The girl's footsteps were lined up along the hospital corridor. Yes, it was my step that was chasing the room where my grandmother was being cared for. The old woman was lying limp on the bed with a warm blanket wrapped around half of her body. And that condition makes me feel sad.
My tears can't stand it anymore when I see Grandma's weak face. Her eyes were staring at me while following the soft glow of her fingers on my head. As if understanding how I felt, he tried to comfort me. "Grandmother has improved. The doctors here are very good at dealing with Grandma's disease" he said. I held her warm hand and kissed her. A thin smile was seen decorating her face which looked still weak. I also returned her very gentle smile.
"Granny's body is improving?" I asked who was still holding Grandma's warm hand.
"Alhamdulillah. It can be in motion. Especially after Hany came, it felt like Grandma's nerves were working more and more" he replied. I smile. Even in these conditions Grandma still had time to joke.
"It's that Rain from Thailand, huh?" Grandma turned her gaze towards Rain who was standing behind me. Rain immediately approached Grandma and smiled as she greeted Grandma. "Yes, Grandma, I'm Rain Hany's friend."
"Eh, aren't you supposed to be Hany's Om?"
"No, Grandma. I'd rather be the theme." Respond to Rain in a friendly tone.
"Oh, so. It's not because you want to be with Hany, is it?" Tempting Grandma.
"grandmother..." Tukasku who blushed embarrassedly.
Grandma chuckles. So did Rain who had a little laugh across from Grandma's bed. While I was just embarrassed because of Grandma's statement to Rain. Which is probably why Rain thinks of me as a friend. We have been friends since childhood.
...----------------...
Rain and I walked out of the room where Grandma was in. I feel deja vu with the events I'm going through now. The bed with the infusion hanging beside it, the sound of the tool clinking every second, as well as the distinctive uniform that gives sadness.
My cry broke out behind Grandma's door. I leaned helplessly behind the door. Rain who witnessed this just stared at me with attention. As if he felt what I was feeling.
Rain took me to the park behind the hospital. The place was not too crowded, there were only a few people there. Rain took me to sit in a garden chair. It was there that I cried as hard as I could until I felt tired of my own crying. I can see how messed up I am now. Blotchy eyes, a messy headscarf, and maybe the kids' mucous hair is out.
Rain rested my head on her warm chest. I know he's trying to calm me down. I can only live with my current situation. Maybe if Rain was the psychopath who wanted to kill me, I'd be resigned to that as well. Because that's what my helplessness is now.
"You calm down, yeah. Don't cry anymore. I think that's more than enough." Said Rain while stroking my head gently. "Color says that those who leave don't remember. Because it will only add to the wounds that are embedded in your heart."
I just fell silent in Rain's arms. That afternoon sunlight shone on my cheeks and Rain which gave off a warm impression. I looked up at Rain's face. The face in the sun was like an angel trying to protect me from the wounds of the past that always haunted me.
...----------------...
After spending time in the hospital, Rain and I decided to go back to the hotel where we stayed for the holidays. I booked two rooms for the four of us. Actually I want to book three rooms, one for me, one for them, and one for Rain. But I refused to sleep alone in such a big room. I asked Mother to sleep with me while we were there. Mother does not mind, and neither do you with Dad. Because of this, Rain argued that he would not mind accompanying his stepbrother to sleep, and Dad agreed. Rain said, so we can save costs.
I splashed my body into the soft bed of the hotel. I also pulled my hijab and felt the coolness of the AC between my hair that felt limp. I got out of bed when the door opened. Instead of the Mother present, it was unexpected that Rain.
"Why are you here?" I asked with a huff.
"Yes.. Take care of you, lah. Why again?" Answer Rain flat.
"They're on the road stuck in traffic. He said, they went to Pelalawan earlier to take care of business. On the way home there was a police raid, so long." I also nodded in a sign of understanding. Then let Rain lie on the sofa on the edge of the room wall.
"By the way it's raining. So, we're canceling the walk. We can leave tomorrow. No problem?" Rain asked who was lying down while closing his eyes.
"Yes, no problem. The important thing during the holidays is we never take a walk. Not once either, papa." My answer.
"Yes, you take a shower there. Let me go downstairs to order some food. We haven't eaten since lunch."
"Well, I took a shower, yeah."
Fifteen minutes later Rain entered the room with a napkin containing two plates of food. I who just finished shampooing immediately do not remember my hair that has not been dried. I immediately snatched the nap carried by Rain because he was so hungry.
Rain diverted the food from my reach. He looked at me sharply. I also snorted while looking away. "Your hair can eat." Said Rain with that sharp look. I also walked her to the dressing table on the edge of the mattress.
Rain put the napkin on the carpet near the bed. He also arranged the food plate like we were about to break the fast. I approached her when I was done with my hair. And then we ate that food with it.
The sound of lightning almost scared me. Because in addition to sounding thunderous, the lightning also felt very close. It might have happened because I forgot to close the window door of the room back and the room that Dad rented was on the floor high enough to make the lightning sound quite loud.
"Rain's. Follow me, until Mother comes home. I'm afraid that the lights will suddenly go out" I said.
Rain laughed amusedly. "Hany.. Hany. How could a hotel as cool as this have power out."
"We don't know. Mana knows suddenly the power plant is dead or damaged."
"Don't talk anymore Hany. You better sleep now. You can't, can you, stay up?"
"Indeed yes. Only you can make me stay up." I said taunting. "I think you're older than your age." I turned to the bed.
"You mean?" Rain asked who was watching me.
"Yes.. You look more like a father who cares about his children. Have you always been that way with everyone?
"No. Just you." His word.
I felt ashamed in the blanket of a warm coat. Rain's words made me feel strange. But nevermind. It is his duty to take care of me as a trust.
"Good night Rain." I said while throwing a smile.
"Good night." She answered with a warm smile on her sexy lips.
