Chapter 23: The Kingdom of Vardes

After preparing herself, Arina led the way to go to the kingdom of Vardes, they again broke through the forest and a few hours later they had finally reached their destination.

Although called the real kingdom either Vardes or Asteria only has one city as a place that is still inhabited although in fact the two kingdoms have enough territory as Neira.

Now that Grey knows the reason why the king of his kingdom did it, the humans here are literally on the verge of extinction.

"Let's continue."

"Well." Yeah."

Following Arina they arrive at the checkpoint to fill out the form and then enter the city which is clearly very simple, there are no tall buildings or mansions, all almost similar to the border city. People seemed to be passing by and occasionally they bought something from the merchants.

There are some who just sit down with the situation and the rest even hold a baby who is crying.

"I never knew that this place was worse than the border."

"Difficulty resources are indeed quite disturbing but lack of human resources is the same as well, here only a lot filled by women, children and parents. They can't work like a grown man," Arina said, Grey can understand.

He turned his gaze towards Anabeth who was sweating coldly.

"You okay?"

"Hum, I'm fine..."

"Hold my hand."

"Good."

They reached the palace and there the guards immediately reported their arrival to the queen, waiting for them to be invited not to enter the throne but in her private room.

The queen was sick so she just lay on top of her sleep.

"Ah, forgive me. I should have welcomed you decent, but my condition did not allow me to do so."

"Let me check."

Arina is a witch she is also an expert in curing diseases.

"His body is weak, I think he's nutritional power and too much mind."

"I can't help but think about the fate of my people, these few days monsters led by a general named Januar come attacking us."

The queen coughed and Arina immediately thrust out a glass filled with her drink.

He wrote some herbs on the paper which was proffered to Grey.

"Do you know all these plants?"

"Of course, I often take volunteer quests, most of them are sick people who need plants like this."

"Thank God I didn't think you could figure it out, I'm counting on you."

"Then I'll look for him."

"May I come with Grey."

"Sorry Anabeth, but can you stay here to help Arina, I won't be long."

"Please be careful."

"Good."

Grey came out of the palace and then out of town, maybe he needed more medicine to get everyone to use.

The area here is not too often touched by humans because he easily found it, especially with a large number, around the grass he chose the right plant.

There are Boar hordes that make it a threat and Grey easily crashes.

They obviously made this herbal plant as food, there were 50 Boars that he managed to collect.

Food sources are indeed many unfortunately he is sure not many people are able to hunt like this.

"Who's there?"

Grey heard someone say to him, he looked up and saw a woman in knight clothes standing there, not only was one person behind him there were several women who joined in.

"Is it possible that you are from the kingdom of Vardes?"

One man nodded.

Grey could feel his heart slightly hurt.

They are just girls at 12-15 but have been charged with protecting the city and it seems like they are also in charge of collecting food for many people.
