After spending happy days with Devan yesterday, today he no longer comes to my class at the break let alone pick me up this morning. Her toothache is back. Huft, I got out of my chair and walked to his class to satisfy my curious desire for where that person had gone. Btw, my phone died because I forgot to charge it last night.
I didn't see the nose of the man I was looking for out of the window. After knocking on the door and getting everyone's attention in the classroom to me, I stepped my foot into the classroom, approaching Gergia who was talking to her friend.
"Where's Devan, Gi?" my many.
"Why don't you just ask your girlfriend?" gergia judes.
Did Gergia also change strangely? Is there a virus that spreads and infects Devan first then Gergia? Did the virus turn the host's body weird? Ah, somehow. But what if it's true?
"There's a chance that Brother Rega knows where Devan is" I said.
"Then why are you asking me this? CK." Gergia rolled her eyeballs, like she was lazy to face me at this moment.
"You're his classmate, aren't you?" ask again.
"Want to?"
"Wait, you're not the Gergia I know. Are you okay?”
"Not to be your ass." Gergia pushed one shoulder. "Yes, I've been acting like this in front of Devan, and do you think I really gave up on taking Devan away from you? Didn't he? Don't dream, soon Devan will belong to me." He laughs, though it does not resemble the laughter of evil cartoons.
"That means the one in the cafe is just a skit you doang?" I slow down while thinking. Huaaa, this story begins to lead to soap opera drama.
"Nah understand." Gergia folded her hands in front of her chest.
"But why are you doing this, Gergia?"
Gergia did not reply, but rather pulled my hand into the backyard of the school, it seemed that she did not want to attract the attention of many people. And right, it's just the two of us here. The sound of the leaves falling because the wind was starting to sound gripping to me at this time.
"I'll explain to you, Pricilia Adel. So, the reason I moved to this school is because I just found out that Devan is here, and the bad fact is, you guys stick together." Gergia was silent for a moment, maybe his brain was fighting to compose a sentence. "Well, well, I got some good news again, Devan was my classmate. Everything was fine on my first day with him, but Devan started to worry about you tomorrow,” he continued but tried to avoid my gaze.
"But aren't you."
"Don't cut my talk." He rolled his eyeballs again. But didn't he cut my words? Okay, I need to shut up and listen and give up.
"Sorry," lirihku.
"And do you know how happy I was when I received a message from Devan who took me to the cafe that day via chat? I just got home. When I saw the chat I immediately otw. I thought I'd spend my afternoon with Devan, on a romantic date while enjoying the clear sky, but it's not really." Gergia's voice intonation turned rougher and also rose. "I really hate you, Adel,” he continued staring at my bead, so sharp that it made me accidentally step back.
"Hi, are you asking innocently? It's your fault because Devan likes you."
"Wait, wait, wait, what's wrong if he likes me. He's my best friend" I replied.
"Rub, Adel. You are big but your thinking is still narrow. You're very different from Adel in class" Gergia kept quiet, as well as me trying to digest her words.
"Look it up, Del. You're not sensitive." He breathed rough. "Seeing from the way Devan looks at you, how he cares, and also the attention he keeps giving you, does that not explain everything enough?"
"Explain what?" my many. I really don't understand any of this.
"ADEL" Gergia said my name with great emphasis on each of her letters while sighing harshly, she seemed to be really mad at me. "Devan loved the same lo, liked it as you said it to him in the garden that day. I was there, looking at you two. Watch how a single tear came down from her eye when you came home that day. And to be honest, that's the main reason I moved here, to take Devan again when your relationship would be strained."
Gergia walked over and sat down on a wooden board, starting to tell a story in a soft voice. "When I got into this school, I wondered why you were so close to another man. Are you marahan? I had thought that distance was really created between you because of that day. I also asked Devan who the man you were with was. And you know what the answer is? 'His girlfriend' That's just one word he said with a flat face."
"Don't I ever tell you, Del, when we were SD." Gergia's intonation turned so soft from before, like a grandmother telling her granddaughter. "I stopped to chase Devan. And what I'm saying is that I really did until I saw you in the park. And my obsession only grew when I found out you had a boyfriend. I still love Devan and I let him be with you back then. But look what you're doing?" He pointed at me and looked at me with a sharp look, his voice rising again.
The doorbell rang but Gergia was still in place, not moving and not talking, and neither did I, standing there still wanting to hear all the explanations about Devan.
"Is this my fault? I've shot him first" I asked to begin to reopen the silence.
"Adel, Adel, your second mistake is that you never understand what feelings are. I feel sorry for your boyfriend. You made it look like an impingement because you rejected Devan." Gergia got up from her seat and walked beside me. I held his hand, made him stop his steps and turn his head towards me.
"I have one question" I said. "Why did Devan reject me?"
Gergia breathed a rough sigh. "Didn't Devan tell you himself? He doesn't want to ruin your friendship. And as far as I can tell, Devan prefers to harbor her feelings and remain your best friend so she doesn't lose you." Gergia took my hand and left me.
I ran to class, knocking on my classroom door while Mr. Heri was teaching. "Sorry, sir. I'm late." The good Mr. Heri immediately told me to sit down without asking further. Instead of paying attention to Mr. Heri's explanation, my mind is still trying to really digest Gergia's words earlier. I'm sorry for not listening, sir.
The bell rings. I immediately ran towards the deserted school gate, waiting for a taxi to pass in front of me. I'm going to Devan's house, demanding every explanation of what I don't understand from Gergia's words.
"Adel, you haven't come home yet? Wanna come home with me?" asked Kak Rega with a thin smile that was suddenly in front of me.
"I'm going to Devan's house, brother. Brother go home first" I replied.
"Alright, oh yes, keep the spirit, baby," he said and drove his car.
The spirit? Wh-wh-what for? Huaaa, I'm late to ask my girlfriend that. Never mind, there's more to my business for now.
