concern. Virda who during his life became a mistress, of course slumped after the death of her husband. He hoped for the generosity of relatives, including by betrothal of his children to wealthy relatives, so that his life could be lifted from economic disadvantage. Virda feels that by marrying off her children, the burden and responsibility as a parent is done. Especially when he found out that his youngest child was considered to be approaching a change in sexual orientation, Virda was really scared. Virda even begged relatives, so that his son could soon be married to a willing cousin. Virda is certainly very disappointed, because no girl from his family is willing to marry his children.

Years later, when his two sons are successful, all of his family, who still have a daughter, scramble to become his son-in-law. That's what motivates Virda to test every woman who wants to be his daughter-in-law. Virda certainly put the family first, because it is easier to manage and control than others.

Ryo who had just returned home from work early was immediately welcomed by the family from his mother's side.

"Sister Virda, which sister's son? Very handsome," praise them all.

"I am Ryo," answered Ryo kindly to everyone, then gathered with them.

"Ryo is very handsome, exactly his father," they said unceasingly praising Ryo.

"Ryo's married?" ask them again.

"Not yet" answered Ryo.

"Mouthing off with a aunt's granddaughter?"

Ryo laughed, Ryo is not interested in being betrothed to his mother's family at all. That is why he chose not to marry, rather than be betrothed.

"What would I have to do with Amirah and Maimunah, Brother Virda?" ask Aunt Heni.

"That's Roy" Virda replied.

"Where is Roy, brother?" ask Aunt Idah.

"That used to be skinny, tall," replied Mrs Haji Badrun, Amirah's mother.

"Where is Roy, Virda's sister?" ask Aunt Heni again.

"Roy is married, Aunt Virda?" Amirah asked her former fiancee.

"Not yet" replied Virda.

"Why not get married yet, Auntie? Still waiting for me?" ask Amirah joking.

Virda laughed followed by the entire extended family. Amirah was grateful, he had not been married to Viceroy, a thin, dry young man, with his creepy face.

Viceroy just got out of his car and found a lot of people gathered in their house. Many of the faces he had not seen in the past ten years.

All eyes in the house were fixed on the figure of a handsome man in a gray suit, ignoring everyone who looked at him with gazes full of admiration.

"Roy," call Virda.

"It's Roy?!" Mrs Haji Badrun was flabbergasted, as were Amirah and Maimunah.

"This is Roy?!" Aunt Heni is wide-eyed.

All of them were in disbelief, the man with outstanding good looks was Virda's youngest child.

"This Roy is a model huh, Brother Virda?"

"Roy, do you remember me?" ask Amirah.

"Roy, I'm Maimunah" said Maimunah.

"Who is it?" Viceroy asked back.

"Those who were once to be betrothed to you, Roy," said Virda.

Viceroy furrowed his brows, "Sorry, used to not remember, now forgot."

Amirah and Maimunah were embarrassed. Really they did not expect, the handsome man had almost become their husband. Viceroy said goodbye, he chose to stay away from people who claimed to be family after he and his brother were successful. It's typical that most people who make Viceroy want to throw up so nauseous.

"Sister Virda, Roy used to not match Amirah, arranged with his son Amirah only how?" ask Bu Haji Badrun to Virda.

Virda just smiled.

"Please, Haji Ma'am," Virda replied.

For Virda, testing the smelly boys was easy. Moreover, they are mostly still school-age, despite being bulging so that they appear older than their age. They are still children. Not infrequently they cry bitterly because the test from Virda is not kidding. Virda certainly does not want his son to be played by women, so he really must be selective in choosing a wife for his children.

Virda really feels awkward, because Roy actually married the woman of his own choice, without his consent. Of the two exams Virda gave, the woman got away with ease. Virda wondered, who is that woman? But he was too hesitant to get to know more, before the test he gave was finished. Virda is upset, because this opponent is really smart. Not like the smelly kids who usually tested.

Virda seems to have to arrange a personal meeting with the woman, to find out her weakness and make it the ultimate weapon. He could have asked Ryo to send a spy to spy on the woman. However, obviously, the woman was so cunning as Ryo said.

Virda really has to intervene alone.
