Chapter 16: In the Meatball War
After we finished playing the game, the three of us planned to find lunch.
"Okay you guys, the next battle I won't lose" Ruben said with a slight annoyance.
"What the hell tuch, at most you will lose again," Ahsan replied.
"Are you hungry yet?" I asked them to break up their debate.
"Ah it's almost 1 o'clock huh. Quickly my stomach is in the esophagus," replied Ruben.
"KERONGAN woiiii is not ESOPHAGUS" Ahsan said in a high tone.
Seeing them act like that made me very entertained. It was as if they were doing a show.
"What does nich eat?" ask Ahsan.
"Find the near here only" replied Ruben.
"How about eating meatballs? The place is in the shophouse complex south of the School. There are also chicken noodles there, too" I suggested.
"May," Ahsan and Ruben said simultaneously.
"Oi why are you following haaa?" ruben said to Ahsan.
"Who's following along? You're mocking yourself, aren't you?" reply Ahsan.
"Ahahhaahha," I couldn't hold back my laughter anymore.
"Haaa? Why are you laughing? What's so funny?" Ruben glanced at me.
"No, no. Excuse me. Let's go there immediately" I said.
After that, the three of us walked straight to the meatball stall.
"By the way how are you progressing with Sofia San?" suddenly the question that came out of Ruben's mouth aimed at Ahsan also somehow surprised me.
"Huh? Whatchu mean?" answer Ahsan.
"There is no need to cover up anymore. You like Sofia from class 10-6, right?"
"Cih, it's none of your business," Ahsan replied looking rather annoyed.
It turns out that what Ruben meant when guessing the person who liked Ahsan was Sofia. I was so surprised to know that. I don't know why it makes me feel a little uncomfortable.
"You why Lang? Why does your face look so uncomfortable?" ruben said as he pointed at my face.
"No, it's okay" I replied nervously.
"Ah lest-don't..kau.....have been very hungry huh? Hadeuh.say dong, yasudah let's just run to get there. I counted until the new three we run well.one..," said Ruben who immediately ran on the first count.
"What the fuck is tuch, he said until the third. You loser..," said Ahsan who then ran behind him.
I didn't run after them, I just walked. I was still surprised by what I knew just now. I wonder how close Ahsan and Sofia are? Does Sofia like Ahsan too? A small part of my heart somehow wished that it had never happened.
"Oi Lang's... Hurry up, I'm hungry already" cried Ruben who was in front of the meatballs.
I also accelerated my pace a little.
"Ah sorry, make you wait," said I who had just arrived.
"Let's order it" said Ruben.
"I ordered chicken noodles sir, same iced orange," said Ahsan who then immediately sat down.
"I'm meatballs sir with iced tea," said I who immediately followed Ahsan sitting down.
"I'm mid chicken meatballs sir, drink iced oranges" said Ruben who immediately followed us sitting.
"Please wait a minute, yeah," said the stall owners who are none other than Sofia's parents.
"What?" answer Ahsan.
"This shop belongs to Sofia's father" said Ruben.
"So those gentlemen were Sofia's fathers?" ask Ahsan again.
"This is your chance to conquer Sofia's heart, right? You can conquer his father first," said Ruben again.
"What the fuck is tuch? Your advice is not helpful at all," Ahsan replied.
"Oi oi you better bow your head to me when you're talking about romance. I am the right hand of Eros the god of love" Ruben said in a proud tone.
"Where can I possibly trust a person who has never even expressed his feelings?" timpal Ahsan's.
"The problem starts here. Due to the language barrier, I was unable to understand Eros' words, so I was still single. Eros would speak Greek, where I might understand" Reuben said.
Suddenly a servant brought our order and stopped the conversation between Ruben and Ahsan for a while.
"Please order it, meatballs, chicken noodles, and meatball noodles one each and drink it iced tea one and iced orange two, thank you," said the male servant while placing our orders one by one.
We started to take our own orders.
"Kiraw-kiraw Sofiaw came here today without yah?" reuben again opened the question with his mouth still full of food.
"Oi if you want to talk, swallow your food first," said Ahsan who spoke also with the food that was still piling up in his mouth.
"Before you advise others please counsel the sinful you first... O you who are eating chicken noodles" replied Ruben who this time had swallowed the food in his mouth.
"Well what the fuck is tuch, now you're attacking me with a sneaky combo huh?" reply Ahsan.
As usual, they were always arguing. I've only listened to their actual debate, not debating anything.
"Oi Lang, you're not talking? Is your pulse all gone so you can't talk?" suddenly Ruben pointed at me.
"Based on you son of a bitch Reuben, you can attack innocent people like that" Ahsan again chimed in on Reuben's words.
In the midst of Ruben and Ahsan's debate, suddenly the long-awaited person came. Yes, Sofia came along with her bike which at that time had brought me home.
"Eh you guys here? Have you not seen you in a long time?" said Sofia who just got off her bike.
"Eh Sofia, yes it feels like a long time ago haha," replied Ruben.
It seemed like Ruben and Ahsan had known Sofia a long time ago. They look like close friends who haven't seen each other in a long time.
Sofia sat down with us.
"Sofia knew Galang our classmate. Lang introduced this Sofia our friend from Junior High first," said Ruben while pointing to me.It turns out they have known since la well.
"Oh I already know Ben," replied Sofia.
"Do you know each other?" Ruben looked shocked.
"Yes that way, then I also stopped by at Galang's house. Galang's mother is very good," said Sofia again.
"Ehhhhhhhhhhhh," now Ruben and Ahsan looked very surprised.
"What's wrong?" sofia asked looking at Ruben and Ahsan who reacted like that.
"No, it's okay hehe," replied Ruben trying to hide his surprise. Likewise with Ahsan, he also seemed to try to hide his feelings.
"Have you changed, Lang?" suddenly Sofia asked me.
"Changed? Changed what?" askaku. I really don't understand what Sofia meant by 'change.
