34. Steven's Friend's Feelings for Lucy

Steven answered the phone call.

"Hi James, what's so important that you keep calling me. It's not like you." Steven Said.

"Hi Steven, you're right. I was honestly worried and confused at the same time. Everyone in this town didn't talk about anything else this morning except your love story with a woman from town x named Willa Winona."

"But I'm so confused because I know very well that you're not that kind of man. And as I know that love was never on your mind before. And either way, you'll soon be married to my cousin and my best friend, Lucy after 14 days. So I really wanted to call you and find out what's going on and find out why everyone's suddenly spreading rumors about you." James.

Steven was heard sighing as he said to James.

"It's not a rumor or anything like that. Everything you hear is true."

James looked so surprised and said to Steven in a voice that also sounded so surprised.

"What's? What did you just say? I feel like I'm talking to someone different. It's not like you're the real you, my friend."

Steven said to James. "James, this is very complicated. More complicated than you think. So can you give me some time to explain everything."

"All right, I'll listen to you. You can say whatever you want Steven." James told Steven.

Then Steven started telling James the whole story from the beginning to the present.

"I wasn't the one who broke our engagement, but Lucy was the one. Then Steven finished his speech to James by saying, "i've thought that Lucy is a good girl. But I never imagined that he would be that good. To be honest, her kindness grew in my eyes."

"James, I know very well that I'm the one who's guilty of doing this to a good woman like her. But after I tell you this whole story, can you forgive your best friend and give him some understanding because everything that's going on is out of my control and I'm not doing all of this for one purpose."

"I also want to say some things to you, which I've never told anyone before about. Even you for some reason. But since there's no other reason now, then I'll tell you something very important about my life Steven."

"I only had a few minutes before Lucy came here to work with me in my office. So let me tell you something special here and I want to tell you my decision too."

Steven said to her, "James, all right. I'll listen to you."

James said to Steven, "i love Lucy so much. I thought I'd loved her all my life. He is everything to me in this world. But he always thought of me as a friend and just a friend. And that's why I can't tell her my true feelings because I don't want to get her out of my life."

"All the time it's been torturing me to treat him like a friend. I was desperate to treat her like someone I loved. I've been wanting to ask you for a long time about your opinion on this. This is not the right time to tell her how I really feel. I was about to tell her how I felt before your father asked her to marry you."

"So now that you've got another love and you don't care anymore about Lucy, I'll never let another man take Lucy away from me, not again."

"Steven, I will always make her happy and treat her heartache. And I will do my best to make her happy, because I have felt the same way as she has felt before. So I know how sick it is to be left by someone we love."

Steven was about to say something to James, but Lucy suddenly walked into James' room.

James said to Steven.

"Sorry sir, I'll talk to you later because my secretary Lucy has arrived in my room. And we have a lot of work that we're gonna do together."

Steven understood what James meant. So he said to James, "well, James, I'll talk to you later. I hope you succeed. See you James "

James said the same thing to Steven.

"I wish you the same, Sir, may you succeed. See you, sir."
