The Marrying Bet
Neighbor's Visit

Vara's parents' house looks crowded filled with housing mothers. They all came to visit because they heard about Vara's wedding. They even came carrying large parcels wrapped in red wrapping paper.

"The bride is back, Mothers," said Bu Bejo commanding the mob she was carrying.

"Well, where's the groom?" ask Bu Muji.

"I'm sorry, my husband still has other business" Vara replied while holding back her frustration at Bu Muji for her long-standing nyinyir attitude.

"When we want to meet the groom who is said to be handsome," Ms. Rudi chimed.

"Geez, Mothers, my daughter-in-law is not that handsome, that handsome depends on who is looking" she said, chuckling.

"Congratulations, Vara, for your marriage, it was so sudden, we could not prepare a special gift," Bu Bejo said, emphasizing the sudden word that led to public opinion.

"Yes, yes, all of a sudden yes," Ms. Rudi chimed again.

Bu Muji threw a cynical look towards Vara's stomach, making Vara feel less comfortable.

"It's not sudden Mothers, it's time for Vara to get married," Father immediately interrupted the mother-mother conversation.

Mom immediately glared at the father, the father immediately gasped and put a flat face.

"Well, Vara got married, so when's Miss Slamet's party?" ask Bu Bejo.

"I'm sorry, I didn't throw a party, ma'am," Vara replied.

The middle-aged women were wide-eyed at Vara's reply.

"Yes, my gosh, Vara, are you married for life once, yeah, not throwing a big party? Moreover, you are an only child! Isn't that right, Miss Slamet?" cerocos Bu Muji towards Vara's mother.

"Yes yes, Mom, Riko used to make a big party, but the ends are divorced too" said Vara.

Bu Muji immediately gasped to hear Vara's speech. The atmosphere suddenly stiffened. Bu Muji was offended by Vara's words.

"Mom-mother, I as a parent just follow the will of the child," said Vara's mother melted the tense atmosphere.

"That's how it is, children today do want to be practical," said Bu Rudi.

"Well, just once again congratulations on Vara's marriage, may it last and soon be given a baby" said Bu Bejo. "Then, we retreat first," continued Bu Bejo.

"Thank you Mothers, sorry to be such a hassle" said Vara's mother who clearly forced herself to smile.

Mother and father immediately drove their guests out of the house.

Vara rolled her eyeballs, no matter what the mothers always mean to Vara's life. When Vara hasn't been married yet, they're nyinyir. Now Vara is married, they added ninyir.

"I'm sure, ma'am, Vara must have been pregnant first, where her husband was so mysterious, I suspect that maybe Vara is married to someone's husband!" chirp Bu Muji as soon as they walk out of Vara's parents' house.

"Makanya Vara does not hold a wedding party, afraid of being found out she is married to someone's husband!" guess Miss Rudi.

"Vara is really arrogant to refuse his match with Riko, and now he is married to someone's husband! Just look, I'll find out and I dismantle everything so that Vara knows what it's like to be humiliated" Bu Muji said.

He really did not accept Vara said Riko finally divorced too, even though it had held a massive party. As Bu Muji remembered, Vara did not attend Riko's wedding, from the news that circulated, Vara did not, Vara does not come to Riko's wedding party which is held in a luxurious and large-scale because Vara is depressed because of her void match with Riko.
