...Happy Reading's!...

My heart has completely melted. Confidently yet still self-aware, I stood before Om Mandala, Aunt Widia, Grandma, and father Kenneth's mother. It's not that I'm not being polite by not greeting them one by one. However, of course it will make me humiliated because of their rejection that I can be sure happens if I force. So just by bowing my head and smiling thinly, I give my respect to all of them.

"Reiki?"

Grandma widened her eyes looking at the granddaughter and I took turns. His shock cannot be hidden. I sanctioned that the woman was about to cover up her upset. Because the battle is about to begin.

"Happy birthday, Grandma" Reiki said in a soft but firm voice.

"Why are you guys coming? I never invited you guys." this time the woman looked at me hatefully. Of course it's nothing to me anymore.

"Mom," Om Mandala touched her mother's back, intending to assuage the woman's anger. Because the tone of the grandma voice was indeed high, and it definitely made the attention of everyone in this room turn to us.

Silent. Everyone watched how we, the main character, were doing the drama of life.

"I invited Reiki."

It's clear that Om Mandala is lying right now. Reiki brought me here on the initiative of his own mind, who had deliberately come over uninvited. In addition, there are things that Reiki must inform his entire family.

Why does Om Mandala lie? What happened that he defended Reiki?

Somehow I glanced at Helena who was standing near her mother, Aunt Widia. And the woman gave me a blink of an eye.

Is it possible that Om Mandala's attitude now is because of Helena? Could be. What I heard from Reiki some time ago is that she was upset with Helena who kept persuading their parents to send Reiki home.

Grandma turned her head sharply to her son. Highlight the eyes do not like to be given by slowly pushing from his lips. "Mandala."

The little smiling Mandala intended to ease her mother's anger. "Aren't we supposed to be all together for Mom's birthday?" ask the son gently.

"But you should understand, man,"

"Here you go, Mom." Om Mandala again calms the mother gently. "It's okay."

"No need" said the grandmother. His eyes are no longer looking at us. The middle-aged woman raised her chin high in agitation. "I don't need your gift."

Reiki then took a few steps forward after letting go of his hand grip on me. He also briefly kissed my hand for a moment. Then the man crouched down in front of the grandmother whose position was occupying a chair.

"Grandma" Reiki began. His hand reached for Fatma's one-handed fingers which the middle-aged woman had initially kept rejecting. But with a little persistence Reiki, he finally managed to prevent the fingers of the grandmother to escape from it. "I'm sorry for all my bad behavior since I was a child to this day. I understand how Grandma, Mama Papa, and you all want the best for me. But it's certain that my life is my business. I know what is best for me or not. Because I'm the one who's gonna live whatever life is."

Grandma was still with her silence. Silence means not accepting any explanation of the grandson. Once the woman decides not to like it, it will be like that forever.

"Position and possessions do not guarantee happiness, Grandma," Reiki continued. "I've tried as grandma would. I'm trying to accept whoever the grandma's choice is. But," he touched his chest with one of his other hands. "My heart is unhappy. For the affairs of the heart cannot be forced. I and my heart want another, which is definitely happy. So how do you parents not think about whether your grandchildren are happy or not?"

"It doesn't mean it's him, Rei," Fatma said. "If you want to be happy, then we want to be happy too. Can you be happy when we are not?"

"What about the other way around, Grandma? Do Grandma and Mama Papa want to be happy even though I'm broken?"

The middle-aged woman's gaze seemed to flinch while looking at her grandson.

"Like you parents who have been fighting for your happiness, as a grown man I am doing the same. I will fight to build my happiness. With whom I want, without me diminishing my respect for you. I promise."

"Ray ...,"

"Grandmas. Today is my last greeting. I will stay away from your lives if my existence with Azzura is a mistake for you. After this there will be no more things about me that will embarrass you. I'll stay away, with no news let alone come back .. But I'll come back when you've all accepted me and my life partner."

"Where can that be, Rei?" widia exclaimed as she wiped her melted tears without being able to prevent it. The position beside the Mandala has not changed. Her hands hugged her and voiced bitterly, "You don't want to hear Mama's opinion, huh? The mother who gave birth to you. Mama will listen to you. Don't you intend to get my blessing from Mama?"

Reiki looked at her mother. I hurriedly rubbed my tears that also flowed because I saw how painful the gaze of Aunt Widia to her son. When this happened, my heart suddenly broke again. How can I watch Reiki hurt her mother's heart for me?

What do I have to do now? Do I have to step back after I have gone far? Or should I step up and hurt a mother?
