CHAPTERS 115. A STUBBORN MOTHER

Delvin was completely dumbfounded to see his mother's extremely unreasonable attitude. But he was still on his feet. He had never thought that his mother would be able to say such words.

“But, I know for myself know in the end all the news is not true. Reiki Savian is the director of the tev series. He and Liona are just coworkers and that's the point. Liona also got the role through the selection process, mother can see the video audition.”

But Davina still looks unsure.

“Mother...”.

“Quickly tell me why Reynard really likes women *****.” Davina said again still does not want to budge.

‘Wow! How do I know why Reynard likes Liona?’ delvin thought with a feeling of despair. He just wanted to change his mother's judgment about Liona.

“I'm not Reynard's brother. If you want to really want to know, try to just ask brother Reynard.” said delvin.

“Basic of unfilial children!” Davina slapped delvin's arm hard. “Quick tell me now!”

Out of anger, the middle-aged woman's chest rose and fell and her breathing was rough.

Delvin's head throbbed, trying hard not to yell at his mother. Why is he being blamed? I can't control Reynard's feelings.

“Alright! Alright!” Davina cuts off her son's speech again.”That cunning woman had managed to fool everyone. Felicia went on a hunger strike because she wanted to meet the woman and your sister refused to meet some women that I thought were suitable for her. Now you're following my word to defend that whore!”

Delvin looked at his mother with a look of disbelief. ‘Is this woman my mother?’

“Go! Go all of you! Going from before me.” shouted Davina waving her hand indifferently. Delvin was really frustrated in the face of his mother's attitude. He walked in front of his mother, Delvin pointed at the bruises on her face and said, “Mother! I've been standing in front of my mom for a while. Didn't mom notice that I was hurt?”

The bruises on Delvin's face were huge and deep purple, so it was hard to miss. But when her parents saw her face, they didn't even react. Davina pushed her youngest son away impatiently. “Go from before me! You're a man. A little bruise like that is nothing. You must have done something wrong so your brother had to hit you to the brunt so.”

Delvin felt Davina's words hit him like a physical blow. What he felt right now was the frustration and bitterness of his mother's words. ‘Why do you always think I'm doing something wrong? To me, Reynard is a perfect child who can't make a mistake and I'm a child who always makes a mess. Am I really your cage boy?’ whispered Delvin's heart.

Meanwhile, Reynard and Abraham were in the study room which was Abraham's favorite room in this house. European-style decoration in the room was most favored by Abraham who chose his own decoration of the room. The tall wooden bookshelves were full of all sorts of books. Abraham sat down on the chair behind the table gesturing for Reynard to sit down.

Reynard closed the book and looked at his father. Abraham immediately spoke to the core of his problem. “Your mother does not like Liona.”

“Alright.” replied Reynard briefly.

Abraham waited for a while but Reynard said nothing more. So he had no choice but to raise his voice. “All right??? Is that all you can say?”

“I like Liona. I really like and love him.” Reynard added after thinking for a moment.

“Reynard, I know it's not easy for you to meet people you like. Let alone a woman who...”.

Reynard's face turned dark, making Abraham stutter slightly, then the man coughed slightly and added. “I'm so happy! I'm glad you found the woman you love. I've tried to persuade your mother, but..”.

Abraham did not continue his sentence. Then he said again. “I've lived with your mother for thirty years and she's never been this stubborn before. Of course, if you still want to be with Liona, your mother can't do anything. But she wouldn't be happy to have a daughter-in-law like Liona.”

Reynard's eyes hardened and the temperature in the room dropped dramatically.

“Liona is the best woman I have ever known.” Reynard said. He spoke in a low and steady voice. Abraham seemed to understand Reynard's intentions, nodding his head.

“I understand. Felicia would not have liked the woman if she was a bad woman.”.

Abraham stood up and walked around the table. He cleared his throat and said, “I have one last question. Are you sure you want her to be your wife?”

Reynard had never seen his father with such a serious gaze before. “Ya father.”

Reynard's reply echoed in the room for quite a long time. Abraham put his hand behind his son's back.

“You are now an adult. If you really want to spend the rest of your life with Liona, don't let her get away from your side. You should be able to keep it.”

Reynard raised his eyebrows. When he saw the confused expression of his son, Abraham immediately chuckled. “Why do you see me like that? Do you think I will help your mother and persuade you to leave Liona?”

Abraham patted Reynard on the shoulder and continued. “I know you're very stubborn like a donkey. Nothing can change your mind if you make a decision. I better keep my energy. I'm gonna need a lot of energy to convince your mother not to interfere in your personal affairs. Your mother is not a bad person, she just wants the best for you. In his eyes, you are the most perfect child. That's why your mom thinks that no woman is good enough to be your wife.”

Abraham took a deep breath before continuing. “Liona used to be in a relationship with Seth, and now she has returned to the country. You suddenly tell you that you like that woman. When your mother was young, we ran the family business together. We were often betrayed by business associates and from that time on your mother had a hard time trusting others.
