Don't Want to Split
Chapter 43 - Farewell Party

Farewell Party

Dinner was held in the spacious main dining room, where Ezra used to invite business associates or other important people. Louise and Zefanya's friends have gathered there. They seem to enjoy the show. Laughing, telling stories, chiming in and mocking each other like good friends. The past begins to be linked to the present. The conversation just flowed so fast that they started talking about the host and their children.

Louise laughs loosely with her same close friends - equally interested in Ezra in their teenage years. Shamelessly they talked about their silliness in the past.

"But it's clear Zefanya is the most crazy about Ezra" said a beautiful woman with bright brown hair named Amanda.

"You're right. Every time he met, he had no other topic than Ezra." said another friend who had shoulder-length hair.

Louise patted the woman on the shoulder and gave her a glass of drink. "Do you know, Mandy? My sister always carries a picture of Ezra wherever she goes." Louise said.

Zefanya rolled her eyes annoyed, her brother must be drunk to reveal all his secrets. This secret was only known to the two of them.

"Do you know the prayer Zie says every time she has a birthday?" ask Louise to Ezra.

He pulled Ezra's head closer to him and whispered. "She always prayed that she could be Mrs Halley and stay in the mansion with you forever. Even more crazy, the idea is to have four boys whose faces look like yours."

Louise whispers softly but can be heard clearly by people around them to all laugh. Laughter that managed to make Zefanya's face reddened to the ears. Embarrassed.

"Twin two is a good sign that your wish will come true, Zie." Mandy chimed in while glancing towards Ezra. The joke was met with a crisp laugh of Zefanya's other friends.

The lively atmosphere actually made Zefanya feel depressed. No one knew that his feelings for Ezra had to end by force. While before him Ezra stared deeply - in his wife. He never planned to corner his wife but undeniably enjoyed every word Louise said.

'Everyone, including me, knows how you were crazy about me. How could I let you make the wrong decision, Ma Moitie?'

The expression of Ezra's heart is like penetrating the inner Zephaniah. The woman lowered her head, not daring to return Ezra's sharp gaze. His feelings are really messed up. Zefanya feel dite-lan-ja-ngi, embarrassed, sad mixed with frustration. No one understood his position, everyone cornered him. His close friends include Louise even brightly - blatantly envying him for winning Ezra's heart.

The spacious room felt crowded to Zefanya, it felt like breathing was difficult. Unable to bear the pain that was raining down on his mind, Zefanya stood up.

"I'm sorry I had to leave you guys for a while. I want to go to the toilet." he muttered as he directly left the room without waiting for their response.

Zefanya go straight to the nursery to calm the heart and see their condition. In the room, Louisa was crying with a red face. The zefanya touched her forehead and felt warm. Again Zefanya exhaled a sigh of relief mixed with guilt.

Now it's Louisa's turn to get a fever, but she instead gets excited about finding an excuse not to go back to the dinner. Zephaniah. At that moment, Zefanya decided to stay and take care of her daughter.

Ezra appeared shortly. He approached Zefanya with wide steps and a dark countenance.

"What are you doing here, Zefanya Halley?" snarl.

Nyali Zefanya. Ezra called him by his full name was a sign that the man was angry and this time his tone sounded like a roaring lion. The first time in life, Zefanya heard Ezra say in a harsh tone. Sensing the aura of her father's anger, Louisa clasped tightly onto the top of the dress worn by Zefanya.

Indeed, Louisa's face was slightly reddened but Zefanya thought her daughter's cheeks were reddened by the cold air on the edge of the lake.

Ezra pressed his hand against Louisa's forehead, his expression still flat. The signs of his anger have not yet subsided.

"Yes, God! Her body temperature is hot."

The angry expression that was drawn on Ezra's face instantly turned into anxious mixed with annoyance. It is clear that Ezra regrets the current situation. He had to design a dinner for Zefanya, but the hostess had disappeared. To force her to remain present was clearly impossible, Ezra could not have the heart to separate Louisa from her Mother. Her daughter has a fever and needs Zefanya.

"I'll keep Louisa here. Can you accompany them in my place? Please convey my apology to them." Pinta Zefanya slow, her voice felt like she was squeaking.

The atmosphere of the room was gripping, not because Louisa had a fever but the rest of Ezra's anger that still emanated from every movement of his body.

"Do you think I have another choice?" hiss Ezra suppressed the bubbling emotions, then he brought his face closer to Zefanya's face. "And, you know exactly how to take advantage of a situation like this."

"Bu-no... It's not like that... "

"No need to deny. I know you well. And I also observed your movements, none of which escaped my observation, Zie." cut Ezra fast. His voice sounded so disappointed.

"I'm not making it - there is. Louisa's sick. Didn't you see it for yourself?"

"He's sick, that's right. But that's not the real reason why you're in this room" Ezra said.

Zefanya. He understood how Ezra was feeling right now.

"Please, Ez. Can we talk about this later? Louisa needs to be dealt with."

Ezra clenched both his hands tightly while taking the swearing in his heart. Never had he felt so angry and hurt towards Zefanya as he felt right now.

"When are you going to act like this?"

"Ezra, please... "

Ezra raised his hand, telling Zefanya to stop talking.

"Listen to me, Zefanya Halley! You can't use your kids forever as an excuse to avoid me. If I've been quiet all this time, it doesn't mean I don't know all your actions. I know, I know pretty well what's in your head. The only reason I shut up and give up is that I love you and don't want to make you depressed."

Ezra paused for a moment and scanned Zefanya from head to toe. That loving gaze was now turned into embers of fire that were ready to devour whatever was before him.

"Remember! Tonight's not over, Zefanya Halley!"
