“At that time I did not think clearly.” he said softly.
“You are not thinking clearly or you do not intend to tell me?” Liona did not answer, she chose silence because in fact she never allowed others to overcome the problems she had been facing all along.
When he lived abroad, he was used to living independently. Liona faced all the problems that came and looked for a solution on her own. He was used to relying on himself and such habits were hard to get rid of.
Especially living abroad without a family. Liona was forced to be strong and had to foam to protect herself.
Silence filled the room. Reynard was the first to break the silence.
He did not have the heart to scold Liona when he saw the look on the woman's face. Sighing heavily, Reynard walked over to the sofa where Liona was sitting with her head lowered. Reynard sat next to Liona, hugged the woman's body and looked at her face with a deep look in her eyes.
“Lain times, if you have any problems please let me know immediately. I am there for you whenever you need me. Never finish alone. You understand?”
Liona looked up at Reynard in shock. He had revealed his darkest side today before this man he loved.
He shows everyone that he can be cruel to protect the people he loves. He almost killed some men. Liona was very sure Reynard would feel fear or even disgust at her. But in fact, the man did not want to stay away from her. Reynard even wanted to help her and be by her side.
“Do you not feel afraid of me?” asked Liona looking at Reynard. “I look and act like a beast today...”.
“So you realize that your attitude is creepy?”
Liona did not reply, she just stared at the man's face in silence. Reynard sighed and put Liona's hair behind her ears.
“Later I'll throw away that knife. You can't play with such dangerous objects in the future. Now you better get ready for a break. You must be tired all day, right?”
Liona was stunned again. Is that the only reaction? No fear and disgust? Reynard didn't even throw him out of that villa?
The attitude Reynard showed was very much different from what was in Liona's mind. The woman swallowed her saliva with great difficulty, “Reynard, do you not have any questions regarding the knife?”
Reynard glanced at Liona in a calm manner and asked, “There really is another secret I need to know? Didn't you just say a friend bought you that knife?”
“Oh...” Liona stuttered a little before continuing her words, “Then why don't you ask about my friend's identity and what their job or something like that is?”
“You will tell me if you really want me to know and when you are ready to tell me.” Reynard replied lightly.
Liona was silent and the atmosphere returned to heing. The woman lowered her head and stared at the floor. He felt very anxious to tell Reynard but at the same time he was confused as to how to say it.
Reynard patted his shoulder and said, “That's it. Forgetit. Now we should have dinner first. Surely you are hungry have not eaten since.”
But Liona did not move from her place. With her head still lowered, Liona started to tell a low voice.
“I met my friend while living in Hongkong.”
Reynard immediately stopped his steps in surprise as Liona began to give him an explanation. The cold expression on the man's face was slightly looking. “Liona, you don't have to force yourself if you're not ready to tell me.”
“I want you to know what really happened. He bought me that scalpel because he wanted me to be able to protect myself when I was in danger.”
“Then what happened?” ask Reynard.
Liona raised her head and looked at Reynard, “I know it is very dangerous if I keep it at home. But I wouldn't use that thing if it wasn't necessary. Maybe you think this is a bad thing, but my friend has good intentions.”
Liona looked back at Reynar with a helpless expression on her face. ‘What's the point of him asking? He really wants to know my friend is a man or a woman?’
Seeing Reynard's intense eyes, the corner of Liona's mouth twitched, “Yes, she is a male friend.” she replied softly.
Reynard's face immediately turned grim and his veins began to appear again. The man clenched his jaw and looked somewhat disappointed by the answer given by Liona.
In a low voice he asked, “What relationship do you have with him?”
“Come tell me. What relationship do you have with that guy?”
The corner of Liona's mouth again twitched, “Not that's the crux of the problem.”
“But that's important to me!” reynard was a little angry with jealousy.
Liona did not expect at all that Reynard would still be so stubborn.
“The story is long.” said Liona rubbed her forehead.
“Good. You can start telling stories because I have plenty of time.” said the curious Reynard. He stared intently at Liona waiting for the woman to begin her explanation.
‘Aihhh...it looks like he won't back down until I give him an explanation.’ thought Liona.
After thinking for a moment, finally in a soft voice he said, “Oke..the man is...you can say...he is my ex-boyfriend.”.
Reynard gritted his teeth and asked, “How many ex-girlfriends do you have? Do you have many ex-girlfriends?”
Seth is his ex-girlfriend!
Miko is her ex-boyfriend!
Now there's one more ex-boyfriend who showed up out of nowhere! How many ex-girlfriends are there?
Liona looked at the incredulous look of Reynard. Why is this man talking as if he is a woman who breaks many men's hearts?
“In Hongkong there are only two people. This man and Miko. We are not a real couple. All of this is just misunderstanding. When I was in America, I didn't have a boyfriend.”
Seeing Reynard's increasingly cold and flat face, Liona immediately explained further. Because it is true that he did not have a girlfriend while living in America. After saying all that, Liona felt regret.
‘Why do I give her an explanation? It sounds like I'm giving him an explanation. I don't have to explain anything to him.
After hearing Liona's explanation, Reynard's facial expression returned soft. He reached out and held onto Liona's hand. Reynard's palms felt dry and warm. Lione was filled with feelings that were hard to explain.
“Come we go.”
“Where?”
“Eat night. I've asked the waiter to prepare food for you.”
“Good.”
