The Marrying Bet

The Marrying Bet
The Vara that used to be

Viceroy let out a heavy sigh, he threw his phone over the pile of documents he was examining. This was really unexpected, the thing that he did not plan on actually appeared. Though he thought by finding a partner, then getting married, it was enough. How did his mother interfere in determining the eligibility of the woman he married?

Is it because her mother still insists on arranging matchmaking with people who claim to still have a familial relationship with her?

Viceroy massaged his forehead, he certainly could not force Vara to act as he wished, because Viceroy did not give any payment to Vara. Vara only asks the man to ask for his parents' blessing. It's free, it costs nothing, and it's really easy for Viceroy.

After all, they only agreed to get married, not to agree to run a marriage in general. Who would have guessed that his mother had to do a feasibility test on a marriage that is only a formality.

Viceroy doesn't even know anything about Vara. He only knew that Vara was a modern woman like most women.

Fifteen years ago, the woman was just a high school girl in general. Vara is just a studious girl, has a lot of friends, because almost every weekend the girl treats her friends to eat in the school cafeteria, often bring lots of food and hand out to classmates. Yes, Vara is generous, he is a child of the class because his parents work in large state-owned companies. But Vara never boasted.

Viceroy recalled, every year when the girl had her birthday, all day her classmates would be entertained with a lot of food brought by Vara. Starting from birthday cakes, tumpeng, mini cakes, to fruits.

But that was Vara fifteen years ago, now even Vara is seen smoking. Though the woman used to complain to the teacher when she caught her friends smoking in class because of empty hours.

Viceroy called Vara's cell phone, at least she should discuss her mother's matter. Of course Viceroy is not comfortable if you have to discuss it at the home of Vara's parents. Moreover, he had not seen Vara this week, because he had to get out of town to take care of work.

Fortunately this was only a formal marriage, so Viceroy did not need to feel guilty for leaving Vara, even though they had just married.

"Vara, can we meet at Cafe Xyz, five o'clock this afternoon?" viceroy asked as soon as Vara answered his phone.

"Sorry Viceroy, tonight I have to go overtime, I'll call you later" Vara said, then hung up.

Viceroy frowned, it seemed like Vara was indeed so busy working. They agreed not to interfere in each other's personal lives. But they still have to meet to talk about the mission they have to face. Viceroy's mother was a tough type of woman. His decision is absolute. If Vara fails her mother's due diligence, this marriage must end in vain.

Viceroy had imagined that if Regina was the one he brought to see his mother, his mother would love Regina. Her sister will also definitely like Regina, because Regina is so beautiful as a celebrity from ginseng country. Moreover, they tend to have the same taste towards women. All the women Viceroy was after must have ended up being her brother's lover. For the past two years, Viceroy has been hiding Regina's whereabouts, as he fears Regina will be targeted by her brother. However, let alone say, Regina actually left Viceroy.

At least by marrying Vara, Viceroy will be safe, because Vara is not at all the type of woman who is his taste.
