The Casa Del Castaneda

The Casa Del Castaneda
Second Chance

A few moments have passed. Paloma came out of the treatment room with a grim face, even as Rogelio approached her. “How, Son? How is Rafael?” ask the middle-aged man.

“Rafael has not been able to communicate well. His condition is very concerning,” Paloma replied lethargic. He was sitting in the waiting chair, not far from Sebastian. Meanwhile, Rogelio who was curious, went straight into the nursery of his adopted son and his new son-in-law. I don't know what that guy was doing in there.

Outside the room, Sebastian moved to a seat near Paloma that did not talk much. He felt that something was making him feel uneasy. However, the landlord of the Porcuna tried to dismiss it. He tried to look ordinary in the presence of the idol. “Are you okay?” tanyakanya.

“No, Sebastian,” Paloma replied slowly.

“Actually, what do you want? I feel your attitude is very strange. Either this is just my mind or ..”

“I feel sorry to see the condition of Rafael,” between Paloma without changing its intonation.

“Then?” ask Sebastian.

“Come, Sebastian. The doctor suggested that I treat and accompany Rafael in his healing process.”

Sebastian breathed a heavy breath. He leaned forward, then scooped his face rough. It is clear that the thirty-seven-year-old man feels so burdened, for a love story that is not as smooth as his wish.

The wealthy widower was willing to wait for Paloma to undergo a trial period, until he was divorced with Rafael. However, after seeing Paloma's attitude that seemed unstable and not infrequently cornered him, making Sebastian into doubt. He was so eager to express all feelings, as well as the emotions that stuck in his heart. However, he realized that this was not the right time.

“Go home, Sebastian. Just go back to Porcuna,” said Paloma after silence ruled the two. “I don't know what to do. My mind is not upset at this time.”

“You want me to leave you?” Sebastian straightened up, then looked at the beautiful hazel-eyed woman who had managed to steal his heart. “You want me to go?” ask the man again.

Sebastian's tone implied a deep sense of disappointment. Moreover, because Paloma did not answer. The short-haired woman did not even look at all. Such attitude, made a sense of disappointment in the heart of Sebastian increasingly become.

Without much to say, the owner of the largest plantation in Porcuna moved from his seat. He turned around, then stepped away leaving Paloma who was still pensive alone.

“Sebastian,” sigh Paloma shrivel. She's looking. Paloma noticed the steadfast steps of the man who had given her new hope. However, all of that must be extinct, because it is hindered by the status that makes him feel worried.

A speck of tears trickled down the corner of Paloma's lips, when the firm figure was no longer visible from his sight. There was a pain that greeted the corner of the woman's heart. He realizes that he has let down a special man, who offers him love and a better life.

However, Paloma also could not bear to give uncertain hope to Sebastian. For him, being disappointed at the beginning would be much better, than enduring the pain after a hopeful wait.

As much as possible, Paloma refrained from crying there. Moreover, after he saw Rogelio coming out of the treatment room Rafael. The middle-aged man sat next to Paloma, exhaling heavily a few times.

“I will ask permission from the team of doctors, in order to move Rafael to Mexico. We will continue the treatment there. I don't care what the cost is, as long as we get back to Mexico. To be honest, I don't like this country.” Rogelio stood up again after saying so. Without waiting for a response from Paloma, he passed leaving his daughter pensive again.

Rogelio immediately coordinated with the hospital, in order to move Rafael to Mexico in the near future. As he said earlier, he was willing to bear any costs in order to return to the country as soon as possible.

Doctors and the hospital approved Rogelio's application. However, with a record of waiting until Rafael's condition is slightly more stable, because the man was just awake. Rogelio was willing to wait, for a few more days. In that time span, Rafael's condition was stable. He has begun to communicate, although not as usual.

“Spend your food,” said Rogelio, when he saw Rafael who was being fed by Paloma.

Rafael smile. Every now and then, he grimaced a little. “I want to get well soon, Father,” he said in response to the words of his adoptive father and father-in-law.

“Of course you should recover soon, son. You definitely don't want to linger looking pathetic like this, do you?” canda Rogelio gives a little entertainment to her son.

Paloma doesn't talk much. He put an empty bowl on the table. After giving Rafael a drink, the woman went to the bathroom. He had unknowingly left his cell phone in Rafael's care bed.

“Good. I'll find a cup of coffee first. Don'worry. There's Paloma accompanying you.” Rogelio came out of the treatment room.

While waiting for Paloma who was in the bathroom, Rafael tried to sleep. However, just as he was about to close his eyes, the ringing sound of Paloma's cell phone kept him back awake.

Rafael, who was still lying stiff, felt down at the edge of the bed. He intended to take the phone and check the caller's name. However, he still had trouble raising his hand. Unintentionally, he touched the green icon, so the call was in a missed position. As a result, the sound stopped.

Rafael thinks that the caller is no longer in touch. Especially since Paloma has returned. Seeing the fresh face of the wife who had finished bathing, Rafael forgot on the phone call earlier. He smiled, then said, “You look so fresh. I also want to take a shower. However, somehow in this condition,” said the man.

“I will help you if the doctor has allowed,” reply Paloma responded.

“Really?” rafael asked in disbelief.

“Yes, of course. You are still my husband. It is the duty of a wife to take care of her husband,” replied Paloma who had finished combing her hair.

Rafael laughed crisply at Paloma's reply. It made the twenty-five-year-old look at her in wonder. “Why are you laughing? What's so funny?” paloma asked while linking eyebrows. He walked closer, then stood on the left side of the bed.

“How is this? I must be feeling risi. How long have I not been naked before you?” rafael said again forcing a laugh.

“Gosh, you're this! If not injured, I would have pinched you hard,” Paloma reply in a joke, even without a smile.

“Thank you, Paloma. Thank you for taking very good care of me. I promise I will give my best also to you,” said Rafael sounding more serious than ever.

“Why are you talking like that?” ask Paloma.

Rafael did not answer immediately. He was silent to string the word first. A moment later, the man returned to voice. “God gave me a second chance. I take that as an excuse to prove to you that I really want to change. Let me show it.”

Paloma did not answer immediately. He looked pityfully at the man lying helplessly on the treatment bed. Paloma smiled gently while nodding slowly. “Yes, Rafael. I'll give you a second chance. I hope you didn't waste this and make me regret that you made that decision,” Paloma said. He convinced himself that it was the right decision.

“Thank you. I promise you. I will not waste the opportunity you have given me,” replied Rafael relieved.

Paloma smiled again. His gaze was then fixed on the mobile phone near Rafael's hand. Paloma around the bed. He picked up the phone, then opened the screen. Instantly he was so surprised to find Sebastian's name there.
