Apocalypse Regression's

Apocalypse Regression's
The Long Night

"Why do we have to stand guard in front of the gate this way, Ark? Do we really not need to patrol?"

Ark, Jay, and the three other members were sitting casually on the road in front of the gate. The two women, Stacy and Natasha have their own talk. Meanwhile, Darin sat down while holding the spear calmly, listening to Ark and Jay talk.

Ark looked towards the sky where the moon was shining brightly. Looking at the full moon, the young man looked pensive. After a while, he said.

"What we need to do tonight is protect our headquarters."

Jay, the rest of the group, is shocked to hear Ark's words. Having a look of doubt on her face, Natasha opened her mouth and asked.

"Why are you sure that someone will attack our base, Ark?

To the extent that you have Abigail, Nathan, and Nala hiding in the basement. I think it's a little overkill."

Is correct. To avoid an accident, Ark orders Abigail and her two children to hide in the basement. Although somewhat stuffy and quite dark, but the space is the safest place.

Meanwhile, Ark did not directly answer Natasha's question. The young man pointed towards the full moon. After everyone looked towards the full moon, he said.

"Full moon. I don't think it's gonna be that simple."

"So that's just your guess?"

"Yes. That's it."

"..."

Ark's unreliable flat answer left them all at a loss for words. Just then, Ark's voice came back.

"Even if my guess is wrong, there's no harm to us. We can even rest a day. Let go of the tired and a little relaxed."

While the others nodded in agreement, Natasha frowned. If noticed and reversed, it means that if Ark's speech is correct, tonight will be a long night. Nothing to rest, let alone relax.

"Yes .. it seems that all will not happen."

Ark stood up while saying in a mocking tone.

As the other members were confused, Jay who had made the first evolution and absorbed Miracle Root heard something. He heard the sound of creatures running in a hurry heading towards them. At that very instant, he felt a bad feeling.

Looking towards Ark who chose to use a spear instead of his two katanas, two possibilities appeared within Jay's head.

First, the enemy is a dangerous creature that should not be approached for poison or anything like that. Lastly, the number of enemies is too much, so many, facing in a frontal way is even tiring, so it is better to keep your distance and fight safely.

Jay clearly guessed that the latter possibility was clearly higher because of the sound he heard. Merely, his expression changed as he looked towards the end of the road.

From a distance, it appeared to be a rat as big as a Golden Retriever.

One, two, three .. ten, twenty .. fifty, sixty ... one hundred.

Yep. In one look, over a hundred mutant rats ran wildly and madly towards their base.

At that time, Jay realized that it was not the first or last possibility that was true, but instead both were true!

"Holy empty egg! Do we have to face all this? Five against over a hundred such beasts?!"

"..."

Ignoring Jay's words, Ark gazed towards the more than a hundred mutant rats. His expression became worse. This number was completely different from his conjecture.

"Go inside, close the gate. Do not get completely closed, leave a gap of about half a meter so that the rats can enter."

"Huh?! Are you crazy, Ark?!"

Natasha said angrily. He did not expect that the man he was following would become that crazy.

Ark said with a cold expression. His words were very firm, really not intending to be opposed.

Although somewhat confused, they all still nodded and obeyed Ark's words. They all retreated, went inside and closed the gate, but not completely. Leave a little gap that is only enough to use a passing mouse.

"You're on your right, Jay. I'll be on the left. Natasha, Stacy, Darin's getting ready to take out the escaped rat."

Ark said calmly and took a position. Jay followed him.

At that moment, they all waited nervously. A short while later, hundreds of mutant rats instantly smashed into the gate forcefully, making the thick iron gate instantly peok.

Then, one by one the rats began to barge in. But right then and there, Ark directly stabbed the mutant rat viciously. Killing in one attack. He kept repeating the movement. When Jay regained consciousness, he had seen the rat carcasses piling up.

He then followed Ark's movements, intending to reduce the young man's burden. It was just that, perhaps due to being less skilled or nervous, he could not finish off the rats in a single attack. Make one mouse escape. Luckily, Stacy was ready to kill the dying mouse that tried to escape.

"Focus, Jay!!!"

Hearing Ark's cry, the stunned Jay instantly came to a realization. He immediately slashed down forcefully while saying.

"I understand!"

Although it seems boring, what Ark and Jay do is exhausting and requires high focus. One by one the mutant rats passed by, they had to get rid of them before the other mice passed by and escaped.

The bodies of the two youths were sweating profusely. Although it had undergone its first evolution, killing dozens of mutant rats in a short period of time was definitely not an easy matter.

As they had killed dozens of mutant rats until it piled up Like a small hill, a shocking thing happened.

There were some rats climbing the wall on the right and left of the gate.

Seeing such a scene, Ark realized that the younger and less dense Devil's Vines could not block them.

"Tsk! Change plans! The three of you take care of the rat that went through the wall!"

"Good!" answer the three of them in unison.

Actually they could have chosen to hide in the basement waiting for the day to change. It's just, Ark knows that delaying doesn't mean finishing.

If they all chose to delay, what awaited them in the future was a greater and stronger number of mutant rats.

Rats are creatures with rapid reproduction. So their numbers will quickly increase if not immediately reduced. Not to mention, the longer they last, they will also get stronger and troublesome. Especially in a city like this.

The number of rats hiding in the sewers was clearly very large. That was why, the mutant rat was one of the most troublesome beasts to deal with the human race.

Not because of their attack power or their poison, but because of their ever-increasing number.

Looking towards Natasha, Stacy, and Darin who were beginning to be overwhelmed by the rats that instead of being reduced but instead increased, Ark shouted.

"Change plans! Close gate!!!"

Ark immediately shouted. At that moment, he and Jay pushed the gate shut and locked it.

After which, Ark rushed over to help the other three people. Jay looked tired, but also soon followed. They immediately fought with the mutant rat horde.

Looking at the rat passing through the tall fence as if it was endless, Jay complained.

"Do we really have to fight until morning?!"

Looking towards his best friend, Ark replied in a flat tone.

"It's going to be a long night ... Comrades."
