"No, Ben. Please don't say that" Aamber continued sobbing. The middle-aged woman sat on the floor. Regret is evident and visible from his body language. "I've lost Samantha. However, one thing that always ringed in the ears, at that time Samantha asked that I always take good care of Fleur," said Aamber in between tears of pills.
"Then what are you doing? You handed me a baby that was only a few days old. You even came to France to see your grandson after Fleur was six. Something I'm really sorry about you, Aamber. Had your attitude not been excessive, then I would have never brought up all the negatives of you as well as the esteemed Mr. Duncan Morris. However, you forced me to do this yourself" Benjamin said disappointedly. In fact he also wanted to tell Fleur in a more subtle way, and perhaps give a good explanation for the little girl to understand him. However, Benjamin never thought that his closeness to Autumn, had raised his own fears for Aamber.
"That's the truth, Fleur," Benjamin said after a moment of silence. "Aamber is your grandmother, the birth mother of Samantha Morris," the gray-eyed man said.
"I've been trying to take good care of you until Aamber came and asked that you can stay in Marseille, the hometown of your grandmother. I did, even though it made me have to stay away from you. Then, why is it that now that I find another happiness, he should be afraid? In fact, all this time I've even been willing to shut down the big secret meetings that she's been hiding from you," Benjamin said slightly trembling. It was clearly a disappointed look, on his handsome face that looked very chaotic.
"Listen to me, Fleur," the gray-eyed man lowered his body. He knelt in front of the princess. Benjamin then clasped tightly onto the tiny fingers of the ten-year-old girl. "Everyone lives with a different character. You, me, and the others. Even if you are my daughter, that doesn't mean that you fully inherit your father's character. You bring your own character that is formed from the environment and also other factors. Same with Samantha and Elle. They are two different people, with their own advantages and disadvantages. You can't judge a person based on a story. It would be wise if you tried to get to know him more closely. The trick is to get familiar with him, then you will know and be able to ascertain what he is like. Only then can you judge that person with all your heart" Benjamin explained. He hoped Fleur could understand what he was saying.
Fleur did not answer. The copper-haired little girl could only bow listlessly. He realized that all this time he had put his father in a dilemma and also extraordinary turmoil. "I'm sorry, Papa," Fleur said softly.
"No, Honey. You don't have to apologize to me. Anyway, I don't know where Elle is and when she'll be back. No problem, Fleur. I've gotten used to this kind of situation" Benjamin then got up. "Prepare. Today you have to go back to therapy" he said again. He turned and walked near the door.
"Papa," called Fleur slowly, but managed to leave Benjamin stunned and stop his steps. The copper-haired brunette man looked over. "Please don't throw grandma out of this house" said the little gray-eyed girl. "Let grandma stay here and keep me company" she asked.
Benjamin took a deep breath. He's too tired of everything. The princess looked at him for a moment. After that, his attention turned to Aamber who was still sitting on the floor with his face down. Pity began to seep into the heart of the owner of the luxury hotel. Benjamin turned his gaze back to Fleur. "Alright," he replied, "I'll give him one more chance. However, if he's still trying to poison your mind, then don't expect that there will be a miracle that can save him" Benjamin continued half-threatening.
Hearing the words from Benjamin, Aamber immediately raised his face. He stared fixedly at the man who used to love Samantha very much, his daughter. The happy hue and relief were also painted very clearly. Aamber could even now sing a single smile on his lips. "Thank you, Ben. Thank you" he said sincerely. However, Benjamin did not respond to the gratitude the middle-aged woman said. He looked over for a moment, then walked out of the room.
"Wherever you want to go, I'll be with you, baby," Aamber said with a lot of money. "I'm happy to hear you call me Grandma. I'm sorry for ignoring you all along. I didn't mean to do that at all" Aamber later regretted.
"Then accompany me right now" Fleur pinta without responding to Aamber's apology. The middle-aged woman immediately nodded. He stood up and moved to the back of the wheelchair. After which, Aamber pushed him slowly out of the room. Without saying goodbye to Benjamin who was out of nowhere, they both went to therapy with a driver. However, in the middle of the trip Fleur suddenly requested that the driver take him to another place, the Hilaire family residence.
"Are you sure, Fleur?" aamber asked after the car they were riding in stopped in front of Edgar's luxurious residence.
"Yes, Grandma," Fleur replied confidently. "Please help me get down" he asked.
Without much protest, Aamber immediately complied with the request of the grandson. With the help of the driver, he placed Fleur on his wheelchair. After that, he asked permission to enter a guard who was in the front post. After that, Aamber then pushed the wheelchair Fleur occupied into the courtyard. For a moment he was so amazed by the luxury of the Hilaire family residence. The middle-aged woman was stunned for a moment as she faced a row of steps to get to the terrace.
"Is there anything I can help you with?" asked a young man who was none other than Darren. He emerged from another part of the house.
Aamber immediately turned his head and smiled. "We wanted to meet Mr. Hillaire, but I was at a loss how to bring my granddaughter to the door. The stairs are too many" Aamber said.
"Oh. Let me help you," without hesitation, Darren immediately carried Fleur's body to the terrace.
