I stared at the clothes lying in my sleep. Thinking of the right clothes to wear. Today Ruby promised to date the night with me and I'm so excited.

“Everything looks good on you, you shouldn't think too hard,” Lucas came in with a cup of coffee in his hand. “What's your plan?”

I shook my head as I picked up clothes that I thought were perfect. "I'm gonna cook steak, wine, Greek salad, candles, then we're gonna have a bath together, maybe some movies, that's my ideal romantic date."

“That's great,” Lucas snorted violently while sitting on my bed.

Looking towards the displeased-looking Lucas, “What's wrong? What do you want to say?’

Lucas looked at me seriously, “Listen! I know you like it for real. I hope you stop whatever plan is in your head. What happened to my family has all passed. And now you're my only family. I will support whatever your decision is, as long as you are happy. Really.”

I rolled my eyes, “Don't talk about this anymore. There's nothing I'm going to change about my plan."

I heard him sigh, “You know that you only need to call whenever something comes up.”

I ignored him and kept getting my clothes straight.

Lucas chuckled as he approached to look me in the eye. “You know what you're doing right Jen?”

I pushed and walked past him. Open the door wide so he can get out. “You've asked me that a few times. Now get out!, I have to gani dress.”

Lucas walked out of my room shaking his head with a grin on his face. I know he's against my choice.

After what happened last week, Ruby stayed away. We talked, we were still kissing, not having sex*ks, she still hugged me whenever she was tired or frustrated. But all week, he was busy sorting out something personal.

Ketrin is often present in the office. Something he's never done before. I know he's got a lead. I wonder why he hasn't made a fuss until now. But perhaps, she had already made Ruby feel her suspicion. The reason why he's been away lately.

While styling my hair, my phone rang and it was Ruby. A smile immediately appeared on my face. It was too early to get a call from him. Clearing my throat, I answered the call in a sensual tone.

“Hai, good morning.”

“"Jen, sorry to bother you early but I have an emergency meeting at 8am. I've emailed the details, though,

can you make a presentation for it? Excuse me. The partners arrived last night and they're leaving later tonight. Sorry to be in a hurry," her voice sounded urgent. I was hoping the phone call was about our date later, but it turned out she was stressed out early in the morning.

"It's okay. I'll prepare it. Don't worry so much. You can trust me in this," I said. I was disappointed but tried my best to understand. Indeed, his partner was very important to his business.

“Thank you.” I could see it coming even just by hearing his voice. “Aduh, Jen ..”

I smiled again, hoping. “Ya?”

“Please be in the office at 07:30 am, okay?’

The smile disappeared

"Damn"

I smiled as I sat down at my place to do some final edits of his presentation. I guess I've done well based on the emails, I think the partners will be impressed.

"Hey, good morning," she leaned over to kiss my lips. He then pulled me up and hugged me tightly. "I'm sorry for the rush. I hope you're not mad at me."

I kissed her back and smiled. His face was sorry and handsome enough for me to forgive. "It's okay. That's part of my job.”

A day passed in the conference room. Snacks and lunches are served while chatting with business partners. I was busy preparing all the documents needed for her. Ordering food and snacks throughout the day. We were both professionals as if nothing had happened between us behind closed doors

After a grueling 10 hours inside the conference room, the meeting was finally over. Ruby's tired. His shoulders slumped and he kept massaging his temples.

Sitting in the chair behind his desk, I went to the back and started massaging his head. He's direct

relaxed. Eyes closed. I kept pressing my finger on his temple, between his eyebrows, and on it

"You did well," I ended up breaking the silence. Hopefully, she will remember something I expected to hear from her. I saw a smile forming on her lips but before she could answer, her phone rang. And I saw the name that came up, it was his wife.

"Cetrine?" He answers. The conversation goes with him just saying the words Yes and Okay. Then

after more than a minute, he hung up the phone while leaning back into his chair.

"Is something wrong?" The question I wanted to ask since after the perfume scene I had with his wife. I felt that he needed me because he needed comfort.

"It's okay. Leo's birthday is tonight and there's an event to celebrate at 7. I was tired but my son was waiting for me." his voice sounded tired but he knew he was still a father in charge of his son. Yeah, even though he's not her real father.

“Tonight?”

Ruby pulled my hand and made me sit on her lap, pulling the back of my head for a deep kiss. His hands explored the inside of my shirt. "Dear, I'm sorry. I promise I'll make it up to you. Tomorrow then? I want to be with you. Cuddling with you. You are my strength. Things didn't go well between me and Ketrin, but I was thinking about the kids. I know I shouldn't have talked about it

with you, but I think you deserve to know."

I want to complain but what's the point? This was the moment when I started asking myself was everything worth it? Is this love? Because I feel one second of pleasure, then the next second is hate. I was hurt when I shouldn't have been hurt. I planned this, but why was the road so hard?

After Ruby left, I took my phone and called Daniel. He quickly answered. I know it's gonna be a little awkward.

“Oh hey! What's up?” I felt him hesitatingly saying hello.

“It's okay. I know something important. Leo's birthday is today and the show is tonight at 7. I think you need to know.’

I could feel happiness and sadness at the same time when I heard her voice. “Gosh. Thank you for telling me. I would love to attend, but I certainly can't. But I'll give him a gift at least.”

“Yes, you should. By the way when will you take Leo?” I asked weakly. I feel like everything needs to end quickly.

“As soon as possible, what's up? Are you in trouble?”

“Not really, but I can't wait to destroy it all. I'm afraid it's getting drowned out by my own feelings, then everything will fail.” Daniel didn't answer me for a while. I just heard his breath.

“OK, I'll be quick.”

He ended the call. Daniel's been pretty weird the last few weeks or even really weird. He's getting awkward around me.
