The next morning.
"We're almost on the spot."
Looking at the elite residential gate that looked majestic, but rather dilapidated made Darin unable to help but lift the corner of his lips.
"So you guys live in elite housing?"
Yonas asked with a surprised look on his face. I didn't know they would live in such a place.
"According to the Chief, this place is definitely safer than any other location in the city."
"That's true."
Yonas nodded. It's just that, because usually this place is only inhabited by people who are famous for being rich, having high positions, and the like makes many people not think of this location to live in.
"Are the people in this place safe from the attacks of zombies and beasts, Darin?"
"No." Darin shook his head. "This place hasn't been opened for long, so the people living here aren't many. Moreover, most of them immediately fled when the change occurred. While the rest, they become zombies or die of being eaten by beasts."
"So you mean ... The housing is empty?"
"You can say so, but you can say no."
"..."
Looking towards the confused Yonas, Shani, and Vadim, Darin explained.
"Although it has not been completely cleaned, but you can assume that this place now has an owner."
Hearing that, a shocked expression appeared on Yonas face. Having astonishment on his face, the man said.
"Mr Ark and Sword of Sufferings."
"You're right." Darin smile. "While only choosing one house as the headquarters and several surrounding houses for processing, I'm sure the Chairman doesn't just have such a small purpose."
Looking towards the three serious-looking people, Darin shrugged with a relaxed expression.
"Follow me."
After saying that, Darin walked through the outer gate and entered the residential area.
They were all instantly greeted with beautiful looks, but it was also terrifying. There are many beautiful buildings that are quite far from each other. House paint looks dull, lots of weeds and unkempt trees.
Jonas, Shani, and Vadim follow Darin. After walking for a long time, they arrived at a straight path. Merely, their expressions instantly changed when they saw the many deep traces of blood and slashes left on the streets.
"It seems that zombies and ferocious beasts can still enter this place as well. As for the marks in this ... could it be the claws of a savage beast that we do not know about?"
Jonah checks the road. The man looked both astonished and curious.
"That's not the claw of a beast."
Darin said in a calm tone, but his expression looked solemn as well as quite proud.
"You mean?"
"If I don't see him in person, I know that the Chairman did all this."
Hearing Darin's reply, Yonas widened his eyes. He stared at the man with an expression of disbelief.
"This kind of thing is impossible for ordinary humans to do, right?
If every line in this slash, doesn't that mean it's done only in a battle? I mean, if it's just one, it makes sense. However, on this road clearly had many marks. Maybe dozens!"
"It was because the Chairman and the other members of the Sword of Sufferings were not ordinary humans. Especially the Chairman, he's completely different."
"You mean?"
"I won't explain more. Once you're approved and join the group, you'll find out for yourself."
Darin spoke with a mysterious tone. He then again walked towards the location of the headquarters quite excitedly.
The word "fortress" instantly appeared on the heads of Yonas and the other three people.
Darin then knocked on the gate with a certain rhythm. He hit her hard enough that the person inside would hear her.
The door opened then a handsome male figure with blonde hair and a burly body appeared. In one look, he was definitely not an ordinary person. The pressure emanating from his body could clearly explain everything.
When Jonas, Shani, and Vadim thought that it was the "Ark Master" that was always being said to them, Darin suddenly said.
"I'm back, Jay's sister."
"Oh! You can really come back alive, Darin!"
Jay smiled kindly. However his expression somewhat changed when he saw the three people who had come along with Darin.
"They?" ask Jay briefly.
"They are the companions I met on this trip, Jay-Brother. They're not bad people. We had gone through a lot together, so, when they said they wanted to join the Sword of Sufferings, I brought them to come.
Of course, all decisions still depend on the Chairman."
Hearing Darin's words gives Jay a headache. He said Darin was back at the wrong time. After all, the situation between the members of Sword of Sufferings was a bit awkward right now. Despite not knowing what was really going on, the man thought everything must have something to do with Ark.
"Huh ..." Jay sighed. "You came back at a bad time. I'm gonna call Ark here. However, don't try to question his decision."
"We understand."
Darin replied casually. He then invited the three others to wait under a tree across the street. After all, for non-members, they were forbidden to enter the headquarters. Quite strict compared to the rules in Silver Cross.
After waiting for a while, the gate opened again. Jay came along with the figure of the young man behind him. He looked very calm and indifferent, but exuded a charisma as well as a cold charm.
"I've done my job, Chief!"
Darin got up and saluted Ark with a sincere expression.
Ark's gaze swept over Darin's figure then towards the three people standing behind him.
"If you force yourself to use your left hand, maybe your hand will never heal again, Darin.
Regardless, I'm glad you could come back."
Ark looked at three of Darin's friends and then spoke again.
"So, who and why did you bring them to our base, Darin? Supposedly, you know that the location of our headquarters must be hidden from outsiders."
Ark's flat speech made Darin feel nervous. But when recalling what they had passed together, the young man took a deep breath and then began to explain.
"So this is it, Chairman ..."
Ark heard Darin's explanation. I heard the whole story from beginning to end. He was quite surprised when he saw the three people had managed to kill the special zombie. Yes ... although from the new description changed and not so strong.
In addition to having a pretty good luck factor, it seems that they are also quite brave and have a high sense of justice. Still want to help each other even though the possibility of death is quite high.
"I'm sorry, Mr. Ark. Me, my brother, and Vadim feel indebted to Darin. We want to follow him. So, please don't blame him."
Looking towards Yonas who said with a sincere and determined expression, Ark still spoke flatly.
"Since you have come all the way here, let's try your strength first. As for other matters, we will talk about it later.
So, take out your weapons and get ready to fight."
After saying that, Ark turned his gaze to Jay.
"Test their abilities, Jay."
Jay pulled the sword from his waist and made a movement to relax his neck muscles. Gazing towards Darin and the three people behind him, the man smirked.
"If you don't want to be beaten, don't hold back."
