Ketrin was sitting on the bed she had shared with her husband for twenty years. There was a sore lump in his throat. There is something strange about Ruby.
He closed his eyes and recalled the strange things that had happened the past few months. She was just silent but she already felt a pain in her chest as soon as she saw a pack of cond*m inside her husband's bag. They haven't used it since she used contraception and they rarely make love. From there, he was suspicious.
He smelled a different perfume. Every day, she gets paranoid that she keeps sniffing Ruby's clothes and she's sure it doesn't belong to Ruby. To the extent that she went to the perfume shop trying to figure out what kind of perfume it was. He knew he had kissed her from someone but he did not remember who.
And today, she sees a receipt in the trash can from the jewelry store that says that Ruby bought a necklace two weeks ago and a ring a few days ago. There is no special event. There was nothing close as far as he could remember.
No necklace was given to him. He received nothing.

flashback a few days ago
Jenny is so unhappy because Ruby forgot about their date. But still, he went to the office the next business day. She tells herself that Ruby was very busy and busy that day and although she was disappointed, she tries to understand.
"Good morning," the knock on the wooden table almost startled him. Ruby smiled at him and all the disappointment she felt subsided.
"Good morning. Your coffee and sandwiches are on your desk. Enjoy your breakfast," Jenny smiled before returning to her computer.
Jenny looked cold and Ruby noticed but she just shrugged. She thought maybe Jenny was just busy because she knew she instructed her to finish a report about her meeting last Friday. Bending over to kiss Jenny on the forehead, and Jenny just smiled weakly, Ruby went straight into her office.
Ruby sighed as she stared at the food Jenny had prepared for her. The food and coffee he looked forward to every day. He felt guilty but he didn't know how to stop it. Sometimes, she felt as if Jenny was giving her a drug that could make her so obsessed. Or maybe, Jenny herself was like medicine to him.
Looking at her calendar on the table, she realized that she had not checked her agenda for a long time because Jenny was always there to remind her of her duties. Pulling her out from one of her drawers, she flipped it over to the current date. His eyes were fixed on a date.
"Damn it" Ruby murmured when she finally realized that it was Jenny's birthday on Friday
then. Tapping her finger on her desk, she thought of something that might make Jenny feel better.
Standing up to leave, he headed to the door. She did not know what to say to Jenny who treated her coldly. "Jen, I'll be back in an hour. I'll check something."
Jenny nodded with a smile and Ruby quickly left.
A few hours later, Ruby arrived with a large bouquet and a paper bag. Jenny's eyes began to widen when she saw Ruby coming.
Ruby reached out her hand and gave the flower to Jenny, "Honey, I'm sorry. I accidentally forgot our date. I know I'm late but I want to make it up to you. I'm sorry?"
Ruby took the box out of the paper bag. It was a small red box and when he opened it, Jeny saw a ring adorned by a small pink diamond. Ruby then walks next to Jenny and pairs the ring on Jenny's finger.
Ruby pulls Jenny, and heads for her office. Closing the door shut, Ruby pulled Jenny into her arms. "sorry. Please don't be angry anymore. I promise I'll spend the night with you, okay? I'm gonna do it. Sorry."
Jenny said nothing, she just kept smiling. His happiness rules him. And strangely, the ring on his finger made him even more confident now.
Flashback end
...****************...
Ketrin, with the lunch she prepared for her husband, plans to surprise Ruby. He took the elevator to Ruby's office. He didn't know if he should trust his instincts. He wanted to get her out of his head because he could not concentrate for a few days now.
Stepping out of the elevator, she took a deep breath as she walked through the long hallway towards Jenny's reception office. And Jenny was there, busy with some paper work
“Hai Jen.”
Jenny raised her head, slightly surprised by Ketrin's sudden visit. “Oh, hi. Mr. Ruby did not tell me that you will come.”
Ketrin smiled and sat down. “I cooked something for her, so I thought I should give her a surprise. Is he there?”
Jenny nodded while involuntarily playing the ring on her finger. “Yes, he's inside. I'm gonna
calling her.”
Jenny presses the button and waits for Ruby to lift it. Ketrin stared at the necklace with a moon pendant and a ring with a small red diamond on Jenny's finger. Her heart was racing considering the necklace and ring she had never received from her husband. Pounding, her eyes glazed over, she ventured to ask, “Your necklaces are so pretty. Where did you buy it?”
Jenny looked at the moon locket and smiled, “I didn't buy it. My boyfriend gave this to me as my birthday gift.”
Ketrin's heart beats faster than ever before. Before she could ask anything more, Ruby spoke from the speaker asking Jenny to let Ketrin in.
As she entered her husband's office, she did not know why there was such a heavy feeling in her heart. She did not know why she was panicking or why she suspected her husband.
“Hai, you surprised me,” Ruby smiled faintly at Ketrin, not bothering to stand up to greet his wife.
Ketrin cleared her throat as she forced a smile, walked towards the coffee and put down the lunch she prepared. “I prepared lunch for you. I cooked something so I thought of bringing it.”
Ketrin heard her husband humming. He looked back and he saw he was busy with his laptop. “Am I interrupting?”
Ketrin's question made Ruby look up and close her laptop. Standing up and sighing, he walked towards his wife and hugged Ketrin. “Sorry if it looks like that. I just have something to get done before tomorrow and I'm not halfway there yet. Sorry, you're not interrupting. Come sit down, let's eat together.”
As Ketrin's face clung to Ruby's chest, she smelled another perfume fragrance once again. She looked at her husband with her sparkling eyes, “Do you have a new perfume?”
Ruby looked at Ketrin for a moment. The question caught him off guard. She just realized she was hugging Jenny earlier and they were having sex*ks. Smiling at Ketrin, he shook his head, “I didn't. Oh, whoa. Jenny sat in my chair where I hung my suit. Definitely it.”
Ketrin nodded as he started to prepare the table. The reason her husband was lame. He can feel it. And he had no idea why Jenny had suddenly appeared in his mind. It's as if everything is connected.
“By the way, I know you don't like this, but I have to finish the report tonight. Looks like I should stay here again.”
Ketrin looked at her husband. He wanted to scream to tell her to stop lying but she couldn't. He has not had any solid evidence to date. Although his heart was hurt, Ketrin smiled, “Sure, you've given me time now when you and Jenny have to work. I-i understand. Besides, you always slept here when Salma was around. Honestly, I don't mind. Do you want me to send dinner?”
Ruby pulled Ketrin to hug her. Massaging the back of his wife's head while kissing her forehead, “I'm sorry. I'll fix it soon.”
Ketrin's tears eventually fell and she wiped them off quickly. Don't want Ruby to know, “Ruby, I know how demanding your job is. Since then. You don't have to apologize.”
Ruby held onto Ketrin's chin and looked into his wife's eyes. Bowing to kiss her, she heard her office door open, “Oh, forgive me. I called but it looks like you forgot to put your phone down. Mr. Lee is on the phone.”
Ruby releases Ketrin and follows Jenny. Ketrin stared meaningfully at Jenny who was just returning her gaze. And Ketrin's eyes almost widened as Jenny smiled wickedly at him.
