Don't Want to Split

Don't Want to Split
Chapter 24 - Just Tell Him

Zefanya stared blankly at doctor Sandra, her hands feeling cold. Just imagine he never, let alone frankly there is Ezra about the real reality. This is a very painful reality.

"There's no way I'm telling Ezra" Zefanya exclaimed after a moment of silence. He shook his head strongly as if he was looking at something frightening.

"Mr Ezra deserves to know, Madam. Don't you know what it's like to ask questions every day? And this has been going on since you disappeared after the honeymoon." Doctor Sandra tried to convince her patients.

"God! But his heart would be broken when he knew the truth. His whole world is going to collapse!" Zefanya.

"Life of Mr. Ezra has been ruined since you left him. Everything has been a mess since that day. Have you forgotten that you and your children are everything to Mr Ezra?"

Zefanya.

"Please, don't talk like that."

Guilt began to creep into his heart, but Zefanya had to keep trying to hold on to her logic. "A lot of divorced people are out there and everything is fine. There are even many who have a better life when divorced."

"Not if it's like you" asserted Dr. Sandra. "How can you think your husband will be okay while his love for you is so deep?"

Unable to listen further, Zefanya continued to refute the words of her doctor.

"So soon, Ezra will forget me and one day he will find a new love and be happy" he said.

Inside his head was a reflection of how Ezra treated his future partner with the same incredible love that Ezra had treated him. It was so painful to hope that her husband would not fall in love with the wrong woman.

"Mr Ezra deserves to know, Madam." Doctor Sandra kept trying to persuade Zefanya. "You can't hide it. Look at! What happens when Mr Benjamin and your mother hide this fact? If only they told the truth from the beginning of course you will not have fallen in love so deeply. Why wait for something bad to happen and confess?"

"Oh! Maybe this is why I've experienced some period of not coming to visit this mansion." Zefanya patted her eel, like she had just remembered something. He didn't even comment on Dr. Sandra's words. His mind had returned to the past where he was still a teenager.

"Father!"

Mr. Frederick jumped in shock at the greeting of his son. Zefanya sat on the sofa while looking at her father with a pleading gaze. He glanced at the old bell clock that could ring at any time. Apparently it was ten o'clock in the evening, he fell asleep while waiting for his father to come home from work.

His father frowned. "What are you doing here? It's time you went into the room!" ask Mr. Frederick in curiosity. Not usually this little princess waited for him in the TV room until late. It seemed like there was something Zefanya wanted to convey to him.

"I'm waiting for you, Papa."

"For what?"

"I want to talk."

"What?"

"A visit to the halley family mansion this year."

Mr. Halley walked towards the fridge, looking for food to eat. His stomach felt hungry after working hard all day until Zefanya's voice felt like a hum in his ears.

"What's there for? You have been there many times. Later in college you will also live in London."

"But I want to be with Louise there, Papa. I'm gonna be lonely here." Zefanya tried to reason. He didn't want his papa to know that the real reason was Ezra. It is this visit that is always awaited by him every year.

Frederick bit the big chocolate and chewed it, after which he shook his head. "Here and there are the same. I will have Alice come to accompany you here." said the sixteen-year-old Papa casually.

"Father!" zefanya sulks while stomping her feet. The girl was indeed a little stubborn for being too pampered by Frederick. Tears have begun to spread, usually Frederick will immediately melt.

"Sweetheart, Papa won't change Papa's decision. Now go to the room and sleep!" frederick said again softly but firmly. He had to leave immediately before the girl managed to melt his heart.

Zefanya stared sadly at her Papa who left her towards the room. Sia - Sia has her efforts waiting.

"Tell me about the moment you stopped meeting the prince of your dreams. All this time we haven't talked about it because you haven't been able to remember it." asked Dr. Sandra as she patted Zefanya's shoulder gently to restore her from daydreaming.

Zefanya turned and was silent for a moment. His doctor nodded while commenting on a sympathetic smile. After that Zefanya told the contents of her daydream, how her brother Louise still went to the Mansion without her even had time to stay for some time. But, Zefanya was never again invited.

Zefanya's feelings fell apart again as she recalled how she had to resist the urge to meet with Ezra back then.

"From your story, I feel that your father loves you very much." Doctor Sandra expressed her heart after thinking for a moment.

"Louise and Ezra said I was his favorite daughter. Do you think Papa knows this secret?"

Doctor Sandra shrugged her shoulders. "If he finds out, do you think your father will remain your mother's husband until the end of their age?"

Zefanya rubbed her face with a puzzled expreai. "Only one thing is certain here, Papa loves all three of us. Mama, Louise and me."

"What did Ezra think when he found out you were no longer here?"

"When I think about it, Ezra thinks Papa won't let me come because of his disrespectful sister to me. His little brother keeps teasing me."

"Then how can your parents bless your marriage, especially your mother. If he knew you were Benjamin's son, why would he let it happen?"

"My parents died in a plane crash just as I graduated High School. Auntie Laura took Isabelle with her while Ezra picked me up for college in London."

"Then how did Mr. Benjamin react when Ezra brought you here? Did he reject you?"

"My father-in-law had started to get sick that time, and it seemed like he had not kissed our closeness. Uhm, and yes, he loves me too."

Doctor Sandra shook her head, "That's not it, I mean... " He paused for a moment and looked at Zefanya deeply. "If you were his real son, how could he have approved of both of you?" Ask Dr. Sandra still doesn't understand.

Zefanya stunned, her brain back to process memories - memories in her past.

"Maybe that's why we married quietly - quietly without the blessing of my father-in-law... That day we had a wedding without anyone's knowledge and went straight to the Maldives afterwards for the honeymoon."
