Karel's Desire

Last night Julia could not sleep well, even though she was very tired. Her mind was always thinking of her husband whom she had been unable to contact since last night.

And this morning when the sun began to emit its rays through the curtains of the room window, Julia also woke up with a sense of fatigue that whack her body.

Two weeks have passed since Julia learned Karel left without a word. She had searched by asking anyone who knew her husband, but her efforts were in vain.

One night, Julia was sitting on the porch of her house alone. This is her new habit since Karel left. Hoping that when Karel came home, he was there to greet her.

A white car stopped in front of the house. Julia's heart was racing. She hoped Karel would come home.

But Julia's forehead crept.

"Irfan?!"

"Hi Jul, how are you?" asked Irfan to walk closer.

"Irfan, what's going on here?" ask Julia directly.

"Irfan, what's wrong? Uh, let's go in first," Julia asked because she saw Irfan was confused.

"Irfan, what's wrong?" ask Julia carefully.

"Jul, I was really sorry before but now I have to tell you," Irfan looked into Julia's eyes.

Julia quietly waited, she did not want to force what Irfan would say.

"Jul, look ... Actually all this time Karel stayed at my house," said Irfan who was greeted with Julia's eyes glaring in surprise.

"Irfan, don't joke!"

"Jul, I know there are a lot of questions in your mind right now. But please believe me. Now come with me!" Irfan said with a commanding tone.

"But .... "

"If you want to see Karel, come with me now." Irfan begged Julia.

"All right."

Julia followed Irfan into her car. At high speed, Irfan drove his car.

"Fan, what happened to Karel? How do you know my husband?" ask Julia who is curious about what happened.

"I'm sorry I couldn't answer. After you meet Karel, I'll answer everything."

Julia was silent, following the words of Irfan.

After nearly an hour of driving, the car stopped at a hospital.

"Fan, where are we going? Aren't we going to your house?" julia asked confusedly.

"Yes, we'll stop by here for a bit" Irfan replied briefly.

Julia continues to follow Irfan until they climb to the 5th floor of this hospital. Irfan guided Julia without a word coming out of his mouth.

Julia held all her curiosity in her heart. Irfan stopped in front of the treatment room and opened the door.

When entering the room, Julia immediately stopped and silently stared.

Julia saw Karel lying on the bed with her eyes closed. Various hoses were on his nose and chest.

Julia approached Karel and hugged him. Unstoppable tears fell flooding his cheeks.

"Dear, what's wrong with you? Wake up, I'm here" Julia's voice softly mixed with her stuffing.

"Cart ... Dear, awake! I'm right here." Many times Julia called but there was no response from Karel.

Long Julia weeps over her husband's condition, until finally she can control herself.

"Irfan, why does Karel sleep? Is it because of the drug? What happened to her?" Julia leaned over the question that filled her head.

"Julia, before I just wanted to apologize because all this was Karel's wish."

"Me and Karel were best friends in college. One day we met after he married you. Soon he asked to see me again and told me if he was sentenced by the doctor to have brain cancer due to a violent collision during an accident he had previously experienced. But he didn't want to tell you because he didn't want to burden you. He just wants to leave good memories for you" explained Irfan.

"But why?" Julia's cry can't be held back.

"Jul, many times I've persuaded Karel to tell you everything, but he's sticking to his point. For the last 2 weeks it has been very bad. He refused the operation because the risk was very high and he did not want to burden you. Until last night, Karel was unconscious. I brought her here and this is how Karel is now. The doctor said he was in a coma" Irfan said with a sadness that could not be covered up.

Julia hugged Karel again, she kept calling her husband's name ...
