Chapters 37. Towards marriage

After Isyak, Nathan comes to Lilis' house to pick them up. Lilis had prepared both her heart and mind to deal with what would happen later. Both the bad and the good.

Lilis had also prepared Naina well and looked beautiful. Naina is very happy, especially when Lilis says, Nathan's father will ask her to buy a doll. Naina is very excited and promises to obey Lilis.

After saying goodbye to Ms. Siti, the three of them immediately left for the hospital. Lilis is confused to have to sit in front of Nathan's company or behind Naina's company.

"Sit in the back, just accompany Naina," Nathan said.

"Dad, there's a doll in Dad's car. Whose doll?" ask Naina.

"Oh, yes. I forgot, this is Naina's doll. I forgot to give Naina."

"Ashik, Naina's doll."

"What did you say to me?" said Lilis.

"Thank you, Nathan's father" said Naina adorable.

"We're leaving now, so as not to overnight" Nathan said.

Nathan immediately started the engine of his car and drove quickly towards the hospital. They were in the hospital safely.

Nathan takes Lilis and Naina to see Grandpa. Before entering, Nathan knocked on the door first so as not to shock Grandpa.

"Come, Lis. We go in, don't be afraid, I'm always with you."

"Dad, who are we going to meet?" ask Naina.

"Grandfather daddy. Later Naina called Grandpa great-grandfather huh?"

"Grandfather Uyut." said Naina funny.

"Come..."

They enter and find Grandpa Edward pretending to be asleep. Although Nathan knows, Nathan follows Grandpa's game.

"Dad, Grandpa Uyut is asleep. Naina is also sleepy" Naina said as she yawned.

Naina was used to sleeping after Isyak, and was not used to staying up late.

"Naina's sleepy?" ask Nathan.

"How, Mas. Naina is already sleepy and she has to sleep now" Lilis said anxiously.

"Here, sleep on the couch. Lis, how about we stay at the hospital tonight?" ask Nathan.

For a moment, Lilis fell silent at Nathan's request.

"But, tomorrow Lilis's the day the stalls open. Afraid of disappointed customers" Lilis said, explaining the difficulty.

"Tomorrow, early in the morning, I'll take you and Naina home."

"Then, I'll tell mom first, so she doesn't worry about me and Naina."

"Naina here with me, let me ask grandma for permission."

Nathan whispered something to Naina. Naina smiled happily while nodding softly. After that he walked up to Grandpa Edward slowly.

Naina's tiny hands, touching Grandpa Edward's cheeks gently. Grandfather tried to refrain from waking up just because of the touch of a little girl.

"Grandfather, Grandpa Uyut. Naina can kiss Grandpa? If Grandpa Uyut is silent, then Grandpa does not mind" said Naina.

Grandpa Edward couldn't stand it anymore, when Naina actually kissed him on the cheek. Naina can kiss Grandpa because of Nathan's help by lifting up Naina's small body.

Grandpa's eyes were wide open. Her feelings are chaotic, between wanting to get angry and being happy to see a very cute Naina.

"Who are you?" asked Grandpa Edward expressionlessly.

"My name is Naina."

"Nathan's father was Naina's father."

"Nathan..."

"Grandfather, he's my son. Child Lilis. We're here to ask for Grandpa's blessing" Nathan said, holding Naina.

"Grandfather will allow if you can give Grandpa, cute great-grandchildren like Naina. Also a male heir to the Sugara family."

Without asking much, Nathan has had an answer to Grandpa's request.

"Well, Nathan accepted Grandpa's request" Nathan replied as he looked towards Lilis who had returned after contacting his mother.

Lilis looked shocked at Grandpa's request.

Chirp, cute? How much do you want Grandpa to be great-granddaughter? Do you think I'm a child production site?

Lilis gestured for Nathan to give an explanation. Nathan pretended not to see it.

"Naina wants to sleep next to Grandpa?" ask Grandpa.

"Tiger. It looks like the mattress is soft," Naina replied with a smile.

Nathan breaks down Naina's body next to Grandpa's. Naina smiled making Grandfather's heart melt. Naina is able to make Grandpa have affection for her.

Naina and Grandpa began to fall into a deep sleep. Meanwhile, Lilis and Nathan sleep on the sofa. Lilis could barely close her eyes as she still remembered the requirements from Grandpa. Nathan realized what Lilis was thinking.

"Lis, still can't sleep?"

"A little while."

"You don't have to think about what Grandpa said. The important thing is to get permission first, that's the important thing," Nathan said trying to make Lilis not burdened with Grandpa's request.

Lilis smiled, then fell asleep in her dreams. Nathan also falls asleep soon after seeing Lilis already asleep.

At dawn, Nathan and Lilis leave Grandpa and rush off to drive Naina and Lilis home to prepare for the sale this morning.

A week has passed, Nathan comes to see Lilis to give the news that, two more days is their wedding day. They will marry without a party, according to their agreement.

In exchange, Nathan will give Lilis a surprise after they get married.

In just two days, Lilis had to prepare everything for her marriage. A marriage that Lilis hoped would take away her trauma and bad memories of the married life she had been through.

When Desta hears of Lilis's wedding news, she comes back to Lilis to try to persuade Lilis not to give Naina a stepfather. Desta was not ashamed at all, finding Lilis in Lilis's crowded food stall.

"Lis, Naina still has a real father, why should you find her a stepfather?" desta asked while standing behind Lilis who was making the order.

"Mas Desta, I'm busy right now. Please, go. Don't let me shout that Mas Desta intends to disturb me," Lilis replied annoyedly.

"Let it be, I'm glad they caught us and married us now before you married that Nathan" said Desta.

"Bring us? Don't dream. When are you going to give up, Mom. Let us live in peace" Lilis said, suppressing her emotions.

"I won't give up, at least let him know me as his father instead of him. I gave you the seed why is he called father?"

"You always repeat the same thing. And my answer remains the same. So don't waste any more of your time. Find a job and live well" Lilis said with a sigh.

"You're getting brave and you're not afraid of me anymore. Is it because you have Nathan, the rich man? I'll definitely make Nathan pay for everything."

"You're wrong, why blame others you should not read from your attitude first. You deserve not to be loved. I have no regrets about ever loving you and marrying you. Because if it wasn't for you, I would never have gone to this town and found my fortune. If it wasn't for me choosing the wrong partner like you, I wouldn't have met Mas Nathan.

"So you're sorry?" ask Desta annoyed.

"Maybe yes, maybe not. Naina is proof of my love for you. But the love in my heart has been gone since you betrayed this love."

"Didn't Lilis tell you to leave?"

Nathan's voice surprises Lilis and Desta. Desta seemed annoyed at the feeling, Nathan was always there when he wanted to get close to Lilis. While Lilis looked anxious, because she was afraid that Nathan would misunderstand her and Desta.

Is Nathan going to consider me a cheap woman who's still willing to be talked to by an ex-husband? Especially after hearing what I said. The marriage is two days away.
