Chapters 77. Looking at Grandpa

After work, Nathan visits Grandpa at the hospital. With a sense of uncertainty, Nathan enters a VVIP room. There, Grandpa looked weak with an infusion hose on his wrist and an oxygen hose on his nose.

"Nathan you've come?" ask Thunder."Come closer, Grandpa wants to talk to you."

Nathan steps up to Grandpa Edward who starts to open his eyes after Nathan arrives. Nathan sat by Grandpa's bedside and Nathan held Grandpa's soft hand.

While Thunder came out of the room to give Grandpa and Nathan a chance to speak freely.

"Grandfather, how is Grandpa's condition. Sorry, Nathan didn't go see Grandpa. Nathan thought, Grandpa just pretended like Grandpa did when Nathan was about to marry Lilis" Nathan said sadly and regretfully.

"Grandfather is fine," said the weak grandfather.

"Grandfather, forgive Nathan," that's all that came out of Nathan's mouth because suddenly his tears were dripping.

"Nathan, Grandpa wants you back," said the frail Grandpa.

"Grandfather, don't talk too much. We'll talk about that later, when Grandpa's cured."

"You promised Grandpa to come back" Grandpa's voice grew weaker.

"Yes, Nathan promised. Grandpa don't think too much. Calm down Grandpa," Nathan replied in a panic.

"Grandfather was happy to hear it," said Grandfather then closed his eyes slowly.

Nathan endured his cries. He was very sad to see Grandpa's current condition. Nathan feels it's his fault, because despite knowing the truth, Nathan still doesn't want to go back to the Sugara family.

Flashback.

Desta whispered something into Nathan's ear in a weak voice.

"Nathan, I'm sorry. At the DNA test between you and Grandpa Edward, I swapped it. I traded your samples for someone else. Until the result is negative. I deliberately wanted to make you lose all of yours, including losing Grandpa. The one you've been in love with all this time" Desta paused for a moment.

"I want you to feel what it's like to lose the people you love and even lose treasure."

Nathan looked at Grandpa with a sad heart. Nathan is eager to say that Nathan is still Grandpa's old grandson. But Nathan still doesn't know how. It's impossible to force Grandpa to do another DNA test.

Hopefully one day, there's a way for Nathan to tell the truth. Because initially Nathan did not want to return to being Sugara's family after seeing Grandpa and Thunder was fine. His marriage relationship with Lilis, the more harmonious because Nathan became an ordinary man instead of a rich man.

"Dear, what do you mean? You guys are my family, how could I be more concerned with Grandpa than you. Grandpa is very important, but you are more important than anything. You're my life" Nathan said, emotionally as well.

"We can still live without you. But your grandfather didn't. His life is just counting time. You'll regret it if you can't make Grandpa happy at his age. We don't want to be a barrier between you and Grandpa."

"What do you mean, barrier? Who said that?"

"Mas, I want to have a happy family. But I do not want to live happily above the suffering of others. Divorce me" said Lilis quietly but left Nathan almost dead in shock.
