Princess Tadampalik

In the past, there was a country called Luwu, which is located on the island of Sulawesi. Luwu was ruled by a king named La Busatana Datu Maongge, often called King or Datu Luwu. Because his attitude is fair, wise and wise, then his people live prosperously. Most of the work of the Luwu people was farmers and fishermen. Datu Luwu has a very beautiful daughter, her name is Princess Tandampalik. Her beauty and behavior are known to many. Including among them the Bone King who lived very far from Luwu.

King Bone wants to marry his son to Princess Tandampalik. He sent some of his envoys to meet Datu Luwu to propose to Princess Tandampalik. Datu Luwu became worried, because in custom, a Luwu girl was not allowed to marry a young man from another country. However, if the proposal is rejected, he fears war will ensue and will make the people suffer. Despite the weight of the consequences to be received, Datu Lawu decided to accept the proposal. “Let me be cursed as long as my people do not suffer,” thought Datu Luwu.

A few days later the King of Bone's envoys arrived in Luwu. They are very polite and friendly. There was no accompaniment of troops or war fleets at the port, as Datu Luwu had predicted. Datu Luwu received the envoy in a friendly manner. When they expressed the intention of his arrival, Datu Luwu had not been able to give an answer to accept or reject the proposal. The King Bone Envoy understood and understood Datu Luwu's decision. They also returned to their country.

The next day, there was a commotion in Luwu. Princess Tandampalik fell ill. His entire body released a thick liquid that smelled of rancid and was extremely disgusting. The court physicians said Princess Tandampalik was stricken with a dangerous infectious disease. News quickly spread. The people of Luwu are overwhelmed with sadness. Their revered Datu Luwu and their beloved Princess Tandampalik are in for a disaster. After thinking and weighing, Datu Luwu decided to isolate his son. Because many people will be infected if Princess Tandampalik is not exiled to other regions. The decision was chosen by Datu Luwu with a heavy heart. Princess Tandampalik was not discouraged or angry at her father. Then he left by boat with some of his loyal guards. Before leaving, Datu Luwu gave a keris to Princess Tandampalik, as a sign that he never forgot let alone throw away his son.

After months of aimless sailing, they finally found an island. The island is cool with trees that thrive. A bodyguard found the Wajao fruit the first time he set foot on the spot. “This island I give the name of Wajo Island,” said Putri Tandampalik. From then on, Princess Tandampalik and her followers began a new life. They start with all simplicity. They continue to work hard, full of passion and joy.

One day Princess Tandampalik was sitting by the lake. Suddenly a white buffalo approached him. The buffalo licked it gently. Originally, Princess Tandampalik was about to expel her. But, the animal looked tame and continued to lick it. Finally he just shut it down. It's magical! After being licked many times, the watery wound on the body of Princess Tandampalik disappeared without a trace. His skin was smooth and clean as before. Princess Tandampalik was moved and grateful to God, her illness has been cured. “Since this time I ask you not to slaughter or eat buffalo bule, because this animal has made me recover,” Princess Tandampalik told her guards. The request of Princess Tandampalik was immediately fulfilled by everyone on Wajo Island until now. Bulls located on Wajo Island are allowed to live freely and breed.

Meanwhile, far away in Bone, the Crown Prince of Bone Kingdom was engrossed in hunting. He was accompanied by Anre Pguru Pakanranyeng the Commander of the Bone Kingdom and some of his guards. So engrossed in hunting, the Crown Prince did not realize that he was separated from the entourage and lost in the forest. The night was getting late, the Crown Prince was unable to close his eyes. The sounds of the night animals kept him awake and agitated. In the distance, he saw a beam of light. He ventured to find out where the light came from. It turned out that the light came from a village that was very far away. Arriving there, the Crown Prince entered a house that looked empty. How surprised he was when he saw a beautiful girl was attacking water in the house. The beautiful girl was none other than Princess Tandampalik.

“Could there be an angel in a foreign place like this ?” thought the Crown Prince. Feeling that someone was watching, Princess Tandampalik turned his head. The Princess stuttered,” it feels like he is the young man in my dream,” thought. Then they both got acquainted. In a short time, the two were already familiar. Princess Tandampalik felt that the young man who was now in front of her was a delicate young man. Although he was a future king, he was very polite and humble. On the contrary, to the Crown Prince, Princess Tandampalik was a graceful but not arrogant girl. Her simple beauty and appearance made the Crown Prince amazed and slim put on a heart.

After several days of living in the village, the Crown Prince returned to his country due to the many obligations that had to be completed in the Bone Palace. Since parting ways with Princess Tandampalik, the Prince's memory has always been on that beautiful face. It feels like the Crown Prince lives on Wajo Island. Anre Guru Pakanyareng, the Warlord of the Bone Kingdom who accompanied the Crown Prince on the hunt, knew what his son felt. Anre Guru Pakanyareng often saw the Crown Prince sitting for a long time on the edge of the lake. So Anre Guru Pakanyareng immediately faced King Bone and told him all the events they experienced on the island of Wajo. “Hamba proposes that Paduka immediately propose to Princess Tandampalik,” said Anre Guru Pakanyareng. King Bone agreed and immediately sent an envoy to propose Princess Tandampalik.

When King Bone's envoy arrived at Wajo Island, Princess Tandampalik did not directly accept the Crown Prince's proposal. He only gave the Luwu Kingdom heirloom that his father gave him when he was exiled. Princess Tandampalik said if the keris was well received by Datu Luwu means the betrothed was accepted. The Crown Prince immediately left for Luwu Kingdom alone. The days-long journey was undertaken by the Crown Prince with great zeal. After arriving in Luwu Kingdom, the Crown Prince recounted his meeting with Princess Tandampalik and handed the heirloom dagger to Datu Luwu.

Datu Luwu and the empress were overjoyed to hear the good news. Datu Luwu felt the Crown Prince was a persistent young man, soft-spoken, polite and full of spirit.

So he accepted the heirloom with sincerity. Without waiting for long, Datu Luwu and the empress came to visit Wajo Island to meet her son. The meeting of Datu Luwu and his beloved only child was very moving. Datu Luwu felt guilty for alienating his son. But on the contrary, Princess Tandampalik was grateful because the people of Luwu were spared from the infectious disease she suffered. Finally Princess Tandampalik married Crown Prince Bone and took place on Wajo Island. A few years later, the Crown Prince ascended the throne. He became a wise and wise king.
