Apocalypse Regression's

Apocalypse Regression's
Out of the Nest

After finishing the meeting between the members of Sword of Sufferings, Ark sat on the rooftop together with Jay.

"What do you want to talk about, Ark? You look so serious."

Jay asked in a half-joking tone.

"I want to do two things. But I was a little doubtful whether to start it immediately or not."

"Hm?"

Looking towards the somewhat doubtful Ark, Jay raised his eyebrows. He rarely saw his best friend so confused.

"What's wrong?" ask Jay.

"I was at a loss as to whether to give those people Miracle Root. Even though they have experienced evolution, I am still afraid that they will fall asleep.

As you know, the ability we get is not only strong, but also dangerous. If they choose to defect, I feel ...

It's a pity to have to kill them."

The last sentence Ark spoke left Jay stunned. He looked at his best friend with a strange look.

"It's kind of dark, man. I mean, you're talking about killing people like it's as easy as mowing the lawn in the backyard. Moreover, they are our own partners.

Besides, I guess you're really too paranoid. They're not gonna kill you for that kind of thing, are they?"

"You underestimated human greed, Jay." Ark spoke with a serious expression. "Not all humans are as simple and shallow as you."

"Stay, you don't have to worry so much. After all, you have the power to clear things up if any problems arise. Waitaminute!

What do you mean simple-minded and shallow? You really think I'm stupid?"

"Of course not. More importantly than that, I've found a recipe that seems to be able to serve as a second-rate evolutionary herb, but we're lacking the final ingredient."

"Can't you stop switching the conversation?"

Jay said with a surprised expression. He really feels being fooled and played by his best friend. But out of curiosity, he still asked.

"Then, what materials do we need?"

"Level 2 zombie meat."

"En? A level 2 zombie? Is this a special kind of zombie or something?"

"No. After the wave of ferocious beasts and zombies that happened before, I'm sure there wasn't just any change in the environment.

I think there must also be creatures that evolve to the next stage. Same when the world changes for the first time."

Ark spoke with a serious expression while mentioning some theories. But he himself actually knew that it had happened. Moreover, the young man actually had a shortage of two ingredients instead of one.

Merely, not wanting to make Jay even more suspicious, he only mentioned the flesh of a level two zombie. Not other materials.

"That makes sense. But why haven't we found it yet? I mean, we hunt zombies every day, right?"

"There are only two theories to answer it. First, the location where we are is quite quiet. Lastly, the zombies in this place before had not eaten enough. So it cannot evolve.

Most likely there were some zombies that had already evolved in the city. Especially in a densely populated location. So if we want to get the material, we have to go out of the nest.

Leaving the base and starting the hunt outside the territory."

Jay who listened to Ark's explanation kept nodding. After her best friend stopped talking, she finally opened her mouth to ask.

"I'm sorry?" said Ark who felt wrong heard.

"I mean, we have dry meat reserves and have developed land. Don't we no longer need to go. Enough to live in this place?"

"That's impossible, Jay." Ark said firmly.

"Why impossible?"

"Don't get stuck in your comfort zone and end up with regret when disaster strikes.

Even if we are currently strong, the world is constantly changing. We don't know until when we can survive. So better keep preparing. Fixing so that we can face what is to come.

A knife is sharp when sharpened, but will blunt or even rust if left alone."

Seeing the cold expression on his best friend's face, Jay shrugged. He replied with a relaxed smile.

"That's how it should be."

"You mean?"

"Just do what you believe, Ark. You are its chairman after all. If you trust the other members, you can help them get the Miracle Root. If not, then there is no need to do it.

I know you doubt because you don't want to be betrayed. Besides, I know you have a hard mouth, but a soft heart. Actually, you already consider them as partners

That's why you don't want to destroy everything, right?"

Jay patted Ark on the shoulder while smiling warmly.

"Just calm. If they try to defect and you don't have the heart to finish them off.

I'll kill them all for you."

THE PLAQUE!

Ark directly slapped Jay until it fell to the floor.

Jay's dumbfounded. He got up while holding his cheek with an expression of pain.

"What do you think, Ark? Have you gone crazy?"

Ignoring Jay, Ark lowered his head to stare at his own palm. The young man then muttered with a flat expression.

"It's kind of painful. It's not a dream."

"IT'S NOT CLEAR THIS ISN'T A DREAM!!"

Jay shouted furiously with an expression full of emotion.

Ark raised his face, directly staring at Jay's face. The young man then smiled warmly as he said.

"I'm sorry, I think it's a dream because very rarely do you say useful things."

Ark's tone was as warm as spring, in contrast to his usual cold tone. However ...

This made Jay completely silent in his place.
