Chapter 44. Memories

Grandpa Edward was alone in his room. He saw a picture of his little family that now left only him and Nathan. On one side, there is a picture of him with his wife. On the other hand, there is a photo of Nathan's parents and little Nathan. His eyes glazed over at little Nathan. Photo taken when Nathan was born.

Samuel was the only son of Edward Sugara. Samuel has a lover without Grandpa Edward's knowledge. A beautiful girl who works as a waitress for a cafe that often visited Samuel Sugara. Samuel Sugara was a 4th semester student.

But when Samuel was about to leave, the mother suddenly fell ill and had to be taken to the hospital. Samuel decided to take his mother to the hospital and accompany her. Samuel hoped that Sofia would only joke with him so that Samuel would see him soon. Because after Samuel took care of his father's business, they rarely met.

His mother's illness worsened and before he died, he asked Samuel to marry his mother's chosen girl. The girl was named Ririn, the daughter of one of her mother's best friends. The girl who had been betrothed to Samuel since childhood.

Ririn is a graduate girl from abroad who works as a heart surgeon. Samuel could not refuse his mother's last request. But he also cannot leave Sofia. Samuel loved Sofia very much and wanted to marry her. Samuel's heart was in a dilemma.

After his mother's funeral, Samuel wants to meet Sofia and try to explain his current problem. Hope Sofia understands if she chooses to marry the girl of her mother's choice. Because that was the last message from her mother.

Arriving at Sofia's boarding house, it turns out Sofia no longer lives there. And the check and the letter that Sofia left behind was taken by her boarding mother according to Sofia's message. Samuel receives Sofia's last check and letter. His eyes glazed over the two items. His heart was filled with deep regret. Because she thought Sofia was just joking around at the time. She recalled the words of Sofia's boarding mother, if Sofia had long waited for her arrival, before finally deciding to leave.

Only that word came out of his mouth. Samuel opened a letter from Sofia that contained only a few lines of sentences.

"Dear Samuel, when you read this letter, I must have gone far. Live happily without me. Sorry, I have chosen this path for you. For your future.

I'm giving you back the check your father gave you. I love you not for your money. I'm going to take your love with me.

If you love me, never look for me.

Samuel shed tears, after reading the letter from Sofia. Samuel blames himself for being insensitive to the problems Sofia is facing. It must be that Sofia is currently very sad after receiving the cheque from her father. The check that finally makes Sofia leave him to prove her love.

At that time, Samuel seemed to lose his direction after being left by Sofia. Edward's grandfather was unable to get Samuel back up and working. Finally, Grandpa Edward pretended to be seriously ill. Only then could Samuel return to his father's business, even though his attitude turned cold.

Samuel is finally willing to accept his mother's last wish and marry Ririn.

A life of marriage without love, only limited to carrying out obligations as a husband and wife. That's what they were running at the time. Although they do not love each other, it is their sense of responsibility and mutual respect that makes their marriage last.

Two years later, little Nathan was born. Although the father, very cold to everyone including Ririn. Samuel loved Nathan very much. And since Nathan was around, Samuel began to smile even though he couldn't be wholehearted.

Unfortunately, Samuel and Doctor Ririn's relationship still remains the same, cold. Because until the end they had an accident 6 years ago, that love could not grow in Samuel's heart.
