Once upon a time, a just and wise king reigned in a kingdom on the island of Java.
The king got the magic whisper from the gods, that in all the territory of the kingdom he led will be hit by a plague.
The god gave a whisper that the king should make a contest to all the people to look for golden oranges as a pestilence-repellent.
The king then announced a competition to all corners of the kingdom regarding the search for the gold fruit.
Anyone who can find the golden orange fruit then, the king will give him a lot of gifts.
People all over the kingdom became excited with the competition.
They felt interested in following the competition because they were promised to get a gift from the king.
However, people also feel confused about where to look for the golden orange fruit.
Is Pak Sikir, a person who claimed to have the magic and was able to get the golden orange fruit.
Sir Sakir also faced the king.
After receiving his blessing, he then went to look for golden citrus fruits.
Because of his power, without a long time Sirikir managed to get the golden orange fruit.
The fruit he put in a large basket that he brought.
Mr. Sikir was very happy to think about the gifts he would receive from the king.
On the way to the palace of the king, Pak Sikir met an old man.
“What do You carry in your basket?” ask the old man.
“Oh, this is just sand.” replied Sir Sikir lying.
“Oh so.” said the old man while nodding his head. “Good. Continue your journey.” said the old man again.
Upon arrival at the king's palace, Pak Sikir also faced the king to hand over the golden citrus fruit that he got.
But how surprised Mr. Sakir, because in his big basket there is only sand.
The king was very angry because he felt lied to Mr. Sikir.
He went looking and managed to get a golden orange.
On the way home, he met an old man who asked him what he was carrying.
He lied, like Sir Sakir, by saying that all he carried were bricks.
Miraculously, the golden orange he carried was turned into bricks.
Again the king was angered by his failure to get the golden orange.
Then another man came to get a golden orange and he managed to get it, but he admitted to the old man that he brought pebbles, then the golden orange turned into pebbles.
This incident continues to happen over and over again.
The king felt desperate and thought that none of his people could get the golden orange.
Then came a mermaid named Ki Jaka Meleng, the son of mbok randa Meleng facing the king to convey his grace to get a golden orange.
The king who had felt broken charcoal did not believe him.
But the mermaid still forced the king to bless her in search of golden oranges.
The king finally granted it on condition that if he failed to get the golden orange, then his head would be beheaded.
The buyung agreed.
Ki Jaka then went in search of the golden orange and finally managed to get it.
On the way, an old man asked what he was carrying.
Ki Jaka answered honestly that what he brought was a golden orange requested by the king.
Old Man nods his head and says “Be careful son, just in case the fruit was stolen man”.
Upon his arrival in the kingdom, Ki Jaka handed the golden orange fruit to the king.
Of course the king was happy that the mermaid had succeeded in his duty to save the kingdom from the plague.
The king finally fulfilled his promise by giving gifts, even giving the position of regent to Ki Jaka.
